Best doctor ever. I felt relieved to know Dr. Mikhael could fix my break. He was calm and confident - making me calm. Surgery was scheduled and performed without a hitch. Subsequent visits and I was healing fast. I was walking unaided again in 3 months. Physical therapy was scheduled and I'm healing. I highly recommend Dr. Mikhael. He's a great skilled doctor with all the answers. Truly enjoy my visits.

I am writing this review as a patient who has lived with serious back problems for many years -- so…read morelong, in fact, that at one point I even thought about becoming a doctor myself just to understand what was happening to my body. I have had back problems since I was 16 years old. Over the years, I visited countless doctors, chiropractors, and manual therapists, and I tried numerous devices and treatments for a herniated disc. Eventually, surgery became unavoidable. In 2022, I had my first back surgery with a different doctor. It went well, and I was able to return to my normal life. Unfortunately, after an injury, my same hernia came back. What followed were days of significant pain and sleepless nights after the injury. Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment within a few days, and Dr. Scott Lee immediately prescribed the right treatment to control the pain and stabilize my condition until the day of surgery. From the very first visit, Dr. Lee's professionalism, meticulous approach, and calm confidence immediately earned my trust. He carefully evaluated my condition, ordered updated MRI scans, and clearly explained the treatment options before choosing the best path forward. His manner was reassuring and thoughtful, which made a huge difference during such a stressful time. On the day of the surgery, something really stood out to me: the hospital staff were genuinely excited to be working with Dr. Lee. Everyone I interacted with spoke highly of his skills and reassured me that I was in excellent hands. They were absolutely right. The surgery went smoothly, without any complications. I was discharged about an hour later -- and unbelievably, I walked the very same day with no pain in my legs, feet, or back. That feeling was incredible and truly life-changing. Dr. Lee even personally called me after the surgery to check on my condition, scheduled follow-up appointments, and gave clear advice on recovery and post-operative care. This level of attention and care is exactly what patients hope for -- and rarely experience. I am deeply grateful for the entire process, from my very first call to the office to schedule an appointment, all the way through recovery. I would also like to give special thanks to the office staff, who were always supportive, responsive, and patient in handling my questions and requests. In conclusion, if you are looking for a spine specialist and are unsure where to go, don't hesitate -- go see Dr. Scott Lee. You will be thankful not only to him, but also to yourself for making the right choice.

After a quick exam on my mother, he determined she had piriformis syndrome and a stenosis condition, and he scheduled her for an injection that he was to perform. After the procedure, my mother's pain got much worse. He had prescribed pain killers, but they weren't helping. We called his office to see if she could take a higher dose, but after a couple of business days, Dr. Villanueva did not get back to us. We called a third time and were told she could take a higher dose. We asked for a follow-up appointment, since she was in even more pain than before the epidural shot he administered. Then the day before her scheduled follow-up, the office called to say they had to reschedule it to the following week. We got very angry that my mother clearly wasn't doing well and that we couldn't get his attention for a follow up. They then took us as a "walk in," and after several hours of waiting, the doctor finally got to examine my mother. During this visit, Dr. Villanueva prescribed a lumbar MRI. The MRI revealed severe stenosis pressing directly on the sciatic nerve. At that point it was clear that only spinal surgery could solve this issue. We proceeded to find a qualified surgeon, and my mother's condition improved dramatically about 3 weeks after the operation. I question Dr. Villanueva's ethics. He was quick to determine that my mother had piriformis syndrome, which was not the case. He should have initially referred her for a lumbar MRI to even see what the problem was. A principled doctor would have determined from the MRI that her stenosis condition was severe and not something a simple epidural could fix. Instead, Dr. John Villanueva took the insurance money to do his thing. We wasted a lot of time and went through a lot of aggravation instead of getting a competent diagnosis from the start. He was slow to respond and did not show empathy for my mother's extreme pain level.

This last Monday I saw the doctor as my left knee is hurting, the doctor prescribes an ointment to apply a couple times a day and I am to follow up in 30!days. My issue here and reason for a negative review is with the doctors staff, some of them cannot or are not able to do their job. Since Monday afternoon I've been waiting for my prescription.... I called Wednesday, two days after my appointment and after 38 minutes on the phone I was told it'll be sent to my pharmacy by end of day. Today is Thursday and four days since I saw the doctor and I still don't have my prescription. No one there at oss can seem to send over my prescription to Walgreens. How hard is this task I ask? Apparently some of the doctors new staff are incapable of performing simple duties such as sending over a prescription in a timely manner. No other doctors office takes this long.... Normally any prescription is sent electronically by the end of that day or even within hours of you leaving their office. Why are the doctors staff at oss unable to complete a simple task? We have called the office now twice since my Monday appointment. It should not require even a call to ask him um did you send in my prescription? Each phone call it was a game of not my fault and we are busy and have lots of patients.... None of these excuses hold any weight! It's your job to follow through and make sure simple tasks as this are completed. Clearly some of the newer staff are in over their heads. The staff used to be so efficient, polite and professional, yet now today that has sadly changed. Again, the doctor is one of the best in his field yet some of his newer staff simply are not up for the jobs they now hold and should be replaced by those who are more on top of their game. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed by how such a simple task as sending in a prescription that was written Monday has yet to be sent electronically to my pharmacy. It's almost comical but I am not laughing. Lastly, there are no excuses for incompetence nor for ignorance and unwillingness to just do your job, I'm sure these newer employees could use a Starbucks or Alfred's coffee card to wake up and perform their daily tasks with more proficiency and pride which is lacking at the moment. If that does not solve the issue then maybe let them go and hire those who can and will do the job faithfully. Lastly, and a second complaint if you will. Two months ago I needed to reschedule a procedure. I called and left two messages with dr. Jeters (another incredible doctor there at OSS, like Dr Yacoubian, on top of their game and profession!) scheduler and have yet to get a return call to reschedule. After two months waiting I went elsewhere It must be so busy there that one must call more frequently or simply walk in and ask to speak with the scheduler or whoever in person. Far more labor intensive than it should be in all sincerity. Appreciate and admire the doctors there, love most the staff and all the physical therapists upstairs are dedicated and caring, yet these newer staff members really need a good taking to and just do your job please with no excuses or anything but just do your job do your job!:)

My first doctor tried pain injections that provided relief for about 6 weeks. He recommended I see an orthopaedic surgeon. I will say that Dr. Moses has excellent support staff and the practice seems to run smoothly. I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor. That's pretty much where the good ended. before even seeing the doctor, I was taken in for wrist x-rays. Nothing was explained to me. When I saw Dr. Moses, I felt he didn't listen to my description of the several years of treatment I have undergone, instead he ordered MRIs that my insurance carrier would not approve due to the lack of medical reasoning that Dr. Moses provided. After my first set of MRIs were denied by my insurance I went for a second visit with Dr. Moses -- again, I was switched away for x-rays before seeing the doctor. Again, nothing was explained to me. And once Dr. Moses came in the room, he simply put through another order for MRIs. Not surprisingly these were also denied. At both appointments I suggested he include information of my past years of treatment to assist insurance in understanding the necessity for the MRIs. He did not. The second set of MRIs were denied by my insurance for the same reason. All in all I feel that this was an enormous waste of my time and money. I'm now going back to my doctor at Cedar Sinai, in hopes of finding an alternative solution.
