After having an unpleasant dental experience at an office that was always trying to upsell, being heavy handed with the cleaning (to the point I had to be numbed before they worked on me) and the front desk never knowing exactly how much I owed, I wish I would have discovered this office sooner. Hi yelpers I have been going to Dr Deering for 22 years now. He and his family were patients of my Dad who was a doctor. At my Dad's recommendation I went to Dr Deering because my prior dentist kinda sucked. I will say this Dr Deering is the BEST dentist I have ever gone to. His work is impeccable. I have never had an issue with any crowns or root canals that I have had done. The office staff is excellent and the facilities are clean as a whistle. Dr. Laura Kadlec is the best at cleaning my teeth. Both Dr.Deering and Dr.Kadlec are the kindest people you will ever meet. They are always upbeat and greet you with a big smile. I've seen Dr. Anna Kolentsova at this office 3 times (Dr. Kolentsova is the new dentist after Dr. Deering left) and it's been a great experience every time. She replaced two missing fillings and my bite feels perfect- no pain, no soreness. She is very gentle, joyful, and communicative. I never felt uncertain or worried at all, and I have a lot of dental anxiety. I've had a good deal of dental work and dental surgeries, some successful and some not, and she approached everything with knowledge and care. She asked me a lot of questions about my teeth and past experiences. I like that. I felt like she was treating my teeth, not just any teeth. The staff there was equally great. They helped me with my insurance and recommended researching another plan that turned out to be much better for the same cost. I've never waited more than 5 minutes, and I always knew exactly what the charge would be before the work was done. Excellent dentist all around. Highly recommend. read more

I've been going to Dr. Deering, his son, and their incredible team for almost 7 years and feel extremely well taken care of. The dental hygienist is the perfect blend of supportive and making sure you get and stay on track. (They've successfully gotten me to floss much more regularly.) All appointments have been thorough while being maximally efficient, and I guarantee my teeth are in significantly better shape because of it. I get cleanings 3 times a year instead of 2. Prior to finding them, I bounced between several other regular dentists in L.A., but I think the fact that I've been going for almost 7 years over this many appointments speaks for itself. Went into the office today for a teeth cleaning, as always the care was excellent and the staff was competent and efficient. But today I also had some questions about orthodontia and an upcoming appointment with an endodontist in another office. Even though all of the questions were outside of the services for which I was seeing them, everyone listened as was extremely helpful. Literally, I moved out of state 4-1/2 years ago and I STILL will see the Deerings EXCLUSIVELY! That's how much I trust them, that's how much I love their office and their staff! I have been doing to this office for a few years now and to say the least - this entire office is nothing short of the utmost professionalism and care for their patients. Not only is Dr. Deering extremely patient and informative of everything that a patient is going through, but their front office has the most detailed and aware individuals I have ever seen in an office. Michelle at the front desk is aware of the best times you would be available for a visit (even is considerate of how traffic would affect your visit) and remembers every detail about your insurance and reassures you of any questions you may have. I went here because my insurance was covered-anthem bluecross. After going in for a cleaning i got pulled into a deep cleaning where they clean under your gums and got a disgusting infection. They shouldn't have gone under my gums on my wisdom teeth but they did and we had already had a discussion about removing them too. On top of all my pain and suffering associated with this infection caused by their technician--who was kind of nervous and did a poor job of xraying me in the first place...i kept gagging.....they made me pay for it. I even wrote a letter stating all that I had to go through--coudn't eat solid foods for one week and it majorly just sucked and could have been avoided altogether. I love Studio Village Dental care. After years and years of going to the same dentist since I was a wee one, the Dr. Deerings made me feel right at home and happy with my change of venue. Since moving to the West Coast, I hopped around a few dentists and finally landed on one I loved. I pluralized Deerings because it's a family-owned business with now two generations of Deering doctors on site to focus on your grill. Dr. Mark Deering and his wife Dr. Deering, and now their son Dr. Deering. All of which have a WONDERFUL way with patients and make you feel so comfortable in their chair. Family photos adorn the wall and they have a beautiful family, all with beautiful smiles of course. The offices have the most up-to-date X-ray machines and equipment - and that, my friends, translates into minimal invasiveness. You see instant video/photos of your oral region which is very very cool. No old clunky machinery here. The staff is nice and courteous and they remind you of when your appointment is near and stay on top of you if you can quite book your appointment which is great for those who are really busy. The creme de la creme is they serve hot-baked chocolate chip cookies after your cleaning. Sounds weird right? Hot baked sugar at the dentist? Well, they claim you should indulge in life...you just need to brush your teeth after. :) With this indulgence in mind, I will keep coming back to this friendly family-owned dentistry practice for years to come.....hot baked cookies or not. read more

I just came from visiting him and I think him and his staff are really good people. Griselda took my xrays and Dr. Mark Deering came in to see me. He's a very nice guy and he let me know what was goig on with my molars. He saw how much pain I was in and gave me some instant pain medication. Thank God. I have another dentist but he is out of town so that is why I came to see him and he was kind enough to help. He suggested I wait for my regualr dentist to get back so he can do that work but if I would like I can come back to him. He didn't pressure me and I liked that. He's a good dentist. read more

