Nice family run place. The person helping us was very friendly. We had an assortment of the empanadas, and some of their desserts (churros, rumball, eclair). The empanadas tasted great. Really hit the spot once you heated them up. The desserts were pretty good. Prices were reasonable.

Decided to come here based on the 5 star reviews. The store has tons of beautiful pastries, tarts, savory and sweet treats, bread, frozen lasagna and much, much more! Service: The front store person was kind and helpful. Efficient in service. Food: Spicy chicken empanada. The skin of this pastry is thicker but not that thick - I feel like it had a bit of "rubberiness" - not exactly sure how to describe it. Thick enough to hold the savory and spicy chicken filling but not super thick. The filling was like minced chicken mixed with some veges. It has a strong spiciness and decent flavor. 3/5. Arancini - this has a really nice thin crispy layer on the outside. The inside has a decently thick layer of rice and then further inside is beef. It is pretty big though! Good flavor. 3.5/5. Donut - this is a pretty big donut, dough is decently fluffy. I did find the dough lacking sugar within itself but that's probably why there's powdered sugar on top. The custard was not bad - it was light in sweetness, nice creaminess against the donut. Might try another filling next time. 3/5. Price: The three items came to 11$ which is not cheap in my opinion. I'll probably come back to try some of their cake items.

This is the quintessential family bakery making sweet and savoury baked goods on site. The family is from Uruguay, so you'll find lots of South American favourites like empanadas, alfajores and facturas. You'll find lots of treats from various cultures like Italian, French and Portuguese. There is also a limited selection of fresh based breads that are reasonably priced and an impressive espresso machine whipping up all your coffee needs. I came in at 9am on a Sunday morning and items were still coming out. I asked for donuts which were just made and not displayed. The service is outstanding. I was asked what filling I wanted and they went out back and filled them fresh for us. I order half dozen. 2 Nutella, 2 raspberry and 2 custard filled. They were finished out back and still warm when I picked up the box to take home. They're all very big, heavy and delicious! We also ordered various biscuits by weight. There was a large selection and equally delicious. This neighbourhood gem is worth a visit even if you don't live nearby! Don't forget your coffee.

Very nice, relatively new bakery in Newmarket, am really happy with my first visit ; the owner is very friendly and welcoming The shop is clean and bright and everything is laid out nicely - lots of beautiful offerings, and everything looks delicious Purchased a few chicken empanadas which were really tasty and made me regret not trying the beef as well and churros which were some of the best I've ever had Will definitely be a return customer

I got different flavours of empanadas. I liked the spicy beef and chicken as well as ham and cheese flavours. Didn't have a chance to try it's pastries this time but I will return to try next time!

I am obsessed with this place!! Ever since trying it I don't go anywhere else for desserts My absolute favourite place to get donuts!! Insane value for the quality of desserts

Spanish donuts filled with Dulce de leche (but comes in chocolate and custard filling too)

Along with my lunch I felt like something sweet. As more and more donut places are opening up it's hard to find a bakery that has this much assorted baked goods and deserts as MarJo. From the cute little delectable assorted cakes that are filling, flavorful o could stop there! Spanish donuts. What's that? Well for just a little over $4 for 4 I thought why not try! Little did I know these aren't so little but the size of my fist with your choice of filling:. Chocolate, Dulce de leche, custard. All I gotta say is .. try it.... And bring 3 friends lol Lastly but certainly not least who could not love some churros and not tiny ones either but nice size with the right amount of sugar. The next thing I saw last minute that I will be trying soon.... Empanadas! All in all great presentation of food, delicious, fairly priced and worth a visit if you have a sweet tooth.

Came by for fresh baked goods after hearing such great reviews and also because we are Uruguayan as well and happy to support a fellow friend! First off the staff is super friendly and made us feel at home. We picked up a dozen pastries, from sweet and some savoury and all so delicious and as well a few crusted buns that make for a great sandwich, which my boys love! Definitely will be back again soon for more!!

