Spend a little more but get a LOT more back…read more I'd never gotten my taxes done on my own before this year (my parents always claimed me or my accountant aunt was nice enough to do them) but I wanted to actually sit down with someone and go over everything to make sure I was getting the most money back possible. I have to say, I really think my specialist here did an AMAZING job - I never thought in a million years there were so many little things that I missed in years before that cheated me out of some good money. It's super easy to make an appointment, and they're very accommodating if you need to reschedule. Basic state & federal taxes run about $70 - but since I had a few extra forms to file, I was a little shocked when I saw my bill was $200. But all in all, it would have taken me a lot longer to figure out all these 3829T and 2039G and all these crazy form numbers and how to do everything so what you need to know is you pay for a service here. An hour, in and out, and you're done. They offer a $30 protection plan (ask for it to be waived if you're a first timer) that covers 3 years after the taxes are filed in case you're audited and it covers attorney fees and up to $5,000 if you owe any money back. Pretty good deal, I'd say. Again, a little pricey, but you pay for convenience and piece of mind from that ridiculously impossible IRS website and all their crazy forms. *Ask for Janie Wilson, she's super friendly and knows her stuff!
