I was next door getting lunch and thought I'd stop by. I've had my eye on this store for a bit now, and decided to look around while my food was being prepared. I was open to the Manga I wanted by genre; it was a matter of finding the right one. One, I knew, would keep my attention. My favorite Anime of all time is DeathNote, so I figured this was the perfect selection. Several titles caught my eye, and I look forward to my next visit. The purchase price was reasonable; it was actually a bit less than the cost at some other places, and it was a great buy. The Store We Like but Keep Trying to Replace We've been here several times with both friends and family. It's a large but otherwise typical nerd store: cards, comics, minis, dice, events. It's all here in one crowded, slightly chaotic package. They've got a ton of bulk Pokémon and Magic cards in large, loosely organized drawers you can dig through for hours. You probably won't find anything rare, but it's a good time if you're the type to go treasure hunting for something. There's a decent selection of tabletop minis, paints, tiles, TTRPG books, and board games, nothing mind-blowing, but more than enough to get a new campaign rolling or add to your collection. The manga and comic section is sizable too, though I can't speak to the quality since that's not my scene. Events happen regularly, which is great in theory but a bit awkward in practice if you're not partaking. If you need access to the back wall where the tables are, you'll likely be squeezing past players mid-match. If it's accessible at all. The entrance can also get pretty bottlenecked depending on how many people are milling around. The store's clean enough for a hobby shop, but if you're a germaphobe, maybe bring hand sanitizer. The staff are helpful when asked and otherwise leave you to browse. Every now and then one might get chatty, but not in a bad way. The whole place is welcoming with that typical nerdy vibe you expect from a place like this. It's a very inclusive store, if that's your thing. The prices are as you would expect. If not on the higher side. We like Generation X. They've got the biggest selection of the stuff we're usually hunting for. Still, I don't know why, but we're always looking for an alternative. Maybe it's the clutter, maybe it's the crowding, or the drive. Either way, it's a reliable go-to even if it's not quite "the one." read more

We have been going to this store for years. My son loves getting his Pokémon cards there. This morning we purchased a booster pack that when he opened it at home 3 of the 6 packets had been previously opened. We called the store and they basically said tough luck. I went here for stocking stuffers. I didn't choose the dice life, but married into it. My wife, stepdaughter, and friends are dice goblins, so figured good option for stocking stuffers. One thing I like is that my wife loves the barrel dice (very difficult to find most areas) and found an awesome set that she loved. Another friend loves pride and loved the pride dice I got her her. They even have some amazing rose quartz dice I want to get my wife as well, but they were outside of our current budget, but great price for them anyways. The Pop-Copy of Comic Stores. Staff doesn't anything. They didn't know a certain character I was looking at in the Funko Pops, so they just made up a story that it was an amalgam of 2 unrelated characters combined together. It wasn't. The two characters have never met and are not related in any way. Why would you make something up out of thin air when you can just say "I'm not familiar with this character."? Just exposes you for being ignorant, unreliable and untrustworthy. But they make up for their lack of knowledge by being flippant, rude, dismissive and disrespectful to their customers. Wait, that's worse. Go anywhere else instead. Titan Comics in North Dallas, Madness Games and Comics in Plano, the Collected in Hurst, Keith's Comics in Dallas, More Fun Comics in Denton, and Awesome Comics in East Dallas are all better options than this place. read more

Id been coming here for over a week without any problems in service or products. I walk in today to buy a pack of cards and possible trade in some single cards. I ask an older looking man at the counter if they could do pokemon trades today, he responded 'We don't have a buyer' and that was it. After that I wanted to ask a younger looking man there, that ive talk to more than others, and asked what the older man meant. He tried explaining, and I tried to actually show him a small amount of cards that I was talking about. The older man very, and I mean VERY rudely interrupted him with "Didnt I just tell you we didnt have a buyer?". I tried explaining that I was just wanting an explanation on what that meant, "No you were trying to sidestep me". This was the first time I have ever seen this man and he was already being extraordinarily rude. This man was the OWNER??? He was the Owner. If you EVER see a much older man, walk out immediately. Huge store! If you are looking for toys, games or just nerdy stuff you'll find it here. Most important there are lots of comic books! With so much to look at the store is fun to visit and have a very attentive staff. Lots of things did kids. A huge display case for Pokémon cards. Finally a big section for Magic card games. Most important for me are the comics. They care pretty much all comics and graphic novels you can think of and are organized well. The back issues is my favorite thing. There is a well organized area made up of several rows of books! If you love to dig for treasure prepare to stay awhile! It is a bit of a hit and miss with many of the books not even bagged or boarded. But we are talking about minor books for the most part. All of their key books are displayed around the area. Prices are abit on the high side but what else is new. I recommend you visit the store! read more

This owner of this store has horrible customer service and is rude deserves no business. I called him to let him know I had a concern about some Pokémon packs I had just purchased. Keep in mind his product is behind the counter no one can get to it except him and his employees! So I bought 10 booster packs and opened 2 they had glue all over them and the third pack was completely opened and missing cards. I decided not to open the rest as his business just lost all of my trust. I called him he started yelling at me saying has no time for this and calling me a liar. I was a repeat customer and had been to his store numerous times. This is unacceptable behavior by someone that owns a store. I really like Generation X Games. I would give it 5 stars, but sometimes the staff is a little gruff and their used selection can be on the short side, but those are really my only complaints. Other than that they have a massive variety of things, ranging from trading and collectible cards, games, miniatures, gaming and fiction books, merch and much more. I am a DM for D&D and can get pretty much everything I need here. I've been considering running some games here as well, because that's an option. Overall it's really impressive, and one of the better stores for this in the DFW area. read more

