10 chicken Dumplings for $12.49. You cannot go wrong.

If you are looking for delicious dumplings, then you must stop by and see Sujit. I'm telling you...this is the place. For $12.48, you get a healthy helping of 10 hand made dumplings, macaroni salad and your choice of homemade mild or spicy Himalayan sauce. The sauce is tomatoe based so its like a delicious gazpacho. Do. Not. Throw. Out your extra sauce. It's amazing on its own or with your eggs in the morning. I'm telling you! Lol You can get them on Sujit's truck or at the Momo & Poke restaurant. Oh, btw...order an extra helping to take home. You will not be sorry.

These dumplings definitely satisfied a craving. Not bad for a food truck. I enjoyed their sauces. I guess I just wasn't wowed and didn't really care for the potato salad.

Venturing out to the long line of food trucks you never know what you might find . . . . and this was a pleasant surprise. I've kind of gotten an affinity for dumplings lately and these were some of the best. I had the pork and the first thing I noticed was that they were slightly larger that the ones I usually see. I had been a little bit worried that 10 dumplings wouldn't be enough, but it was plenty. The flavor was terrific and the came with a tasty tomato based sauce instead of the usual soy sauce. I highly recommend giving this truck a try.

My friend recommended that we try this place out for lunch earlier this week. I had never tried Himalayan food before, so I was a little on edge because I didn't know what to expect. Essentially this food truck specializes in a steamed dumpling dish with either chicken or pork. I got the pork ones and it was delicious. They had a good portion of meat in the center and the wrapper was steamed well and not doughy. The meal was served with a mild sauce. It really reminded me of a Latin American flavor almost reminiscent of Peruvian cuisine. The dumplings were served hot, so by the time I got to my desk they were the perfect temperature. A side of spicy potato salad comes on the side. It definitely has a kick. Overall I'm glad I tried this food truck out. It was a positive experience for me.

I recently received a flyer for a free lunch from TwentyTables, a new mobile app in DC. Apparently, TwentyTables provides users with $6 lunches from participating restaurants and food trucks in and around DC. There are about two dozen participants and I rolled the dice and tried Himalayan Soul Foods. Finding the food truck was simple enough as TwentyTables provides real time location for its food trucks. Order was even easier, as I simply selected the Pork MoMo with Spicy Potatoes, and the time I was going to pick up my order. I walked over to the pin on the map in NoMa at 11:00, easily found Himalayn Soul Foods and let them know that I had a TwentyTables order to pick up. Sujit, the owner, was friendly and had my meal available then and there. I decided to eat my dumplings while they were still hot, and they were amazing. The six dumplings and the side of potato salad was more than filling. The pork filling was moist and had the perfect blend of ground pork, onions, cilantro, ginger, garlic, and seasoning. The wrap was the perfect consistency, holding in the filling and its juices, but with a lightness that does not overwhelm the dumpling. I can't wait to go again and try the chicken and vegetable dumplings! Yum! Eat Well!

I love momos and this truck has some of the best I've had. The wrapper is not too thick, and the pork filling is flavorful. The price is reasonable and the portion is big. I love the hot sauce--it's spicy and good. The spiced potatoes are also delicious. I hadn't heard of Himalayan Soul Foods before trying them at the Twinpanzee Brewing grand opening, but I'll be on the lookout for them.

Was able to sample this jem of a food truck as it sat outside the Fair Winds Brewery in Lorton. I was hoping there would be a food truck when I showed up and I was not disappointed. They specialized in dumplings and although they are good for my waistline, I was super excited they had a veggie option. They had a meat, meat, and a veggie choice. Score!! The dumpling wrap was steamed just right. The inside veggies were a bit too crunchy for me but it was still delicious. I asked for the spicy side sauce and it was tasty and flavorful. The two guys in the food truck were super friendly. I guess these guys are usually down in DC during the week but I'm glad I got to sample the delicious Momo's on this particular day!

    Pork momos!

Food truck outside Capital Gallery building in DC. First time trying momos, so nothing to compare them to except more traditional Chinese dumplings. When I ordered, the chicken momos were sold out so I settled for the pork ones. Super solid choice! Momos were great, but the spicy sauce I got wasn't the greatest.

A dozen of the yummiest, plumpest dumplings served from a food truck across from the Capitol Centre. Sujit, the chef owner, is so friendly, as was his young assistant. The dumpling skins are authentically just the right thickness and contain a generous amount of perfectly seasoned filling (your choice of pork, chicken, or veggies). They are served with spicy sauce and a Nepalese potato salad. When we saw how much food we had been given we did not think we'd be able to finish it all, but it was so delicious we ate every bite!

And I'm sad we did, because the food was NOT good. We ordered - Impossible meat momos 3/5 - they were okay...not the best and not the greatest. The flavor was hiding and the momo did not stay in tact at all. The sauce that they served alongside did not enhance the momo at all. Veggie momo 3/5 - again, they were okay. In fact, I think these were worst than the impossible meat momos. Didn't seem like there was any flavor and just veggies mushed together with salt and pepper. Raita 3/5 - way too liquidy for my liking. I thought they would at least provide rice, but no. So it was just basically liquid yogurt with a couple of strips of cucumbers and carrots. Paneer chili 0/5 - the container literally said 'paneer chili' and after 2/3 bites, I asked my friend if this was actually paneer because it was kind of chewy? Of course it wasn't and it was chicken!! I'm vegetarian so I was so disappointed that they put the wrong item in our order, especially since the container explicitly said paneer. This morning I woke up with a terrible stomachache. The food definitely did not sit right with me. I'm definitely going to skip this place and try Moh Moh Licious next time.

My favorite dish was the the sukuti sadheko appetizer -- the goat was almost jerky like, chewy (in the best way) but still tender; and spicy. It was served with these rice crispies that looked plain, but had so much flavor on their own. It was a fun & delicious play on texture, flavor and spice. The braised yak was tender and warm with the spices and rice, yum. Loved all the options for goat, lamb, yak, etc. There were also plenty of options for vegetarians as well.

The bar area is big and spacious, and usually sitting at the bar means better, more attentive service. The place was mildly busy, so I expected things to run smoothly -- but that wasn't the case. Right from the start, the bartender wasn't very attentive. We had to ask multiple times just to place our order. For appetizers, we tried the Goat Buttan and the Wild Boar -- we wanted to explore some of the unique delicacies on the menu. Both dishes were interesting, and the Goat Buttan and Wild Boar were actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, the service continued to be an issue. We had to flag the bartender again just to order our entrées and even for simple water refills. We ordered the Mutton Taas and the Yak Chili. The Yak Chili was very good, but the Mutton Taas was extremely dry -- like eating cardboard -- and lacked flavor. Throughout the night, our bartender was constantly absent. More than once, we had to ask another bartender to get his attention so we could get basic service. After finishing our meal, we ordered a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. The presentation looked nothing like the picture -- more like a sloppy drop of pudding -- and the taste was just as disappointing. And again, we had to flag down another bartender because ours was nowhere to be found. Service overall was lackluster, and the tip options started at 20% with no 18% choice. For the level of service we received, 15% would have been more appropriate. I won't be returning anytime soon unless I'm specifically craving their unique delicacies -- which is once in a blue moon.

I've been eating here since Royal Nepal opened and was under different management. They never lost that neighborhood feel and they don't take their patrons for granted. With a location down the block from the Birchmere and nestled in the up and coming Arlandria neighborhood of Alexandria, they project both a hometown restaurant feel as well as an adventurous vibe - have you ever eaten yak?
