Both were well made and had plenty of flavor. The cashier at the food truck was super friendly and had a great sense of humor. Fried chicken goodness on a brioche, plenty of jalapeno slices, cheese, and an aioli. The brioche bun was fluffy and did a great job of holding all of the flavor into bites. I had the opportunity to try The Frenchman last Friday night at 50 West winery for Live in the Vines. What an unexpected surprise! The food was so delicious. Tons of flavor, served up hot and fresh and cooked just right. The majority of the menu items are different takes on chicken sandwiches. I am a sucker for anything with swiss cheese and mushrooms, but when I saw Truffle Aioli in the mix I made my decision to try Napoleon the Arrogant. A juicy dark meat chicken thigh was breaded and deep fried to the perfect crunch, topped with mushrooms, swiss and aioli then placed on a buttery fresh toasted brioche bun. I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was huge and while I ate a bit more than half, I could not finish. For my husband, who loves spicy foods, I ordered Napoleon the Angry. This crispy chicken sandwich was topped with swiss, pickled jalapenos and a pepper aioli. He also enjoyed. We shared a small order Mon Frites - crispy shoestring fries sprinkled with parsley, lemon zest and garlic. These were served with a delicious roasted garlic aioli. So much flavor again. Service at this little truck was friendly and quick. For the amount and quality of the food I received I found the price reasonable. The Frenchman came to my office park a few weeks ago. I got L'Capitan, the deep fried chicken with cheese, cabbage and sauce on brioche. I added a fried egg as I like them on sandwiches. The taste was good, cabbage and sauce tangy without being overly spicy, and the thing was huge. After putting off trying this food truck for months (they seem to be everywhere we go), we finally caved from hunger. We ordered a Napoleon the Angry, Hamilton, and side of fries. None of the above took very long to cook, but nothing wowed us to eat here again out of desperation. The fries were cooked well, but the seasoning didn't really add anything except a ton of salt. The aioli didn't have much flavor beyond basic mayo, which neither of us enjoy in general. The Hamilton (grilled cheese with bacon and apples) came with salted and buttered bread (why so much salt), one measly slice of cheese, about 2 slices of apples, and 2 slices of bacon. Pretty much the only thing that was tasted was the buttered bread and bacon. Usually that could be a good thing, but I at least expect to taste cheese for the $10 price tag. The Napoleon (fried chicken with jalapenos) was kind of the same way as the Hamilton. A decent fried piece of chicken but not really any other flavor. Maybe the normal chefs weren't working that day, but I'd rather go to Chick Fil A for my fill of chicken and fries (at a lower price). read more

WOW.. just WOW.. We had a work event and they served a bunch of food trucks. I tried two other food trucks and tossed the food. Nothing was fresh and everything was mediocre and bland. BUT let me tell you about the Frenchman food was simply amazing! I had the Napoleon L'Capitan and man did it hit the spot from all the other disgusting food. The slaw was perfectly made and not overly drenched and has a good bite to it. The fries were nice and seasoned with garlic. The bun was delicious and the chicken was crisp. I thought that the sandwich itself was kind of salty, and neither the fries nor the sandwich really stood out to me. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and after getting about halfway through the sandwich I realized it was completely raw on the inside. Something told me the texture wasn't quite right, but I'd never had this style of cooking before, so I assumed the texture was intended. But, when my eye caught a glimpse of the raw chicken, my meal was done. Thankfully the cooks were willing to give me a complete refund. Tried The Frenchman truck for lunch today and ordered the Napoleon Chicken combo (L' Capitan sandwich, garlic frites and soda) for $14. How do you mess up a chicken sandwich? Especially when you are charging $9 for it? The L' Capitan looked delicious on the menu, but what I received was hardly appetizing. One bite into the sandwich and I knew: it was dry, overcooked and bland. When I opened the sandwich, the meat inside was a mixture of white, brown and gray. The taste of the meat was just so off-putting I ate half and tossed it. To make matters worse, the mayo slopped on combined with the coleslaw made a huge chunk of the bun soggy. Honestly, feel like I wasted $14. Coworkers had the smoked salmon on sourdough and loved it. Sadly, I have zero reasons to recommend them. read more

