Overall this was an excellent experience!!! Pros:: 4 main restaurants. Mozamarre:: beachside. Beautiful view. Mosquitos are everywhere. The food is pretty good here. Insu:: rooftop. Only open for dinner up to 6:30pm To 10:30pm. It's a tapas style so you order a bunch of things and then share. Again it's outdoors so lots of mosquitos. The servers here are kind of snooty. Why? Because they are on the top floor? Who knows. There is Mexican man in a all black outfit who walks around like he is the Godfather. Of whom? Or what? I don't know. He just thinks he is the server of all servers. Ommagio: they are supposed to change their menus every so often but for the 3 times we went there it was the same exact menu. Food is okay.... Nothing great. Breakfast here is good. Lemongrass:: pool side burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches etc. this was my favorite place. The servers here are chill and nice. Food was basic but good quality. Good internet access everywhere. Beachside service and food is pretty good. It takes forever though. They servers are busy. There were accommodating with allergies. The chefs at Mozamarre cooked salmon with plain salt and pepper for my son and made him potato wedges. Quiet. Not busy. Has a kids splash pad and small 1 foot deep pool. If you want to see shows you can take a shuttle to Marival Emotions and see the shows at 9pm. Shows are 1 hr long. You can eat at Marival Emotions as well but the food is not great . Rooms are spacious. Washer and dryer in the rooms(?some). Cons:: every restaurant is full service. There is no quick grab something and go. You have to sit down, wait for someone to take order, wait for food to get cooked, wait to order more, pay, tip etc. It makes it hard when it's an all inclusive and you just want to grab a coffee or a quick snack. There is no buffet style here. Only 1 restaurant is indoors with A/C - Ommagio. Everything else is outside. So when it's hot and humid and mosquitos are buzzing everywhere you have no choice but to go to Ommagio or sit outside. Even at Ommagio inside seating is limited so they try to get people to sit outside on the patio. This sucks!!! Tip Tip Tip Tips are not included and since everything is full service the tipping expectation is crazy. Bring lots of singles/ change. Housekeeping only came 1 time in our 5 day visit. I don't know why. Even if you pay for the demi pool right outside your room, anyone can use the demi pool. read more

Drinks taste like watered down but that's probably true at most all inclusive resorts. More to come 12:40. Service at pool finally started around 11. It's 1240 now and not much service anyway. If you're looking for a more active pool area don't come here. Rooms are nice being two rooms but master bathroom is wide open to bedroom and shower and toilet area are all glass. To get hot water it has to run for like 3 minutes. Come to find out these are time share type setups Never staying here again. Lunch took an hour to get served. Ugh There are a lot of small steps all over the resort and although we are younger, I think it would be very dangerous for older people. read more

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with this hotel. We were scheduled to go on vacation while Hurricane Flossie was in the pacific and as the trip grew closer we were hoping for the forecast to improve, but unfortunately the morning we were set to go heavy rains and flooding were forecast for the area so we made the decision to cancel our plans. We notified the hotel and they seemed understanding at first but this is just the beginning of a nightmare between Marival and Costco travel, who did not seem to be an effective advocate. The hotel is refusing to refund a cent of our money. I know they have a cancelation policy but we aren't able to control the weather, and taking a beach vacation in a flood zone does not sound like the beach vacation we were planning especially with young children who were looking forward to being in the water. When we discussed our experience with other people they said that the lack of hospitality and understanding from this hotel sounded greedy. I am not sure that I agree, but somewhere between Costco travel and this hotel communication broke down and we are left short a whole lot of money. read more

Another "amazing" review well deserved! After all the problems we had with the hotel, on the 3rd day the house keeper came in to bring towels as I asked her NOT to clean the room . Under my nose she stole my diamond wedding band that was part of a set. I immediately noticed it and ran to find her but she was already gone. I called the Carlos the manager and fined a complaint. They sent a crew to look at our room and our belongings , they even took apart the drain but couldn't find it. They said they investigated the maid and couldn't find anything. Oh well did you think a thief will admit that he was stealing??? I filed a report with the police but the hotel refused to take any responsibility. What a joke! This could have been a nice resort with great food but instead they are scammers with zero customer service. read more

