They weren't. Dr.Ellant tried to sell me $3000 implant-lenses (per eye), even though I am on Medicaid. This cost would have come out of my pocket. I declined. Then came the offer of $1800 lenses (per eye). I declined. Then he suggested that any eye drops I would need could be PURCHASED at his office. I declined. Dr. Ellant is quite slick; like a shifty used-car salesman.He is abrasive and somewhat of a bully.The staff employed there (at SIGHT MD) are professional and kind (with the exception of K.H., who is clueless about what her job entails).

Urgently referred by Dr. Marcus to Dr. Ellant to this location  to treat a glaucoma case. Contacted the clinic days before my appointment to be empathetic to the Covid-19 patients' prevention rules explained in their website and to inform them of my need of remaining with my caregiver (due to a mobility disability  at all times) while in the clinic to what they admitted it was fine. Today I showed up an hour earlier to my appointment "not by choice but to the fact that my medical transportation service did not take that long to get me from home to the clinic's location". Dr. Ellant's staff from the beginning showed an attitude of discontentment and as an alternative gesture on my behalf  (although I am a disabled person) I offered them I could come back close to my appointment time, which they agreed and told me to come back 5 mins before my appointment scheduled time. Prior leaving the clinic,  I asked if there were forms for me to fill out to what they responded "only 4 pages" easily completed when I came back?????? It was not possible for me  to come back 5 minutes before my appointment and instead I came back 15 minutes prior; instead of accommodating my disability needs they decided to send me out of the clinic into the street again, arguing that they were keeping the safe distance of patients in a place that is the size of a shoe box. My caregiver in an intent to make them realize how they could have addressed my special medical needs asked ....why they did not mentioned anything about arriving 5 minutes prior to the time scheduled of the appointment when they were initially contacted days before my appointment. One of the receptionist (caucasian looking) started arguing with my caregiver, not listening to what he was saying and pretending to be the victim to this unfortunate situation rendered to me as a patient. As a second time to be condescended to what we were asked for "we stepped out into the street  to wait for our original appointment time".  The same rude woman screamed from the clinic's door entrance inviting me only (not my caregiver) to come in to supposedly evaluate me prior seeing the doctor and insisted that my caregiver should remain outside until I met with the doctor. Just to make it clear both ( me and my caregiver had proper protective gear: 3 layered mask covering with filter, gloves and eye protection) I tried to explain to her the need of my caregiver to be with me at all times and she then responded  "ARE YOU COMING IN OR NOT". Dr. Ellant please be advised that I made a huge effort based on my disability and urgent referral to meet with you and due to your inconsiderate, rude inflexible attitude of the management  staff working at your clinic  I had no choice to take care of my well being rather than keep being mistreated by asking to be submitted to suden whims of such unprofessional and selfish staff. Is unfortunate whether or not you are directly or indirectly responsible for the poor initial service new patients requiring your specialty have to walk away with. I would advise you to really take into consideration the bad experience I went through by addressing immediately the nasty attitude receptionists have at this location otherwise these type of incidents will continue to happen. I am in complete agreement that "we all have the right to remain safe by any potential exposure to the covid-19  and as patients in need to medical professionals like you.... we are doing our part; if the clinic space is too small and the management staff is not empathetic to patients' needs then consider a way of resolving all these by not booking so many patients at once for such a small clinic and changing your management staff to people with the right kind attitude to represent you. He performed my cataract removal and intraocular lens implantation many years ago and transformed my hyper-myopia I'd had all of my life (20/2000 in one eye, 20/1500 in the other) to nearly PERFECT vision and took me from wearing thick ugly glasses since I was 8 years old to not having to wear any glasses except for driving, seeing vast distances (i.e. visiting the Grand Canyon) or in the movies. When I had a serious, EMERGENCY problem requiring a retinal super specialist, he saw me at once and got me into the specialist's office immediately. He is a superb clinician and a warm, compassionate physician and you will not find a finer ophthalmologist anywhere in the NYC area.

The Office sent us a bill for each of the service performed mentions the "same description of the examinations" performed in the invoice. But each time the deductible charged by the insurance was different. So confused, we contacted the insurance and they mentioned that each time a different CPT code was used. I called the doctors office they were not helpful or did not want to provide the details of the service and asked me to check with insurance. Confused, so just landed up paying without knowing why they were using different CPT codes for each of the service and why it was different. I think patients owe an explanation of the services performed in the invoice.