I am absolutely obsessed with their mango mousse dessert. Not only is it pretty, it is also amaaaazing. Plus the owner is super helpful and kind! I definitely want to come back.

My husband found out about this place while searching for a local bakery open during this time. The week before we got a big assortment for my father and surprised him with Nata (omg delicious), turnovers and others. My dad is "not into sweet foods", but had one of everything! Came back today for my Father in Law, as a surprise for Father's Day. We decided on some fancy looking items like the mango mousse (whoooa), red velvet cake, etc. It all was a big hit! The prices are incredible and the variety is always changing. Get in early because lots of the popular items will be sold out!

Stumbled upon a new bakery in North York/Scarborough. They have only been open for a week or so but from the taste of the pastries and churros they definitely know what they are doing. It is a small cafe style bakery which offers european style pastries, Argentinean empandas, and delicious churros. It was a great find and hopefully they are here for a long time

Variety of choices at $2.99 each.

Pastries at $2.99 each. Rum balls at $1.99 each. Butter cookies at $11.99/lb. Churros at $1.25 each. Fillings: chocolate and caramel at $0.75 each. I ordered the following: Mango mousse x3 Pistachio roll x4. Choco mousse x2 Ferrero x2 Pistachio mousse x2. Napolitan x2. Hazelnut x2. Chocolate x2. Exquisite selection and taste. Prices are reasonable.

This place has a variety of sweet bread and savory bread. Items are reasonably cheap. I got a chocolate pistachio cake at $2.99.

Their chiffon box cakes are great value! We order the durian chiffon box cake (20$) and it was generous packed with durian! Let me start this by saying that this place totally exceeded all my expectations. I actually had…read morevery low expectations to be honest, but ultimately I am already talking with my other half about when we can come back and try more of their offerings as we just really liked their cakes. So bit of background, its my other halfs birthday and she had a craving for a mielle cake. I jumped on google, searched around and found Sweet Planet. Reviews seemed mixed, but I never let that deter me from giving a place a chance. Their website is clean and simple, with an online ordering system. To be honest I found their website to be a bit sketchy and I wasnt sure if it was legit! So I called the place and spoke to someone to confirm that they would be able to make the cake in the time frame I needed. When I called the person just said hello, answered my question very briefly and we hung up. It was a very "matter of fact" conversation, no pleasantries or friendliness. About as neutral as you can get. Getting here, we had to drive around the entire building as there is actually two cake places both starting with SWEET. I think the first one I saw was sweet CHASE, but I was looking for sweet PLANET. Store front had some colorful window coverings and a simple "open" sign. Opening the door you immediately are facing a register and a big white wall behind. I heard someone yell out "HELLO" from the back and we started our conversation from there with an order number. I was in and out in 2 minutes, again no pleasantries - Just fast and efficient. Now the cake - Delicious is probably the most appropriate word. The cake came in a plain white box, and wasnt exactly instagram worthy in appearance but it was acceptable. So all this combined, my expectations were low but I am always hopeful to discover hidden gems. This was a hidden gem. We got a strawberry mielle crepe cake - The strawberries tasted nice and fresh au naturel. There was no weird sugary glazing on top, just plain old sweet strawberries. Through out the cake there was also diced strawberries. The crepe was super melt in your mouth thin. The star of the show was all that fresh hand whipped cream goodness! You could definitely tell the cream was freshly hand whipped, light, fluffy and not overly sugary with a very clean tasty finish. I have had other cakes where it leaves a bit of a after taste where you need to wash it down with some water or something, but this was just plain tasty. If I had a friend that was a pastry chef and I asked for a mielle cake - This is what I would picture getting. Well done and tasty with no frills. Bottom line, we will be back and I have no problems recommending this place. It definitely gets the job done :)

We were there on Boxing Day at about 10:15am. There was a limited selection of savoury and meat filled Chinese buns at that hour. Baked Char Sui bao, Cheese, Ham, Sausage buns. The fresh cream bun was added at this time. If you wanted Taro or Custard filled buns or Egg Tarts, there were none on the shelves. There was a posted board outside the bakery offering "buy 6, no tax and receive one egg tart". I bought six buns and received a small HK milk tea, which was fine instead of an egg tart. The buns filling and dough texture was so-so imo, when I compare it to buns available at Markham Chinese bakeries. However, it filled our need while we lined up at another store on the day.

