For free, you can earn "stamps" that result in discounts (currently $5 off for every 10 stamps earned), and for a reasonable yearly fee you can upgrade to be a Premium member and earn 10% off everything every day. As an avid reader with a family of readers, it is totally worth it, and (do the math!) usually cheaper than competitors (*always* cheaper when I'm reading more obscure stuff). If you enjoy earning free stamps, it is worth signing up for the B&N newsletter to keep an eye out for double/triple points days. It was very clean neat and organized, and I love that the buying counter was on the front instead of way in the back like most stores I've been to. I almost left without buying anything but at the last minute ended up buying three books from the Little House On The Prairie series and a really cute Van Gogh bookmark. Total for all of that was only around $17. Such a bargain! The associate who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable.