This office never ceases to amaze me. I hate going to the dentist and yet when I go here, they always make me feel comfortable. Don't get me wrong, you still get the drills going and the smell when you walk into the waiting room but when getting my pearly whites serviced, I'm not sure if I could go anywhere else. I've been going to this office for as long as I can remember. He has fixed all my cavities (don't ask =\) and I have even had a gum procedure done here. I've had many dentists in the past and Dr. Mark Deering is at the top of his game. Ignore the bad reviews - there are always people who give 1 star reviews for even the most trivial issues. Dr. Deering is the most thorough and meticulous dentist I've ever had experience with. He's honest, easy to talk to, funny, and very communicative. Although it must have been what they experienced, I don't recognize any of the negative reviews that are on this page... I have been recently going to this dentist and have nothing but praise for dr Deering and his staff. His office is clean and modern. The rooms are small but they have windows so they are light and pleasant. There is street parking - no trouble finding a spot. Staff: very nice and helpful. They remember your name and what you are coming in for (I had a root canal and a crown). Dr. Deering is gentle, does a great job. He wasn't sure I needed a root canal and tried to avoid it, which I really appreciated. (My former dentist wanted to schedule a root canal without even taking pics). I also had a (deep)cleaning done by dr. Deering's wife. She was thorough and did a great job and although going under your gums is never a pleasant feeling, she did it so carefully that it was real easy to go through. I hope this review is helpful, for I had trouble finding a reliable dentist and reviews helped me a lot! If anything changes I will update this one, but until then: I am a very happy customer and hope to stay with this dentist for as long as I have teeth :-) read more

Ummm...I realize everybody has a different experience but my hour and a half in this office was borderline torture. First of all, they wanted me to get about 4,000 x-rays but the two ladies operating the machine had no idea what they were doing. Over and over they placed those horrible sharp plastic things in my mouth and had me hold them in place while they zapped away to no avail. Each one had to be redone at least 4 times until I finally had enough. Clearly they had no clue what they were doing. When the doctor finally came in he seemed extremely thorough but when one of his assistants was a bit slow to react to his request he absolutely snapped at her in front of me. Totally kicked her to the curb. Now mind you, I was hardly a fan of Miss Incompetent but I hardly think it was cool of him to lambaste her in front of a patient who by then had lost all her patience. A good doctor? Perhaps. A good experience? No way. read more

I'm writing on my wife's yelp to keep my identity somewhat protected. My experience here was not helpful. He's a nice enough dentist. But way too many x-rays too many times. The cleaning process was always a really painful deep-cleaning with highly-concentrated water stream. Also, of the three or four crowns I got, only two have lasted (so far) and it's only been three-four years. Crowns should last at least 20 - 25 years. I get that every dentist is human and dentistry is always changing, but I can't help thinking that between the pain, the x-Rays and the crowns that did not last, you could do better. I wasted tens of thousands of dollars with Dr. Deering, and I wouldn't even want him to fix it since clearly he does such a poor job. read more

I went here several times, and am generally unimpressed. Some strange things happened that made me think I should find another dentist: 1. During my cleaning I heard grunting from the hallway, and learned the dentist does pushups in the office. 2. Only open Monday through Thursday! Hello? People work! Plus they HOUND you if you don't schedule your next appointment. 3. They insisted on replacing several fillings which were less than 5 years old. Resulted in a crown ($800 out of pocket!). I asked if this was normal for fillings, that they needed to be replaced so frequently, if my previous dentist did something wrong, etc and the dentist just said "Nope." Then why are mine needing replacement after so little time?? He did not have an answer. 4. During the last visit, when the crown was to be put in place, the dentist couldn't find my nerve for injection of the anesthetic. After trying three or four times, he insisted I could tough it out and so continued with his work. My ear was completely numb but I had FULL sensation in my mouth. Not a fun hour of my life. read more

studio village dental, you're my knight in shinning armor! i had an appointment at a different dentist to get my extremely painful wisdom tooth looked at.. that dentist blew me off! It was 4:15.. I was practically in tears and rushing to find any dentist that would look at my tooth before they closed. the receptionist told me that if i could be right there, they would see me. keep in mind they close in 45 minutes!! they had me fill out some papers and got me right in. everyone was extremely nice and helpful! i got xrays and dr.deering looked over my teeth. he determined that my wisdom tooth was infected and gave me a prescription for some antibiotics. he referred me to an oral surgeon and i couldn't have been any more pleased by this experience. you guys rock! and if any of your staff sees this, thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for squeezing me in right before you closed! read more

Been going to see Dr Deering and his wife, Dr Kadlac for years and I do not live in the area. . I have always been happy with the service from either dentist and their staff. I am a difficult patient with getting x-rays done due to having a sensitive gag reflex. The doctor and his staff are always accommodating with doing whatever is necessary to get ease my reflex and get the x-rays done. I have recommended both Dr Deering and his wife, Dr Kadlac to numerous family members who are also very pleased with the service and staff. I wish yelp allowed more than 5 stars. read more