I was there overhearing that they will be having their grand opening soon. You can find your classic buns here like sausage bun, pineapple bun and char siu bun. But they also have specialty buns like fried chicken sandwiches, garlic cheese sausage buns and more. Buns are fairly priced here as well in my opinion with fried chicken sandwiches being less than $4. They also sell whole cakes and slices of cakes which looks really good. Interior of the bakery is beautiful and newly renovated. It's brightly lit and super clean inside. The one cashier cashing me out was friendly and chatty which I enjoyed. Telling me that VIP cards will be available once grand opening happens, but didn't know the exact date of their grand opening yet. Make sure to check out these affordable and tasty buns!

Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.

I was walking over to Hana Don and noticed this Lucullus Bakery on the other side of the mall entrance from where I'd be having lunch. I love Lucullus. My first visit was at its Yonge Street location, just south of Finch Avenue West. I recently visited its downtown Markham location and loved it. After lunch, my friends and I parted ways. They went home. I headed to this bakery to check it out. You enter the bakery using the mall entrance. There is seating inside this bakery. It was busy on a Sunday afternoon at around 3 pm. I grabbed a wooden tray and tongs. I looked at what felt like an endless lineup of baked goods. Thank goodness I was full from lunch. I would have bought a ton more if I were hungry! My haul consisted of these items: - Double chocolate croissant - Fried curry beef bao - BBQ pork bao - Curry beef puff - Egg and cucumber sandwich - Cheese dog - Large iced lemon tea The other two Lucullus locations have tea drinks that you grab out of the fridge. This one makes hot and cold teas on the spot. Two male staffers were behind the counter. One took my iced lemon tea and asked how I liked it. I said without sugar. I wanted the large size because I needed a drink to get me home. He put my baked goods in individual bags and sealed them. He then put all goods in a plastic bag. The other male staffer went to make my drink. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and got my receipt texted to me. I waited patiently for my drink. I thanked the man who made it for me. I had this drink when I got in my car. It was perfectly cold. I loved the lemon slices and lemon flavour with the tea. It was excellent! My baked goods last a couple of days. They were delicious. The egg and cucumber sandwich was yummy. Think egg salad, but simplified with mayo and cucumber slices. Sometimes, simple is all you need. The bun was soft and yummy. I loved the curry beef puff. It's so flaky with the best curry puff filling. I've had the chocolate croissant. It's amazing with dark chocolate inside a buttery croissant. The double chocolate croissant is an extension of it. This kicked-up-a-notch version has dark chocolate drizzle and powdered sugar on top. It didn't taste overly sugary with the latter on it. The dark chocolate drizzle was fun to eat. It had hardened such that you could take a piece off and eat it. I love a good cheese dog bun. This one was cheesy and yummy. I went through a phase making them at home. I don't think mine compares to how amazing this one. It had hot dogs and cheese baked a flatbread wannabe, but still fluffy like a bao. I crave another one. The BBQ bao was hefty. It had so much filling in it. There was more BBQ pork goodness than the bao holding it all together. If you love protein, this bao gives you the best bang for your money. Yummy! The biggest surprise was the fried curry beef bao. It had the same amazing filling as the curry beef puff. What I didn't expect was enjoying a hard-boiled egg in it. What?! It was brilliant and so tasty. Parking was a bit crazy. I parked by the shuttered Hudson's Bay store. I"m hoping that it's much better during the weekday. I want more. I need to return soon. (188)

There were pieces of lemon in the talk cup, and 1 sugar was perfectly balanced the black tea and citric acid tastes, and not sweet at all. I would like to try their cakes next time, they look amazing.