Amazing comic book store with tons of great gems with all types of merchandise. Just like the reviews state, though, the customer service is horrendous here or I'd give it 5 stars. Prepare to be ignored and feel inconvenienced by being there. Came once 40 minutes before close and they were very annoyed and reminded us every 5-10 minutes of when they would close. We left 10 minutes before feeling so unwelcome and they immediately locked the door. Been here a few times and will keep coming, but hope the owner reads the reviews and makes changes as I'd like to think my standards for service is pretty low. read more

The guys working were really friendly. They ask you if you need help to find something and if you say no they leave you alone instead of glomming on like other places. If you do need help with something, they're really helpful. They're knowledgeable with their products as well, which is always a definite plus. There's a lot of stuff in the store, from comics to graphic novels to action figures and busts to RPG and wargaming stuff. As a nerd, I was in pure heaven. They also have a small section devoted to kids if you want to bring your kid along or are looking for a gift for your kid. Really cool place with a nice atmosphere. I wasn't able to get into table top gaming they had going on (there were several people playing various games when I walked in) but they had a nice calendar detailing upcoming events they were hosting. I used to live in this area in the early 2000s, (pre face book era for all the youngins). Me and my friends would come here and pay about $45 or so, to have all day LAN parties. The popular games at the time were: Rainbox 6 counter Strike, Age of Empires 2, the first Half Life Game, and there was some mafia themed FPS. Mage Knight was an up and coming minatures game, played a few rounds of that in the back game room. From what I remember, it was a cool, neighborhood comic book / game store. The guy who worked there went by the nick name Sly. Had comic book art work on the wall, the place was clean and well organized. If you check out my reviews of other game stores, I talk fondly of my gaming days (and how they are behind me). I am pleased to know this place is still around. I have shopped at this store for 6 years now and have always been given the best customer service. Mike, one of the sales staff helps me out and greets me every time I come in the store. If there is ever anything I need he will help me find it, or he will order it for me. Best place in town for the selection of comics, board games and collectibles. Highly recommended anyone looking to play Magic the Gathering, War Machine, Dungeon and Dragons, or any other type of Role play game stop by and see there enourrmass selection. So would like to begin by saying that Gen-X Comics is THE comic/gaming/collectibles store in the dfw metroplex. The only place you can go that has everything that you need for anything you are trying to do for your gaming or comic/collectible needs. This being said, I would like to start off by saying that all of these whiner-babies, that want to complain about the dust on things and how the staff or owner treats them when they come in...please just shut the hell up...you come into a private owned location, so yes you have to handle up on the fact that there isn't some corporate set of rules or policies that people follow so they can easily walk away from you when you need assistance. There has been years of construction in the area on the major roads and this is Texas folks, so if you live anywhere in the state you better chill out about the dust on things lol. never have I heard so many pathetic excuses to try and knock down a place that anyone can go to and get anything they are looking for in a place like this, and if they don't have it they will order it special for you! I will finish this up by saying that I suspect the respectful adults that enter this place will love it, but anyone who is looking for something to cry about should just go someplace else that won't have the selection, newest and older, or the service and opportunities to explore and learn from the educated staff about the products. This place employs people that are into the things that you are looking for, and yes some things are a little, "over priced" compared to amazon or ebay...But you can't order something on the internet and open it and play with it as soon as the money is out of your bank. So be respectful that someone has built a place up that used to be a hole in the wall location for people that are looking to be involved in whatever it is that you come looking for. Remember that it could NOT be there for you to find things you like and you would probably end up ordering it off the internet and hope that it arrives in a timely fashion to enjoy it. Over the years I've gone to this place less and less because the owner is just plain rude. Now days I don't go here at all anymore. This is the comic book store I've been waiting for! I'm almost embarrassed at the time I've spent trying out other local comic stores without even realizing Generation X existed. This store is comparatively HUGE and the service was far and above the best customer service I've received at a comic book store to date. So here's how my visit went: I walk in, I'm immediately greeted. Shortly after that, another employee asks what I'm looking for. He helps me look in all possible locations, then looks it up and determines they are out of it (as is EVERY other comic book store in a 15 mile radius). However he, unlike any other store I visited, immediately offers to order it for me. Then tells me if I have 5 books I regularly read, they'll pull comics for me weekly. THEN he recommends some things I would like based on the comics I added to my pull list! I have not received this level of service anywhere else local. Quite the opposite, I've left many comic stores feeling like I received substandard service. Because I'm a woman, because I'm not immediately identifiable as a nerd, or because they just suck at customer service - who knows? Gratefully, I felt nothing less than total respect and appreciation for my potential business at Generation X. They definitely hooked me into coming back here every Wednesday, knowing all my comics will be set aside under my name and ready to go. Additionally, this store just had everything you could dream of. A HUUUUGE wall of board games, shirts, tchotchkes, puzzles, they even have a children's section of graphic novels and comics. Awesome. They also had a huge gaming section with tables galore for those of you that are into that. I'm just happy to have a found a store that had almost everything in stock I wanted, was happy to order anything I needed, and promised to memorize my name within the next few visits. A little over priced but all the staff is really attentive and nice. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. We browsed and browsed. Saw some good gift ideas for my wife who loves Wonder Woman. Best comic store I've been too. Period. Huge selection of stuff for all ages. My kids loved their first experience in a comic store. Only complaint is owner needs to work on his people skills a little, he always seems annoyed. I use to shop here long ago (at their old location) and after moving away and back again I had forgotten this. You can tell he doesn't like small children, and he is just short with you and even more so with them.