I've been to Mexico multiple times, but this was my first time staying in Nuevo Vallarta. It's about a 20minute drive from the airport, and the road coming into the resort strip is BUMPY! The speed bumps are frequent and so big. My daughters head was bobbing around in her car seat. This resort is small, and I believe meant to feel exclusively "distinct." The lobby was pleasant, but no wow factor, and the staff were pretty friendly as we checked in. As this is the VIP resort, you can take a shuttle over to their sister hotel Marival Emotions which is two hotels away to eat there and use their pool/beach . They do have a buffet over there and a larger kids pool area with slides etc, but the food is not as good and the beach is SO crowded. The rooms were amazing as they're so huge! We stayed in a two bed room suite and it was 1700sqft with a huge balcony with patio furniture. Even the one bedroom is so spacious. Plenty of room in the master bedroom to set up my little ones pack n play with slumber pod, and there was still ample room for us to move around. The second bedroom had two double beds, and both bathrooms were large, although only one had a bath tub. The living space is so open and large with a kitchen, island, dining table, and tv/couch (also a sofa bed) area. Our little one loved all the space and running around. We had two issues with the room though - the plumbing and the housekeeping. If you wanted to wash your hands or take a shower, it took at least five minutes for the water to get warm, and then it would turn scalding hot all of a sudden, and then as you try to slowly adjust it to cool, nothing happens for a while as you slowly push it to cold, then the water is too cold. I think every shower/bath we spent 10minutes tinkering with the faucets. Housekeeping is definitely NOT up to par. Our little one is a baby and runs around eating snacks, so there are crumbs. There are rugs in the room, and the crumbs were there all week, and the floors were filthy! I always bring slippers for hotel rooms cause of this, but my little one can't so she wore socks (until she took them off) and her socks and feet were black from walking on the floor. It was as though they've never mopped the floor. Also housekeeping was very inconsistent, they would take away towels hanging and not replace them or the little toiletries. We had to call and ask for them several times, which was annoying when you're waiting to shower/bathe after a day at the beach and pool. The pool area is lovely though, they had a small area for kids wading and spray fountains. Our little one loved running though, and the pool was nice and warm as it does get cool and windy in the evening. The pool side restaurant had delicious scallop ceviche, fish tacos and bacon cheeseburgers. The beach area is apparently newly purchased as previously the resort was not beachfront. The beach is quiet and clean (it's combed through in the morning to remove pokey items), and the beachfront restaurant Mozza Mare was delicious. One day they even had Al pastor meat on a donair-type spit with cheese quesadillas - yum! They have a "fancy" restaurant Omaggio which serves a different type of cuisine each night, and everything we tried was good, no complaints! There's also a lobby bar which we actually didn't visit. However the best restaurant there was Insu. It's their roof top bar/restaurant serving tapa style food. As soon as you get out of the elevator you're stunned by an incredible view of the ocean, and sunset. We ate here multiple times just for the view, and the food was great too! My favourite item had to be the scallops that were so fresh and sweet, with plantains, with a sweet and spicy sauce. Pro tip, the drinks here were also the strongest. It opens at 5 for drinks, but it the kitchen doesn't open until 630. Overall we had a great stay, and our little one was a champ sleeping/napping well in a new environment and loved her first trip, and first visit to the beach. I never enjoy resort food, and this was the first time I was surprised by how tasty everything was, zero complaints. There are definitely things they need to work on with plumbing and housekeeping, but they did not ruin our stay. read more

This was the most horrible service I have experienced. The waiters are openly rude and do not care to complete a request within the hour it is made. I had to ask for things I ordered for dinner an hour AFTER everyone else at the table had finished their food and snapped at me when I asked if it was coming soon, and I am not exaggerating how long it took for it to arrive. The only person who cared about giving good service is Paco by the pool. I have come here for years and ever since they switched management the service has been trash. read more

Good things: -Service is friendly and excellent. Workers generally bend over backwards to serve. They work very hard so if you go here, please tip well. -Always able to find lounge chairs with shade. -Rooms are spacious and look nice. -Outlets, sinks, toilets etc. worked fine -A pillow menu to get just the right pillow. -Breakfast bar is really good. -There's a safe in the room for valuables. -The beach is pretty good. If you are hoping for crystal water and white sugar fine sand like Cancun, you will be disappointed. Sand is decent, water is dark green/ brown and cloudy- not good for snorkeling. Waves are ok for body surfing/ boogie boarding. -Lots of shaded lounge chairs on the beach and the employees are very helpful in moving umbrellas for shade, and generally very attentive at bringing drinks and food. -There is a shack to check out boogie boards, etc. -Bottled water dispensers on every floor. What I'm not a fan of (others may not mind these things): -It feels like being on a cruise ship, as there is nothing close or easy to get to outside of the resort, and I got tired of the same restaurants day in and day out. It's about 35min to downtown PV where activities and "excursions" are (about $20 cab ride, one way) -There are four restaurants on site, only one is indoor, so if it's too hot or rains ( it's one of those a lot of the time in summer) it's hard to get in for dinner without a wait. -Food: they do an excellent