Had a Napoleon L'Capitan and some fries last night at Old Ox Brewery, and it was fantastic! The chicken was well fried, but still juicy. The Frenchy sauce was tasty, and the cabbage onion slaw was in a sweet spot between slaw and sauerkraut. This review is from Valentine's Day at Barrel Oak Winery. The winery had put together a fun valentines day event and advertised all over social media of which it included this food truck, The Frenchman, being there. My wife and I decided to go since we knew dinner plants would be tough on Valentines and we like this spot. So literally as we are turning off the main road for the winery we see the Frenchman leaving. It was something like 5 or 6pm (about dusk) and I believe they were advertised as being there much longer. Confused we hoped they ran out of something and would be right back? Well turns out they just bailed and left the winery, leaving them high and dry for food options of other customers coming out to their advertised valentines special event. I asked two different people at the winery what happened why is the Frenchman not here and both were upset, stated something along the lines of "they didn't get enough customers so they told us they were leaving". Whatttt?? When we arrived it was at the earlier side of the Valentines event, people were just starting to show up when we saw them leaving... it ended up having a decent amount of people there. Another person that worked there stated that this food truck, for leaving them high and dry like that, would never be invited back. As a business owner I can see how frustrating this would be: making a commitment to customers for a great experience and then having your main food option for said experience take off shortly into the event. As a customer I was annoyed because I had planned on purchasing food from them but now we had to battle crazy long lines / wait times to enjoy dinner on Valentines! read more

Exceptional! I decided I wanted to be an Aristocrat for a day and escape serfdom for a brief time so I stepped up and ordered "Napoleon the Arrogant." I hesitated about the fries (Mon Frites) as I saw this monstrous sandwich get served up ahead of me in line and I doubted myself for a split second. Luckily this weakness quickly left my body because these were very well seasoned French fries with a beautiful garlic'y undercoat. I was presented with the most tender dark meat chicken sandwich with an ever so slight crunch, perfect seasoning in the batter, melted Swiss, tender mushrooms and a bun that did not overpower the meat. The Roasted Garlic Aioli was thick, with an intense flavor...this is for the garlic lover that seeks a wonderful flavor explosion worth every single additional calorie. About an hour later I came back and wanted to get a grilled cheese without the apples and honey ($7) and asked if it was the same as the 'kids grilled cheese' ($5)....the reply was YES! So I ordered the simple grilled cheese but then I was told that there would be an "upcharge"...... Ok. Why is that? Well because you're an adult.....and um.....the computer recognizes the difference.... Me: "I'm...ok well then I'll just have the one with the apples and honey". Really?!? We got the Brie plate. It was delicious, but only included 2 slices of French bread, not nearly enough for the nice amount of Brie and other goodies. When I went back to ask for more bread, they charged me $1 for 2 additional slices. I paid the fee because I wanted to finish the Brie, but I thought it was ridiculous. I had the Napoleon the Arrogant sandwich (fried chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms) with Mon Frites and honestly delicious beyond description. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned and I'm a bread-snob (I grew up in Germany where bread is no joke) and I can say the brioche bun was very good. It may be a bit pricey, but I feel like it was well worth it for the amount of food you get, the convenience, and the quality. Someone in a post earlier complained that they could get the same sandwich at Chik Fila for cheaper and besides that being wrong in my opinion, I think that guy missed the point of supporting a good local business. P.S. I love the cut-out of Napoleon. :) EDIT: I would change one thing, however. I ordered the baked brie as well and I wish it had just a couple more slices of bread. Best Food Truck I have experienced to date! They have food trucks (at least 2, sometimes 3) every Wednesday in my office complex. The Frenchman is by far the best one I have had outside my door to date. A delicious juicy chicken breast lightly fried, you can pick your topping, i got the ham, bacon and fried egg topping (I'm sure not good for me), which was VERY VERY good! This guy is the real deal, a real chef, not just some dude in a truck making the typical BBQ and Chicken Wraps. Delicious!!!! read more