Very disappointing experience…read more Before arriving, I called to inform the office that I would be running late and specifically asked if I would still be able to see the doctor. I was told that it would not be a problem. However, when I arrived, I was suddenly told that I would need to reschedule. No one contacted me in advance even though they were aware that I might be late. According to the hospital's appointment system, the visit is listed as 15 minutes. When I arrived, I was unexpectedly told that the appointment would take 2 hours, yet no one could clearly explain why. If the appointment actually requires two hours, it raises the question of why I could not be seen the same day after confirming my arrival. The 15-minute late policy does not seem to be applied consistently, and there appeared to be little effort to help or find a reasonable solution. While trying to understand the situation, I asked several polite questions but unfortunately did not receive clear answers. At one point I briefly took a photo of the area, making sure not to photograph any patients or front desk staff. I was then told that photography is not allowed due to a sign prohibiting it, however no such sign was visible anywhere. Overall, the experience felt very disorganized and unhelpful. I remained polite throughout the entire interaction and simply wanted clarification, but none was provided.

Since switching to contacts I've had a couple eye issues that have popped up. It's always good to visit as Dr. Auerbach is actually really funny and good conversationalist. Anyone who wakes up before…read morethe sunrise in New York knows battling for a spot on the 6:00 am train alone can age you by five years. A few weeks ago, during my daily Manhattan mayhem, I started to notice that the street signs and subway arrows seemed to blur together. 95th and Broadway started to read 9th & Bradway; I was even having trouble making out the prices on the Dunkin Donuts menu not that it matters because after multiple trips to and from America's favorite coffee chain store, I've got most of their products memorized. After days of experiencing on again, off again blurry vision, I knew it was time to make the dreaded eye doctor appointment. I say "dreaded" because my experience with eye doctors in the past was just that. When I was younger I was diagnosed with a lazy eye, so was in and out of eye doctors until I grew out of the problem. From the age of about 6 to 16 my nose was pinched under a pair of glasses, and my eyes were poked, teased and dilated year after year. I had not visited an eye doctor in about 8 years and hoped whatever was causing my blurred vision could be easily treated. I began to cruise around my insurances website, looking for an eye doctor who was in walking distance of my apartment so that I could avoid giving the MTA any more of my hard earned income. I quickly came across a 315 Central Park West office, conveniently located on my side of town. I gave the office a call and because I needed to see someone after 3pm, was told to schedule with Dr. Robert Auerbach. I came to find that Dr. Auerbach only treats patients in the Upper West Side office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. His hours are wonderful for us working class individuals because unlike many offices in New York he has later availability. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Auerbach at 4:00 and after my usual chaotic day at work rushed myself to the office. I arrived to 315 Central Park West, early and had a moment to take in the incredible building. The building is beautiful, my first thought was "so this is what Cinderlla's Castle looked like". The building is made up of some offices and apartments, and I thought to myself if you don't work in this building....what do you have to do to live in it? Anyway, I entered Dr. Auerbach's office early, and was able to be seen almost immediately. There was zero wait time. His office assistant was warm and friendly and Dr. Auerbach was just as charming. I was quickly thrown back to my 6 year old self, when Dr. Auerbach pointed me in the direction of the bear like 'eye exam chair'. However, the exam itself was nothing like what I had experienced before. Dr. Auerbach did not just throw my head back and squirt a bunch of chemicals in my eyes; instead he sat down with me like an old friend, and truly listened to what I was experiencing. We even went over my family health history as well. When Dr. Auerbach did exam my eyes he did so carefully, and listened to my concerns about having my pupils dilated. I was afraid the dilation would affect my vision and had a writing assignment to complete that evening, Dr. Aurbach respected my concerns, and was careful to move quickly to get me in and out of the office in order to allot enough time for my eyes to go back to normal. Dr. Auerbach diagnosed what was wrong with my eyes, and I was happy to learn that it's nothing a few hot compresses and a little bit relaxation can't cure. Dr. Auerbach coached me on how I have great vision but some slight inflammation in my eyes, and explained that we should try the holistic approach, instead of going ahead and prescribing a bunch of eye drops. He did not push me into a prescription of any kind, or a procedure of any kind. Instead, just gave me tips on what I can do at home to improve the condition. Dr. Auerbach is very knowledgeable, courteous, and has a very warm personality. He takes his time to listen and understand any and all of your concerns and does not just shove a bunch of machinery in your face and tell you to read through it. I also observed Dr. Auerbach speak with other patients and you can sense how much he really cares and loves his job. Scheduling with Dr. Auerbach is a real treat that your eyes will Thank You for.