job with presentation, the food LOOKS great, but serving sizes are small, are pretty bland tasting, and quality was hit or miss. I had some really good, most was meh. -The in-lobby store is ok and has the basics: tums, pepto, sun lotion, etc. but selection of beach toys, balls, etc was very weak. Poor selection of cigars with inflated prices. -There is a 10 min. walk to the beach, on a hot day it kinda sucks (you can take a shuttle though if willing to wait 10 ) -Tennis courts at both "Distinct" and at the neighboring "Emotions" have lots of cracks but are playable. -The place is totally dead after 8:30pm. Fine if you want quiet, but boring if you want to be around people. Probably not the right spot for groups of young partiers. The business model- Your feelings may differ: I have stayed at a few places like this that were mainly timeshares. The entire business model gives me the creeps. Everything is designed to LOOK like luxury. New visitors are pressured to agree to a timeshare sales presentation, using tactics like making you sit in a bar during check in, to get you to agree to a timeshare presentation before you can get a room key. I would not and never will agree to one of those presentations that try to pressure you into what's likely a very poor financial decision. See other reviews here for perspective on that experience. To be fair, Marival hides this aspect better than other places, you don't actually see the salesmen pitching people in front of you like at some places. I'm sure some people don't mind all that. We have been to this resort many times. The staff is excellent. Francis at the front desk will answer all your questions. Carlos at concierge is quick to advise on dinner, day trips, etc. The beach is beautiful with a full staff to assist you with umbrellas, cabanas, drinks, and food. There is a pool by the beach and one by the rooms. Ivan and the two Jose's will assist you with anything beach related. Our only negative experience was with the ice cream guy by the main pool. VERY negative attitude and rude. The rooms are spacious. This year our grown children shared a villa with 3 bedrooms and 2 fold out couches. The place was huge and has its own pool. Food is excellent with the exception of the Mexican restaurant which is only rated as fair. You can eat at either of the two resorts. The golf cart transport between Marival Distinct and Marival Emotions is quick. Make sure you arrange with Francisco at Marival for airport transport. It is $40 round trip. Very reliable and has picked up delayed flight guests at all hours. read more

Stayed here for Christmas, ruined our whole experience! We still stayed are 4 days but locked up all are valuables! One day of being there was fine woke up the next day went on a excursion came back snd my brand new, White, VERSACE, bag, was gone! Stolen I felt violated, how do you just steal from my room! I told the staff right away, they came in with police and checked the whole room as if I was hiding my own purse! Treated us like we stole my own bag! Until this day they want a picture of me on the resort with my bag! How if it was stolen!!!!!!! Funny thing is the maids, to the bartenders all talk day 3 I was approached on the beach by a bartender and he asked if they did anything for my missing purse! Weird but they can care less! We stayed in a wonderful 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with laundry. It was very spacious and clean. We did have some issues with the hot water and faucets leaking but maintenance came to fix it and the hot water was no longer a problem. The grounds are beautiful. There is a main pool and then another pool right on the beach. The spa is large and surrounded by bamboo and palm trees. The cabanas are included. There are four good choices for food. read more

This resort has so much potential unfortunately our experience was not the best. I usually do not write reviews but this one had to be shared due to the amount of money we spent getting what we thought would be the best penthouse experience in Nuevo Vallarta. Arrival - we were asked to sit in the bar for check-in. We were pretty tired from traveling so we didn't mind sitting. However, shortly after we were told that Eva would be going over our check-in. Eva proceeded to ask us about attending a presentation which we told her several times that we were not interested. She would not take no for an answer. We told her we were tired and hungry and just wanted to get to the room. She continued to hound us about attending. The only way we were able to get the keys from her was to agree to think about it and come see her in the morning. She was questioning us about attending another resort's presentation and even demanded to see our receipt for our excursion to prove to her that we bought it ourselves! This left us feeling very uncomfortable and even to the point that we "snuck" out the side of the resort the next morning to avoid seeing her. Room - upon first look it was nice. However, the toilet stopped working after the first flush and my husband had to fix it. There was a gecko/lizard in the room which when we called about they sent up maintenance with Lysol. Then he chased it around the room. We killed a roach in the bathroom as well. The shower head was not clean and had calcium buildup and the water was cold the first night and only lukewarm after that. The kicker was that we paid for a penthouse with a private plunge pool which we were excited about but when we got it we noticed the pool had missing tile with black mold/growth underneath and rusted lights so we didn't stay in the pool for long. Finally, we went out late one night and when we tried to get back into our room there were so many lizards/geckos above our door that we had to run inside and one fell down on my husbands head. Food - the sister resort, Emotions, had better food. We found the food at our resort to be bland and we both actually ended up with diarrhea. For a five star resort this did not meet our expectations at all. We were there to celebrate our 10 year anniversary but ended up with a room that needed major updating and cleaning, pressure to attend a timeshare presentation, and food that left us both sick. We will not be returning nor recommending this resort to any of our friends or family members. read more

