Sorry, this is long but I felt the need to be thorough…read more During my first appointment with Dr. Jones, I was told I had 6 cavities that immediately needed to be filled. Given I had never in my life had a cavity, I decided to get a second opinion. I actually got 3 second opinions (I don't play when it comes to my health!!). All three dentists said that I did not in fact have cavities. The markings on my X-ray were all independently diagnosed by three different dentists as incipient lesions (pre-cavities or even pre-cavities that have been remineralized). Many old school dentists like to drill away at these before they get a chance to spread. The latest research supports watching these incipient lesions and attempting to remineralize the enamel to stop the spread of the decay. This can be done by means of good dental hygiene including regular flossing, fluoride treatments & prescription toothpastes. Of course, it's not guaranteed. Drilling and filling should be a last resort if the lesion begins to spread as revealed by serial X-rays over the course of multiple visits to the dentist. A good dentist compares X-rays to see if these cavities show any changes. I'm not a dentist nor am I attempting to give advice but I thought this was interesting. None of this was explained to me while I was getting my exam. All of this I learned from other dentists. I was just told by this office that I had 6 cavities and needed them filled as soon as possible. (Also, this may have been an honest mistake but I was told in the office that I had 6 cavities but later received an email estimate for only 5 cavities.) I wholeheartedly believe Dr. Jones has his patients' best interests at heart. He is very kind and immediately makes you feel comfortable. However, I believe his approach is a bit aggressive and maybe even a bit antiquated. As a nurse myself, I look for health professionals who use an approach that presents the least risks to the patient when possible while also implementing the most recent, up to date clinical research. TLDR: Very kind dentist but if you sit down in that chair and are suddenly prescribed a lot of work (especially if you have no significant dental history), definitely get a second opinion!!

She took her time with me as opposed to other dentists who just pop in for five minutes at the end of your appointment. Her assistant Gabby, was also really friendly and polite and tried to make the x-rays as easy as possible. Lynn at the front desk went out of her way to get me on the schedule and call my insurance to see what would be covered and when since I am on a recently purchased insurance plan. I had a really questionable dentist back in CA and avoided going to the dentist for a while when I moved out here. I guess you can say Dr. Schtakleff has restored my faith in dentistry :P. She didn't pressure me into fancy dental gadgets/procedures but told me affordable ways to manage my teeth and stop any issues before they get worse. She even did my cleaning herself! Another major plus is that the entire practice was crystal clean! Everything from the bathrooms to the sanitized tools, to the fact that both Gabby and Dr. Schtakleff are decked out in surgical scrubs! You had me at "hygiene."

They had not seen the dentist for any work. I went in because my tooth was killing me. I could not tell which tooth was hurting me because I was in so much pain. They did $345 of X-rays and the dentist looked in my mouth, NEVER TOUCHED ANY OF MY TEETH TO FIGURE OUT WHICH TOOTH IT WAS, she looked only at the X-ray and said it's two of my teeth. Sent me to an oral surgeon to have them removed. Well, they were not the teeth hurting me but now I don't have two teeth. She then would not send a referral over for the actual tooth that was killing me. I went to a new dentist and they said yeah that tooth has to be removed that it can't be saved. So now three teeth gone instead of one. I should have had the choice to remove the two teeth that were not hurting me. The oral surgeon is a whole other story. I told him no one had touched my tooth and before I spent $1000 to have them remove is he sure those are the ones hurting me. Well, as we know he made a mistake too. Total failure on them. A dentist and an oral surgeon should actually touch your teeth before removing them and do a cold test or tap test or something. I don't understand how none of this was done. I was in so much pain I was relying on a dentist knowing what they were doing.

I had a major surgery coming up and I needed to have my dental issues clear before the surgery. A male Spanish speaking dentist worked on them, at the very same moment he installed the first bridge I told him that it didn't feel right, the owner of the place came and worked on it for a few minutes assuring me that after a few days it would feel fine, that I needed to get used to it. on the second bridge he installed a provisory one. I called a few days later and send many emails saying that the bridge he installed didn't feel right, that food was getting stuck and shape was not matching the rest of my molar structure, the color was way off compared to the rest of the teeth and I had a sensation when chewing. They ignore my messages for a long time. When they finally responded, they did so with the assumption that I was going there to pay for the one that I had the temporary tooth worked on. I told them that I needed the one that was given me issues fixed. They said in an email that I needed to pay for the temporary bridge over $5000 in order for them to fix what they did wrong. In January a few months after my surgery, I responded saying that I only wanted them to fix what they did wrong with my bridge, basically I wouldn't allow them to work on my mouth on the other bridge. They were only thinking on the money without any regard for my health, they were upset because I complained that the bridge they installed was a mess. And kept saying that it was me that I didn't like it. I told them that is not about like or not liking it, I complained because they did a terrible job with it, and to this date is causing lots of issues and discomfort. Then they send me a message saying that they didn't want me in their office again and saying that they will not send me to collection for a balance due on my account (I don't owe them anything, I paid a lot of money for the bridge they messed up). unless they also charge to answer emails. I am very upset and disappointed with Stapleton Dentistry of Cary. They treated me very badly, unprofessionally and without any compassion even though I explained to them that I was going to have a major surgery. to this date I am still struggling and suffering with the messed they did on my mouth, trying to save up to go see a professional dentist.
