Market basket has an tremendous array of just about everything. You have access to a great selection of sales. They do have higher prices items - but sale items seem to always be within reach. Some of their sections that really stand out - 1- bakery 2- produce 3- cold cuts.... The Market is perfect for budget shoppers. read more

This is the brand new Market Basket located in the WestGate Plaza (Across from Chunky's) and replacing the small older MB in the same plaza. (store #9) This new MB is beautiful and modern, Huge, but not as big as the new one in Salem or Londonderry. Laid out similar, the prices were just again so much cheaper than the competition. They had so many special buys with coupons as it was the grand opening and some stuff was crazy cheap. Crowded yes, but this big store can handle it. read more

Honestly if I could give this store a zero star I will,the cashier on row number 10 Thursday night around 6pm to 7pm were extremely racist. Because I am a Asian guy.I have been shop grocery in market basket for years never ever had problem with cashier. But yet this one complete ruling my day. First she gave me a very dirty look no greeting no nothing,after she scaned all the items,I gave her my Amx credit she said "i need you ID" I go "why?"and she goes " can read you name"which clearly written on back of the card and I had no problem using it in any other market .and I go "my ID in my car" and she goes" go grab it "with straight face,that attitude I never experienced in my entire live,felt so humiliated. Such a wide selection and great prices. The ready to eat section is very good quality alot of stuff made fresh to order and way better prices than local sub joints. I LOVE the new store! The selection is fantastic! This is the only location in the area that has the new limited edition Polar Seltzer flavours. They have a cafe, a bakery, and lots of registers. I recognise that, because they're new, it may take time for them to determine staffing. There have been times where the store has been very crowded and less than half of the registers are open. Overall, it's clean and fresh and as exciting and fun to shop at than you'd expect from a grocery store. read more

At first I loved Market Basket, but the last few times I have come here I was disappointed. My main complaint is that the produce is really hit or miss. Sometimes I've gotten lucky with some delicious and cheap deals but the last few times I've gone things are kinda blah. I've gotten the prepared foods a few times and was disappointed. Other than that, Market Basket is great for stocking up on lots of things. Most things are cheaper her than at other grocery stores. It can get really busy at times and sometimes they have trouble keeping up with the demand. read more

Although I've been shopping at Market Basket for years and I am a big fan, I have realized that they use the same frying pan and oil to fry both meat and potato wedges. This is a problem for vegans, vegetarians, Muslims, Hindus, and others with food restrictions. Throughout the past few years, I have mentioned this problem to the cooks, managers and assistant managers on various occasions but I have not been taken seriously. I suggested that they use separate frying pans/oil and if not, display a sign informing customers of this practice. I have not seen a sign and last time I asked the cooks, they were still using the same oil/pan. So, customers beware, ask before you order from the MB kitchen/restaurant. read more

This Market Basket runs out of items on a regular basis. At first, after they had just opened, it was understandable but now it's become so common place it is annoying. Fortunately the basic items, milk, bread and eggs, only run low. But most of those basic items can be found in any Quick Mart or 7-11. Doesn't anyone keep an inventory so they can order when a product gets low? I always wonder when an item sells out why doesn't the manager increase his order for that item the next time he places an order. And I'm not talking about just "speciality items" here, if the store runs out of an item it will continually run out of that same item. The registers get backed up quickly and long lines form. However as you are waiting you can see one or two managers standing around in front of the windows. Do they even see what's going on? I always wonder why they don't do something about it. By the time someone opens another register there are 4 to 5 people waiting at each open register. This lack of employees was understandable too when they first opened but certainly by now they could have resolved the problem. The same disregard for the customer the old store showed when they moved 90% of their products over to the new store, but remained open, is still apparent. I ran into many neighbors and friends who were quite angry to see so many empty aisles days before the new store would open. Many people just walked out. Yes, the new store is larger but is run like it is the old smaller store. Product run-outs, lack of staff and the indifference by anyone working there that there are problems that need to be addressed continue month after month. We wait and wait but change does not come. On the weekend the store is very busy, the aisles are crowded, there are long lines at the register and your visit to this Market Basket will be a long one. Plus when it's busy the crowed aisles also have staff members stocking the shelves. People chuckle at how crazy doing that is. Supermarkets are busy on weekends that's a fact of life but other busy supermarkets are able to move large crowds in and out effectively why not this store? My favorite story about Market Basket is when they sold Ghirardelli Ground Chocolate in the baking product aisle. It is a speciality item and a great product to use in chocolate cakes, etc.. One WINTER I ran out and went to buy more but there wasn't any. I asked the manager when they would be getting more in. He responded that it was a SUMMER item and there was not much call for it during the WINTER. When the SUMMER came I remembered the manager saying it was a SUMMER item so I looked again. But there still was no ground chocolate on the shelves so I asked the manager once more. This time I was told it was a WINTER product used in Hot Chocolate, etc., and there wasn't much call for it during the SUMMER. You can laugh but you can't win with this new stores management style. Life is too short to let these things bother me. There are plenty of stores in Haverhill. But I will write this review to let someone at Market Basket know . Maybe one day changes will come, that is if anyone can figure out how to make the necessary changes. I hope they do. Thanks. read more