The first impressions were very nice. Staff quickly greeted us at the car and walked us into a check in lounge where we were offered drinks and a gentlemen sat with us while our receptionist got our paperwork ready. I was waiting for the plea to join the timeshare talk to begin and after we were all checked in, that's exactly what happened. And taking no for an answer was not what this man wanted to do. We were tired and our 5 year old just wanted to begin her vacation. Finally, we were allowed to get our room key ( which they held on to until the time share man could get his time ). We were walked to the room, shown around and we were our way to vacation The property itself was very nice. The room was large and clean with all the amenities you will need on your trip. The penthouse had a balcony and upstairs a patio with a small pool, which was nice and relaxing. Every evening staff would come in and turndown the room and leave a candy or cookie on the bed, oh and they had a pillow menu with different pillow choices for your heads enjoyment. The resort itself was nice, very small, very quiet. My biggest complaint about the resort is there is not any smoking restricted areas. So the poor kids playing had to deal with the smoke of all the rest of the people staying at the resort. This includes the outdoor sections out the restaurants, and 3 of them are only outdoor. Gross ! It's 2020 while are you people being so gross ?? Finally the food. The food was not good! I'll show you a great picture of the fruit covered with bugs at the breakfast Buffett. The other restaurants were just OK, in fact we went out to eat one night to have a good meal even though all the food at the resort was included. However the service all over was amazing. They were always attentive and kept our drinks filled. Oh and the last thing. Their scam of " resort credit" of $300 should not be allowed to be advertised. they are just coupons requiring you to make a purchase to get the " credit ". Last time at fiesta Americana they gave you $200 and you have $200 to do whatever you want. This one was " get a free lobster if you buy 2 at full price. All in all, I would not return to this resort. There are less expensive options with way better food. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS PLACE-THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR WOMEN OR CHILDREN Very upsetting experience there-Upon getting into an Uber to airport the valet came out and screamed at my wife and 7 year old daughter. Threatened her and her Uber driver that he would call the police if they left. My daughter was crying and both were obviously upset. The hotel had our credit card from check-in, however used strong arm tactics to get them to come back in and give them her credit card again. This whole process took 25 minutes and all while the Uber driver was waiting and witnessing the whole incident. This was a money grab/scam to simply get $60 over a lost wrist band. The wrist band they gave my daughter fell off moments after swimming and never fit correctly. They took full advantage of a young woman and daughter as I know they never would have tried this sort of thing if I was there. Management was made aware but did nothing but say "sorry." We have spent another fantastic vacation at Marival District. We were concerned that the property may have lost some of it's luster due to covid, but our worries were for nothing. Marival was as beautiful as ever!! What makes Marival is the people and they all were as wonderful as ever. The grounds, the rooms, the drinks and the food were all top notch , as always. Overall I have to say I had a good experience at this hotel. The food was good, the staff was friendly and they don't try to push you with excursions. This is a great hotel for families with kids. It is not the best hotel if you want a party experience. It's very quiet, and there is no Dj at the pools. Rather they play relaxing music. My only complaint about this hotel was the alcohol was watered down. But I understand, why they do that. My recommendation is order a side shot with your cocktail. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our honeymoon. We overall had a wonderful experience. I have never stayed at an all-inclusive resort before, but I have been on a few cruises so I went into this trip with realistic expectations about the food (I never understood why people raved about food on cruises being so good-I figured it's just about the fact that it's all you can eat). The food here was actually pretty great! The restaurant menus aren't the most elaborate, but my husband and I agreed that we didn't have one bad meal. While the choices are not endless, there is something for everyone. I found the staff to be overall friendly & helpful, which made our stay pleasant. I will warn though that the catch with staying at an all inclusive means they will push you to attend their "VIP" breakfast (read: time share seminar). The woman who was checking us in & trying