The food here was delicious. I came for lunch after a medical appointment. You walk in and order your food and if you want to sit inside the restaurant to eat, you can, as they have an ample number of tables and chairs. They will also bring your food to your table. The waiter was very patient with me and helpful and recommended items, such as the ensalada, which was a drink that had different fruits. I ordered a tamale, which was delicious and different as this was my first time having a fried tamale. I also ordered three Birria tacos! I would most definitely come back to this spot again!

Local taco spot in alexandria with amazing birrias! Watch our full youtube video with us giving reviews for the food. We tried plantains, tacos, chips and salsa. Would love to come back and try more things on the menu. https://youtu.be/3fr7BcAXG-Q

Taco Lucas has become my go to for Mexican food, atole, cuajada (freshly made soft cheese) over the years. During COVID Taco Lucas has become even more essential to me! I find myself ordering more and more for pick up. They have recently started serving tacos de Birria and OMG are they phenomenal!!! The tacos are crispy and come with a delicious side of beef consume broth you can dip the tacos in. The broth is so delicious that you won't want to waste a sip, which I highly recommend sipping on the leftover broth. It adds a perfect finish to your meal. The food at Taco Lucas is great!!! Sometimes I only go for the Cuajadas (fresh cheese) to complement meals that I make at home or when I buy pollo peruvano w/yucca at "Su Pollo Restaurant" (near Copper Rd on Rt1) It is freshly made and really delicious. I highly recommend the cuajada! My favorite menu items are the tortas, pupusas, pollo encebollado and now the Tacos de Birria! My husband loves the fried fish, plantains w/beans and crema, fried yucca w/fried pork, the cuajada and atole. I have many more items to try! But I can assure you that they put a lot of love and time into the meals!

Over the past 10+ years. I had driven past this restaurant dozens of times, but I can't remember a time when I came in to check it out. It's a small to medium sized restaurant, and the building itself is colorful that is situated on a large lot, so it's not easy to miss. I happened to be in the vicinity today, so I figured that I would give it a try because it was 12:30pm already and I was somewhat hungry. I only planned on getting something small and not really a full-scale lunch. They have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to Mexican food, but again I only wanted to get something small to hold me over until tonight. So I went for just two basic tacos that includes ground beef, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. I found an old-style booth table to sit, and within a matter of minutes the cool employee who I ordered from, brought the tacos to my table. The tacos themselves were delicious but somewhat small which was fine. This place is definitely old school which is what I like.

I really liked this place. It is a little far away from where I live but worth driving out here for. I cannot wait to come back. 1. It is not a chain restaurant but a family owned restaurant. 2. They play soothing music so you can have a good conversation with your dinnermates. 3. Staff is friendly and service is quick. 4. It is pretty busy. There was a steady flow of people walking in. 5. Food is excellent. I had the lengua tacos. They tasted not gamey at all but tasted like short rib. So good! The pupusas were so perfect and the slaw they came with complimented the pupusas so well. The yuca was perfect. Crispy on the outside and pillow soft on the inside. I cant wait to try the other things on the menu. With these great prices you can. The prices are amazing. They could seriously charge more but really must care about their customers. There were a lot of families that came in. You have to come in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I also had the horchata a to drink. It was so refreshing.

    BEST BIRRIA TACOS EVER!!

We arrived at 4:03 p.m. and left by 4:46 p.m. Our plan was to relax at the bar, enjoy happy hour margaritas, have appetizers, then dinner while watching the soccer match--a leisurely vacation evening. The hospitality, unfortunately, was lacking. Although our bartender wasn't rude, she seemed to be in a constant rush to get us to order, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with only a few tables occupied. We even mentioned that we were hoping to enjoy a slow, relaxing evening, but we still felt hurried throughout our visit. The happy hour margaritas were very lime-forward with very little tequila. We switched to a regular menu margarita ("The Perfect"), but even that tasted weaker than expected. As tequila fans, we were disappointed. We also found the food to be far from authentic Tex-Mex. Having lived in San Antonio, I realize that's a high standard, but this didn't come close to what we expected. In the end, we asked for our food to go and left. We found another restaurant where we could relax and enjoy the kind of hospitality we had been looking for. I don't enjoy leaving critical reviews, but this was a disappointing experience, and unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

Strong enough to respect, smooth enough to enjoy. No watered-down nonsense. The staff was genuinely nice welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything without hovering. The environment is clean tables, floors, restrooms all well kept. And they have outdoor seating, which is perfect when you want to enjoy your food and vibe out a little. The accompanying salsa was tasty. We also liked the queso dip that we ordered as a side. JP ordered the attractively presented breakfast burrito and found it to be very good. The rest of us ordered the ground beef enchiladas. They come with Mexican rice and refried black beans. I thought the enchiladas were good but really needed substantially more cheese and red sauce because they were kinda dry. But there was a question about the preparation of the margaritas. JP requested his first margarita be agave free (i.e. not sweet). It turned out great. But when JP and our friend ordered another round, the second round was yellowish orange instead of green, and they were sweet. Our server insisted the margaritas were made the same way the second time. She did agree to have them re-made, but the remade ones were identical to the ones that we sent back. Since I don't drink margaritas and don't have a vested interest in that aspect of Tacos and Tequila, I'd like to come back to further explore their menu.

We were greeted and seated immediately when we arrived. There were maybe 3 or 4 tables total occupied during our visit so not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. There is outdoor seating as well. Our server, who was very friendly, hyped the premium margarita so we gave in and said yes. We also tried the passionfruit margarita. The premium was strong but that's probably what you're going for anyway The passionfruit margarita was delicious but not strong at all. We tried the chips and dip and the Platanos Fritos (plantains with sour cream) to start. Chips were fresh and hot. Salsa was a bit creamy. Never had it like this before but the taste was pretty good. Plantains were perfect! While we didn't order the Guac ( Guacamole Molcajete) , it was brought to our table. We found it to be on the bland side with no hints of cilantro, onion, lime or salt. We saw a few bits of tomato but it tasted just like a plain smashed avocado. Not something we would order again. We decided to try all the street tacos except the vegetarian so we could taste everything. Steak, chicken, fish, shrimp, ground beef, pork (al pastor), carnitas. We also got the 3 street taco platter that came with the Mexican rice and beans. We found the shrimp and fish tacos to be lacking in the quantity of meat. But they were flavorful. The chicken, while plentiful, was dry even with the sauce. The steak, al pastor and carnitas were all packed with meat and delicious but both our Al Pastor tacos were missing the pineapple. The ground beef was my personal favorite but was very greasy. The Mexican rice and pinto beans....Both were just ok. Overall, food was ok we were expecting a bit more flavor. Service was great. Pricing was a bit higher than what we usually pay for a similar order.
