You really get a lot with your order. The fried shrimp I ordered was an order of 20 shrimp and came with two sides and a canned drink. The portions were big. James even threw in an extra drink. Chatted with James while I ate and enjoyed the conversation. He's such a nice guy with a great personality. He truly cares about the community he serves. The one and only disappointment was they were out of Mac n cheese. I really wanted some Mac n cheese! lol

It's a cute food truck parked in a church parking lot, and I was hype to eat. And just to be clear--I do not believe in reheating catfish. We dove straight into our styrofoam platters and were both pleasantly surprised. The catfish was fried to crispy perfection. Flavor-wise, it's no Aunt Glenda (let's be honest, who is?), but it was still solid. Personally, I'll always prefer my catfish with grits--just saying. We both ordered the greens and macaroni--yes, we failed to diversify, don't judge us. The greens were okay. The mac? Also okay. Being from the South, my taste buds for soul food come with high expectations and a very judgmental palate. Would I go back? Absolutely--especially if they start offering grits. Oh, and the portions are huge. You definitely get your money's worth. Go check them out and support the catfish cause.

Service can be a little hit or miss but we have never had any major issues and most of the time it is attentive. We always get multiple sea boils and an assortment of the fried foods for our family of 6 and the portions are plentiful. For the boils we order the hot special Cajun which really is not spicy at all but the flavor is good. The shrimp are good size and the crab is cooked well. The fried food has always been hot and fresh. Personally, I do not love the cocktails as they are on the sweeter side so I usually have a beer or soda. The prices are great for the amount of food you get, probably the best in the area.

Usually I don't do reviews so late after but I just remembered our horrible experience. The seafood boil sauce was tasteless and oily, everything else extremely greasy or cheesy (I actually did like the fries though). The service was beyond terrible-- and I remember this from the first time we came last year or so too. We tried to flag down our server on multiple occasions for stuff and they were nowhere to be found. After we paid our bill, they gave us 1 container and no bag... We were looking for someone to help us for like 10 minutes and there was no one anywhere to be found we finally were looking around the host stand (no one there either) and there was a couple waiting for the rest of their food. They saw how distraught we were about getting a bag to line the outside of our saucy seafood boil bag and they just gave us theirs, thank their kind souls. Will not come back unless this is the only place open for business for some reason. The food isn't inedible, the service is just horrendous; no one wants to work here.

It looked good. - Brussels had just hint of sweet, I actually wanted them to have a little more, but they were good and crunchy. - Shrimp was piping hot, I almost burned my mouth! Not overly seasoned (I didn't use the sauce) and maybe grilled a little too hard and a bit dry, I had to chew for a while. But I ate it with the crab cake and it was good. - Mac and cheese wasn't overly seasoned either but sufficient. Some might say it needs something, maybe salt, but I was ok. Pretty good cheese pull. - Crab cake was also pretty hot, and yummy. I did try it with the sauce, but it tasted mayonnaise based and I don't usually add sauces. I prefer the food to be seasoned on its own, so I just ate it with the shrimp. - There were a few people at the bar when I arrived and two people in the dining area who left by the time I sat down. You can see from others' pictures how small the inside is, so I found it odd that the server sat a couple that arrived about 15 minutes later right next to me (booth and chair seating). I get having sections, but that seemed a little close to me. The next couple that arrived was sat a couple of tables away, similar booth/chair seating. - Soft R&B from an artist I wasn't familiar with was playing. Then some reggae. It was loud but not obnoxiously so. I enjoyed the vibe. - I chuckled when about 3/4 through my meal then busboy brought a to go container. I shook my head that I didn't need it. This girl can eat! LOL. - Docked one star because the menu said to add shrimp to the Stacker was $4, but the check said $6. I'm not crying over $2 but it's more about accuracy. Also, they add an 18% service fee. Not sure why establishments do this; I would have left 20% on my own. - Overall I was happy with my visit and the food. Casual with elevated prices. Not the perfect meal, but good enough.

Seated right away in a beautiful room. Wished the fireplace was on, but the room was lovely nonetheless. If you visit in the winter and are cold easily, you might bring a shawl. We ordered brunch, starting with the skillet cornbread. Serving was small but perfect size for our party of 3, ladies. Delicious! I enjoyed my omelette and appreciated that the chef made my potatoes without peppers and onions. Omelette was yummy and big enough to take some home. We ordered an extra entree of the Mac & Cheese for the table and it was delicious! It came with green beans that were very yummy. We were disappointed that the attached store was closed during our visit (I think for inventory). But a great excuse to come back in the future for brunch and shopping. The wait staff was lovey and attentive. I highly recommend this charming venue for brunch or an event (the party rooms near the dining area were very nice.)

The Brie and Crackers with Strawberry Compote was also a tasty appetiser in ramp up to our entrees of Steak Frite and Bourbon Braised Shortrib. In hindsight, I would rather have the Grand Marnier French toast over the Hoe Cake. I was expecting the hoe cake to be grittier and more representative of colonial cooking. It was OK, but I think I could have gotten the same result using fine ground cornmeal and Bisquick. Service was quick and courteous, though some food items came out slower than others. Wife and I both agree the Bourbon Braised Short Rib was better than the Steak Frite which was a bit chewy, though flavorful. Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie was a good dessert to share as it was so rich. Wish we had room for coffee with that! Afterward we spent an hour just shopping at the gift shops. Parking is free. Be prepared for a short walk from the huge parking lot hidden behind a grove of trees. VIDEO of our lunch! https://youtu.be/bQWYCW6EZJc?si=UnNEgxx1PnOMWcld