to sell us on it got her manager involved, claiming that she wanted to ensure to him that she was doing her job well. He tried to pressure us into attending and we stood firm in not going. He was really the only unpleasant employee we dealt with. We stayed in one of the penthouses with a rooftop plunge pool, which was amazing. The resort is overall quiet; not much of a party place, but one of the bartenders we befriended informed us that Spring Break time is usually more lively. I didn't mind it as I was there to relax. We did come during the rainy season, but the rain is minimal. It was humid and there were mosquitoes everywhere-don't forget your bug spray! One thing about transportation-if you are looking to get off property & head into Puerto Vallarta or any of the surrounding areas, I recommend getting an Uber. The resort won't like it as I think they have a deal with the local cab companies & they get a cut of the fare, but Ubers are safer & the prices are good. Marival is luxurious, clean and exceeded our expectations! Everything you would expect from a 4 Diamond Resort, in a beautiful and upscale location. The entire property is beautiful. Even the 1-bedroom villas are spacious, and modern. Our 1-Bedroom villa was equipped with 2 full baths, a full kitchen, a large, open-concept living/dining area, and a gorgeous balcony. This modern, streamline, luxe-resort made this stop very comfortable and we plan on returning as a couple, as well as with friends and family. If traveling with children, we would highly recommend Marival Emotions- much more fun stuff and buffet options (at least during COVID) for the kids! The pools are very nice, perfect temperature, and perfect depth. There's a nice shallow 3-foot width/edge, so those who enjoy interacting with people in the pool, but don't like actually being in the pool, will find it an excellent set up. There are several pools, a few luxurious quiet pools snaking along the beautiful lawns and ground floor rooms, as well as the main pool and the super awesome and fun beach level pool. The beachside pool seems to be where the action is at - very fun place in such a beautiful area! The beach area is lined with nice lounge chairs, and shaded cabanas for use during the day - kayaks, jet skis and small catamarans are also available. The servers along the private beach are amazing- they are attentive, efficient, and very tuned in to what you may even be thinking you're in the mood for. We were napping, and awoke to another umbrella to shade incoming sunset sun rays and ice water with pieces of fruit. Food and drink, as part of the all-inclusive program, are very acceptable. Marival must have this dialed. Portions are perfect- since you can always order more. Presentation of the food is very nice. Some California boutique, niche eaters may have to get creative, which the staff is more than willing to accommodate. (For example, I am allergic to dairy, eggs, and almonds, but still graze on meat). Each restaurant offers a completely different menu and most everyone should be able to find something to eat in each place. Outside of the all-inclusive, Nicksan has really great Japanese food (traditional and also creative. Thanks to all the breakfast staff at Omaggio that helped me get my morning espressos and juice prior to my workouts over at the gym! Staff members are the shining stars here. I try and practice Spanish, but it's hard when most everyone on-staff speaks really good English. I was never placed on hold, always assisted immediately, and feel really secure about any interactions at the resort. Certain individuals shine and provide a high level of service that made our time so memorable. Lupita and Miguel, working in the bar-Brunello, were amazing and were so happy to put on NFL football for a group of us. Great folks! Alonzo, also at Brunello, was willing to provide new and amazing cocktails, as well. Noemi, in the Concierge area, was a treat to deal with and helped us out with everything from the complimentary bicycles, reservations, and enduro bike rentals. Eva, part of the greeting staff, was so great! Jose, Lucio and all the bell staff were top notch! Always finding rides for us, nearly immediately and always cheery and fun to interact with. The spa staff were all so great, providing high quality Swedish massages and gel color for both of us. Alex, the staff member walking around with the birds of prey for (scaring off the black birds), was approachable and informative about the beautiful birds. Certain things made a big difference for us, compared to other all-inclusives. 24-hour room service, acceptable times for meals, and availability of food, drinks, alcohol and other free amenities, etc., were appreciated. The gym was a really convenient amenity. I really made use of it, nearly everyday. It was clean, well equipped, and was better than most gyms I've visited anywhere. Purified cold/hot water dispensers on every floor and in many other locations, provided a REALLY important amenity I haven't ever enjoyed before in Mexico. This is an amazing offering, especially with all the bottles of water people use, here and worldwide. I made use of it daily! I suppose my only observation where an environmentally-sensitive improvement could be made was regarding the bees. I did notice the smoking of bees, with some additive, and more aggressive than with traditional beekeeping. Many tens of bees would be dead in those areas and along pathways and corridors the next day. Extremely unsatisfied with the residence. Check in was a night mare, not to mention was asked for a passport copy, for a cash transaction. Which I felt really unsafe about it. Walked in the residence, and stepped into broken glass in the kitchen without me noticing , that it was not properly cleaned before checking in. At that point I inspected the rest of the residence and found more glass in the living room & one of the rooms as if the previous tenants had a fight of some sort. Called housekeeping, and yes cleaned in a rush due to her shift being over, the housekeeping manager didn't want to deal with it. I had to reach out to the front desk & discussed the situation. My wife & I, along with 2 other couples, were guests for 9 days/8 nights. Our rooms were amazing. 