I passed this place due Inc home from work and made a note to stop by and try it. I went and ordered the Lomo Saltado and it wasn't that good unfortunately. They could use better cuts of meat and add more of the soy sauce to the plate. It just doesn't have that punch to it. I should make a note I go to Lima, Peru every year. Sometimes twice, so I'm used to really authentic Peruvian food. The chicha Morada was good though.

Updating my review since I haven't written one in over a decade. This place is still solid. Still the same small local spot, still huge portions. I look at the one star reviews and am sad because this place is pretty good. The chupe de camarones is supposed to be a chowder/soup... So I'm kind of laughing at the one star review that says it came out soupy.... That's literally what the dish is supposed to be. Normally it is a bit thicker and more on the chowder side, but I think the flavor makes up for the wateryness. It's so large that I couldn't finish and the to go container was like the size of a sherbet bucket. The tamale was really good and the chicharrón wasn't overcooked. I don't like it when it's too dry and too fried and this was pretty good. My spouse got the leche de tigre which he liked, but I really liked the cancha (fried corn kernels) that it came with -- they do a really good job with them. Crispy, not too dry, nice and salty. Overall I'm glad this place is still here. I think the local Peruvians know it's a solid spot so it's still standing... Don't let these picky reviewers keep you from trying some authentic no-frills Peruvian cuisine! If you're a patient but true foodie you won't be disappointed.

The lomo saltado was so good, definitely recommend. Service is okay, no one gets you from the door. You go to the front to order and sit where ever you want. Ambiance is okay, it's kinda small in here but that lomo saltado is torch

Mi Rico Peru is a very good place to get Peruvian food. It is not fancy decor or plating; it's is basic good food served from a very good staff with a positive attitude. I've eaten here a few times. The trio fajitas plate is good, but not glamorous. The sauce is too much like tomato sauce and the cut of steak is mildly tough and lacks flavor. Overall, it is still a good plate, especially for the inexpensive price. The last time I ate there, I had steak tacos. Again, good tacos, but needs more flavor. Overall, this Mi Rico Peru is a 4 star for the genre of restaurant it serves. I'm not comparing it to 5 star dinner. It's a 4 star compared to other local ethnic food restaurants. This Mi Rico Peru is a recommend.

Went for a pickup order a ceviche and chupe de camarones. The ceviche was so salty I brought it back in the added more lime and gave back to me it still was very salty. She said she would make me a new one when I got home and tried it, it tasted as if they just added water to the ceviche it had no taste no flavor. She definitely didn't just prepare it because the fish wasn't fresh. El chupe de camarones was terrible no seafood taste there was three pieces of shrimp it was very disappointing we were really looking forward to having a good meal

PLEASE!!!! If you're going to serve my community your food be extra careful and mindful! I ordered from your Springfield location on 8/5/22 and the food was delicious as always but while I was delighted and busy with my jaw, I wondered why it felt like hard pieces of something that shouldn't be there and in the mist of swallowing it I spat it out of my mouth and saw 2 significantly large pieces of plastic. Pictures of different angles attached! I thank God this time I didn't swallow ⁉

Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

We ordered a half chicken with yuca and beans as the sides. It was very quick, we got our food within seconds it felt like. The chicken was probably the most flavorful kind of Pollo a la Brasa that I have had. It wasn't too greasy either. Just very tasty. The beans were delicious!! I didn't think I would like them as much. The yuca was pretty good too. Nice and crispy. I do wish they had slightly more options for sides, maybe even an Arroz Chaufa. This is a no frills kinda place so don't expect anything too fancy. But it is clean! And that's what makes it more authentic and fun in my opinion! Will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

We're writing this in hopes of the service improving because we still love the food and location. Staff is very nice once you get their attention but we've had multiple trips of sitting for over 30 minutes with servers passing by and us attempting to make eye contact or flag a server down to get an order taken. The second to last time during a week day around 6 we went and it took about 30 minutes for us to even be able to put an order in after the server brought us waters then he dropped the food off without utensils or sauces. This past time on a Friday early evening we waited at an outdoor table for about 30-40 minutes and the server would look at us, help the table he was already working with next to us and disappear. We finally went to the kiosk and just put the order in through there for the dine in family meal but they did not give any utensils or plates with the food. We heard the server tell the table next to us they were out of glasses so we figured we would just do bottled water. We recommend maybe scannable QR codes you can order through at the outdoor tables instead of waiting for the servers to come over. Two tables in front of us had the same issue with flagging the servers passing by. We should mention that the staff to include kitchen and servers always do look incredibly busy so it's not that anyone is just standing there but potentially more servers/ runners need to be hired.

All the Staff was super and checked on us constantly, never felt abandoned outside (we were only ones). We went with Family meal and a side order of Pupusas (2 for $10). Your choice of spinach/cheese, beef or chicken. We stuck with water to drink. The chicken was delicious, we have our favorite in Alexandria, but this chicken was very good. The sides were good, fries, yucca and rice. The sauces complemented everything (green & white). We asked for ketchup, they did provide some packets (perfer an actuall ketchup bottle when dining in). The Papusas were not a big hit with the table. Overall, a good option if in the area. Especially for the price which was way better than expected for area.

Avoid the temptation to have a second unless you are being chauffeured home. I arrived at 5, a little early, and took a table. I waited quite a while and finally had to get up and find a waitress to ask for a menu. I ordered two appetizers and a main along with my double Pisco. Because the kitchen was not busy everything arrived at once. The Tiradito Al Olivo was excellent with the octopus chewy and fresh and the black olive foam tart and sweet reminiscent of a creamy blueberry yogurt. My favorite app though is Papa à la Huancaina. Who would believe a simple thick sliced steamed potato could be so delicious? The Lomo Saltado was the best I've have anywhere, even cold, with the beef so flavorful and tender you could consider your teeth optional. The meats, now y'all know, if you have been reading any of my reviews that I like my steak/meats a particular sort of way. just to preference! I got their Lomo saltado and the steak was TOUGH, not uneatable tough, but tough enough to not really enjoy my meal. But besides the meat being tough, I couldn't really taste the aji amarillo flavor and didn't have much flavor in general, just a little salty. The fries were great crispy on the bottom and were prepared well. For a dish that's almost $30, they should use a better cut of meat. overall, not a great experience 2/5. My wife got their steak skewers and similarly, the meat was too tough, and didn't' have too much flavor. also very mid. Overall, the place was cute but just lacking in terms of their food.