I have always been a fan of Market Basket, however, not this one. Be very careful with their prepackaged items. They have started putting out prepackaged deli items, and I recently grabbed a few as there was a very long line at the deli. However, when I got home they were slimy and I looked real closely at the date it was packed, (very small print and hidden at bottom of ticket), that had been packaged three days prior, I find that disgusting. Also,BEWARE of the prepackaged salads as so many of them h are brown and slimy on the bottom. And STAY AWAY from the prepackaged lobster, twice I bought them and the claws were completely full of water and no lobster meat, tending to indicate they were overcooked and instead of discarding them , they instead packaged and sold them, so WRONG! Lastly, the final straw was when I bought a premade sandwich for $5 yesterday and the bread was a hundred percent stale. I actually found mold on it, I know hold the belief, they use items that need to be thrown out and sell them as premade/prepackaged sales. read more

I've been to all the Market Baskets in Haverhill and this is my favorite by far. (It's also the one I frequent because it's closest to my house, so I may be slightly biased by that.) Pros are that it's clean, well stocked, and well organized. The yogurts are organized by flavor rather than being a mish-mash of raspberry, strawberry-banana and lime. The meat counter doesn't smell like meat. The fish counter doesn't smell like fish. You get the idea. They also start some of their Sunday specials on Saturday so if you shop on Saturday afternoon, you can hit some of the sales from both weeks. Many Market Basket brand products are as good as the name brands, and much cheaper. I've had questions a couple of times and the managers have been helpful. I've returned a handful of things for various reasons, and have never had a problem. They are also really good about calling extra cashiers to the check-out lines if there are people waiting. It's almost redundant to say this because it's a Market Basket, but their prices are almost always the best. They also accept coupons, but do not double. Cons are that if you like to shop early, the produce is not always out yet. I'm sure that if you needed something, one of the people working in the produce section would get it for you, but sometimes I don't feel like talking to anyone while I'm shopping. Some of the people in the deli section can be pretty surly too. Their produce selection is also a little limited compared to some of the more upscale stores, but I'm happy to make an extra trip elsewhere to save as much money as I do by doing my main shopping trip at MB. read more

I have ordered many cakes from the bakery department before but after the last time I wont be ordering cake from there again. I ordered a cake for a wedding shower and picked it up on June 6th and it was not what I had in mind. I called the next day and spoke with Krystal in the bakery department she was very nice and said she would look into it and get back to me but as of today I have heard nothing. read more

I love this Market basket. They have a better selection and more things I'm looking for then others. They have restaurants inside pizza, Chicken, ETC and it's very Good and Cheap.. People always nice, and they have a sit down area and the bus goes outside, so its easier for people like me. read more

It's very similar to any of the other Market Baskets if you've ever been to one. The one beef that I have with this Market Basket compared to every other one is that at some point last year, they started putting all the shopping baskets in the middle of the front of the store rather than where every other store keeps it (ie, at the entrances). It is quite inconvenient. I have no idea why they changed this, but it has been one thing that has bugged me about this store even before I step foot into it. The spot at the entrances where the baskets should go has become a completely vacant spot. Who decided this was a great idea for customers? They could learn a few things from Target, which spreads these shopping baskets throughout the store for convenience. Sometimes people just like to go shopping for a few items and don't always need a cart -- I'm one of those people and I'm sure I'm not the only one. read more