1400 square feet of luxury. No, I am not exaggerating. Fourteen. Hundred. Square. Feet. The resort was beautiful. I would post pics but I don't have any because I caught Montezuma's Revenge 4 days in. Many of the other guests had similar complaints but not to the degree I experienced. Long story longer... I believe the resort is lacking proper food handling instructions & guidelines. For example; food would be served poolside with condiments that were warm to the touch. The wait staff would push "water in the glass" although asked for "bottled water". Also, there is a bird issue that requires a falconer to be present whenever food is around. He & his avian partner work hard to keep the birds away but at times the swarms become overwhelming. During the second day breakfast, I had granola (no big deal). After my meal, I noticed that the birds were eating the GRANOLA FROM THE SERVING BOWL!!! (burp...) 2 days after that I was stuck in my room with a severe GI infection. Regarding the ability to communicate with the staff; many staff were available but few had the english speaking skills to answer questions beyond placing a food or drink order. I wear a CPAP for sleep apnea. I packed enough distilled water to get me through about half of the trip. I asked the concierge for more distilled water. I specifically said "NOT FOR INJECTION" - just distilled, like for using an iron. The cost was US $10 for 1 liter (~$40/gal). In the states, I pay about $1/gal. When it arrived, using Google Translate, the label stated "For Injection". Situations like these I found surprising because they advertise & cater to US & Canada guests. 2 days ago, I was released from a US hospital after spending 4 days admitted for a severe GI infection. I lost nearly 15 lbs in a week. I also want my fellow Yelpers to know that this is not my first rodeo. I have been to All Inclusive's in Cancun & Playa Del Carmen. As a disclaimer many of the negative reviews on this page is for Marival Resort. That is NOT Marival Residences. Marival Resort is the economy all inclusive down the street owned by the same company. Marival Residences is the upscale Resort. Large pricing difference and experience difference. You get what you pay for. This recommendation is for Residences. This hotel is amazing! So to be clear, it is often mistaken for the Marival Resort, which is down the street. Although owned by the same company, the residences is the upscale, high-end resort, while the resort is your traditional economy all inclusive resort. This is an all inclusive diamond rated resort. We stayed in one of the four villas on the resort. They are located next to the pools and close to the actual hotel. You can see the pool and hotel from the front balcony, yet you have your own private pool and gazebo in the back. I can't even begin to describe how amazing these villas are. 4 bedrooms with private balconies and private bathrooms, an office, full kitchen, living room, pool, and private backyard. The residence also gives you access to a private beach area with bar service and restaurant service. Non motorized water sports are included, while the pool is beautiful and clean. The many restaurants to choose from give you the ability to have something different every night, yet high end and gourmet. If you are going to Puerta Vallarta I recommend you try out this resort! I was at this hotel with a group of my friends 2015 for a new year it was a beautiful hotel beautiful New Year party. One week ago I've used this hotel again and upset me the service and food it's still good but the conditions of the room it's horrible very old mattresses pillows sheets towels it's use millions times before they even wash slippers and provide to the people when they arrive hotel have an espresso machine in the room and they provide 4 cups if you want more three dollars each capsule we came with the two granddaughters they supposed to sleep on the sofa which is open to the bed when we open the sofa the mattress was very dirty old and where thin we have to use all blanket in the room to make their more or less comfortable this is horrible I wouldn't recommend this hotel until they update the rooms. read more

This place is beautiful and the staff is friendly and they go out of their way to be helpful. The room. One big big problem, there's not a full length mirror anywhere! The only mirror is in the bathroom and you can only see from the waist up. There is only one hook to hang the towels in the bathroom. One!!! The decor of the one bedroom apartment is gorgeous and it's spacious but I consider a mirror pretty essential for us ladies. Just an observation on day one. read more

This resort is the worst all inclusive I have ever stayed at in my entire life. Check in: we reached around 2 pm and our room wasn't ready. They said wait till 3 pm and even after that our room wasn't ready till 4:30 pm. Food: it's absolutely terrible. There are 4 restaurants with limited menu. If you order room service, they charge you 10%!!! Room service takes 50 mins no matter what you order. What's the point of this all inclusive. They take away the menu right after you order so that you don't keep ordering! Get the least from the money you have paid. They do not have enough bottled water and it gets over by 2 pm everyday. If you order a fruit plate- you will get all the cheap fruits and absolutely nothing good. Customer service: Oh My god! I have not met nastier servers ever. It's so surprising coz they usually work for tips. They did not even want to give bread to my toddler since we were not even the required dress code. I had to raise my voice to get one piece of bread so that my hungry child could eat. They were rude, arrogant and useless Room: we booked a penthouse and the water in the pool had dead insects floating in it. The mini fridge is empty with barely any drinks and no snacks. Activities for kids: none. There are some swings infested with red ants. They said we can go to their sister resort for night time shows for kids, which starts at 9 pm!! I have stayed at secrets and the finest in different parts of Mexico which is far superior than this property. Will never ever go there again. read more

Overall, I was disappointed and I'm not even a picky person. The food was really good, but didn't change much over the 6 days. Mexican dinner night was awesome! Don't miss it. Now for the hard parts. 1) The staff is snooty. You know the kind that fake smile at you then frown right when they look away. We tipped generously & often so that's not why. Tips are supposed to be included but definitely expected! Expect even ruder behavior if you don't tip enough or don't tip. 2) Service is super slow esp by the pool. The waiters often walk by without even making eye contact...it's like they're avoiding orders. You may have to re-order when they forget. 3) Though it's all inclusive, there is also irritation with food. My son went back for a 2nd pool- side ice cream & was met with a frown & head shake when served. There was no one else in line either. 4) The concierge said anyone can take the luxury cabanas but then the angry pool 'security' guy tried to kick us out since it is supposed to be only for permanent owners until 11am. Embarrassing. We went back to the concierge for clarification, he shrugged & said that it's okay but that is sort of a rule. He did say the 'security' guy is 'grumpy'. Uggh. 5) We did have a kitchen but there was nothing stocked, just empty cabinets, not even paper towels or dish soap. Nothing. No dish soap in the hotel apparently, when we asked. 6) They said the snacks in the room were refilled just with a phone call and it's all free...."even if you want a different beer, or more Coronas". Again, not the case. 7) We were told you could take dinners to your room, in fact, 'many people get pizza from Emotion & bring it back'. I was looking forward to having a movie night in, but hopes were crushed when they offered to put my pizza 'in a to go cup.' Eating in is not really an option unless you order outside the resort or pay for room service. I'm sorry to say, we will not be going back mainly for the snooty, fake friendly staff. read more

To whom it may concern, I'd just like to bring up some complaints/concerns about our stay here at Marival Distinct. We chose our stay based on reviews on Travelocity and booked the entire trip through Travelocity. This trip was meant to be a relaxing, fun, and a romantic getaway for my girlfriend Michelle's 26th birthday. When we arrived, we were told the fridge would be stocked, but once we got to the room we noticed that it was empty. After meeting another couple that was also staying at the resort, they mentioned to us that their fridge was stocked upon arrival. Not a big issue, but we did feel slighted knowing others received better attention. Shortly after our arrival, we were consulted by a staff member who assured us she could assist us with some fun activities to enjoy. We usually use Trip Advisor to book excursion or activities but decided Perla was a nice woman and trust her with our decision. She insisted that she could help us with planning what to do with the next few days. She offered us a free activity (Snorkeling at Yelapa) and a few discounts on others (ATVs at Canopy River, and a massage at the in-house Spa). The only catch was that we would attend a meeting the next morning for about 90 minutes but that we were not obligated to purchase anything. We decided to follow through with her plan because of what she was offering us. The next morning she took us to a nearby hotel and introduced us to a man named Julio Cesar whom we spent over 2 hours with. During the meeting I felt he was very unprofessional. He talked about how he spent 7 months in jail once in the US, his side business of selling psychedelic drugs derived from a local toad, and his experiences with certain drug usage such as with DMT. We didn't appreciate him pitching us an extravagantly expensive timeshare and felt we had wasted our time with him all morning. Michelle booked us a couples massage on the beach the following day and was charged $200 even though we received a coupon that should have reduced that charge to only $120. When the massage was rescheduled due to rain, we asked concierge why we could not use our coupon, to which he responded; because the transaction had already been completed, he could not offer a refund. In our room, the air conditioning unit was not working and also leaking water. This was fixed after calling down to for service. But yet again, another inconvenience. On the day of Michelle's birthday (Saturday September 26th) we decided to eat dinner at Omaggio. There I notified the waitress that it was Michelle's birthday and they surprised her with a piece of cake and that had "Happy Birthday Lusia" written on the plate in cream. Not sure how this mixup occurred but Michelle took notice that the waitress got her name wrong. Finally, the most serious of our concerns, the Canopy River ATV experience turned out to be a nightmare situation for us. During the excursion, Michelle took a tumble on the ATV and ended up with a large, deep laceration on her right thigh. She was injured badly and lost a lot of blood. The ATV guide was panicked and did not know how to handle the situation at first. He ended up wrapping her leg up in gauze as we awaited someone to come get her. While waiting, he mentioned that accidents occur often on the ATV excursion and that a couple had taken a fall off a cliff 2 days prior. There was also horror stories of serious injuries sustained on their zip lines. After treatment from a nearby medical facility, a representative of the company offered to pay for the medical expenses in exchange for a release of liability for the company. The hospital staff also mentioned to us that they've had a lot of patients stemming from injuries on excursions from the same company. Our problem with this, is that this excursion was recommended by your staff member and concierge. Even though the excursion is operated by a third party company, we had the confidence in your recommendation that it would be a fun and SAFE activity. After hearing about all of the accidents and injuries other vacationers have sustained, we feel this could have been avoided had your company done its due diligence before recommending them. Came here for my bachelorette party and I know my girls spent good money for the rooms because it was spacious for all 10 of us and the view was beautiful. The restaurant and bar staff were kind and hustled to our service. CONS: * the cleaning crew steal money!! We had a total of $500 USD stolen even when we had the "do not disturb" sign hanging on the the door. So lock your luggage when you leave because they don't respect your privacy. * the concierge service were rude and not helpful at all! After we asked them to check the security cameras and the cleaning log to see who came and cleaned our room, they asked to go and search all of our rooms and made it seem like we were lying. Every time we come to ask about the situation, they keep saying "we're investigating" but nothing got resolved. And apparently no managers are onsite on the weekends. How convenient! * the hotel transportation was a fail. The driver said that he never received an email confirmation 3 days before even though we have the email thread saying we did. * the water in the showers doesn't get warm, stays cold at all time. * the manager from one of the nicer restaurants that we had to make reservations for asked one of our girls to cover up because she was wearing a bathing suit under her cover up BUT didn't say anything to the other tables with an older lady in her bikini walking around. This hotel has beautiful rooms that compensate for it not being a beachfront resort. We were very disappointed with the service as well as the quality of the food and available choices this time. We had a penthouse with the private pool on the second floor. As soon as we entered the room I felt a strange smell and called the concierge, they send someone with Lysol air freshener. The day after I woke up with a headache and called again, someone came up and said there is a gas leak from the laundry! He then said it's fixed. Came back from the pool the smell was worse than before. Hotel has very poor management and service is close to zero. The gas smell was still there on day 3 and they couldn't fix it. The night before we leave they finally asked us to move to a different room which by the time they had a room ready for us was at 10 pm. New room's bed sheets were badly stained and fridge was empty. The other cons were their elevators on the side buildings that smelled like cigarette smoke at all times and in the restaurants with small kids present people would start smoking on their tables. Make sure you close the upstairs door to the pool area since there's a service door that has no luck and your neighbors can easily walk into the rooftop. Regarding the food, you may see they serve lamb chops or stakes, they are all pre made and they warm it up in the microwave, and most of the time your food is completely cold. If you ask them they take it back put it in microwave and bring it hot but it just doesn't taste right when the meat is not made per order. There's no real buffet at this resort, just a very selected small one for breakfast. Overall this was my third time at this resort because they used to have very high standards, unfortunately I do not recommend this resort to anyone since for the past two times every time service and food was worse than the time before. read more

Excellent experience the hotel was clean and updated. The food was excellent the 2 bedroom penthouse with a plunge pool was spacious with a full kitchen. You have the option of taking a shuttle to the beach or you can walk 5 minutes to it instead so we choose to walk there everyday as we'd rather for the cardio. When we arrived for check in there is a little push to set an appointment to buy into the resorts membership which we did. After attending the 90 minute session it was a great option for us as we travel frequent to the different Marivel resorts so it's a huge savings if you visit there resorts. It's definitely not a time share as some have stated . Overall it was a fantastic experience for our entire family. We will be coming back this year. read more
