Went into this Market Basket for a couple of items. As my items were being run up, BOTH the cashier and the bagger were on their phones. They were literally using only one hand to work. The woman in front of me had to stop the bagger from putting 2 of my items in her bag since he was so oblivious. Obviously the "no phones" sign on the white board by their check- out isn't getting the job done. read more

On several occasion, the isles had a strong pungent mouse urine smell. Sure enough when I went to get some bread, there were mouse droppings all over the bags. The candy isle also had droppings along the edge of the floor, as if someone just quickly swept them for a quick cleanup. I spoke to the assistant manager, who just shrugged his shoulders, as if he didn't care. I reported the store to the health department. Hopefully they followed through with an inspection, and ordered a deep cleaning and everything to be sterilized, as well as throw out anything that was contaminated, because anyone who comes in contact with infected droppings, urine can get Hantavirus, salmonella, let alone other diseases mice carry. Absolutely filthy place! Will never go back. read more

Nice grocery store that has all your needs covered, well unless you want spicy pepper relish for your Italian subs. The store is large with full service meat and deli counters. I'd imagine it gets crowded during peak hours in the evenings and in weekends. Decent weekly deals if you are a discount-driven shopper. This location may not be the closest to where I live, but it's the most convenient. I like shopping here! Entering the store it's clear that they are doing their best to follow all mandates & restrictions due to the pandemic. Its got to be very difficult with what I've seen with the behavior of certain customers who feel entitled not to have to follow the guidelines. Anyway, it's a large store with aisles that are clearly marked with arrows etc. & MOST people go with the flow. The departments are usually stocked quite well - although I would like to see more vegetarian options. It seems that the frozen food section stays about the same ... nothing new & inviting. The produce department is so-so probably depending on deliveries. Most of the time I'm able to get what I need. I don't buy meat or deli food. But again- well stocked. The bakery right now is off limits to me. But past visits I've bought some good items. When checking out, each associate has been friendly and accommodating They actually appear to enjoy their jobs! This makes for an easy, comfortable experience. read more

This market used to be pretty decent. And it's local so it's convenient for me. But the last time I was there, the (black) cashier called me "white boy" and I asked "Did you just call me 'white boy?'' and she said "Yes." I think she got fired (the manager overheard her), but I haven't been back. read more

I been going to Market basket for over 30 years now, and I always respect Everyone there. I am a very friendly person, I talk with everyone there and they respond well with me. Today I went there to grab a couple scratch tickets, and the machine was not working. So I told the customer service about. This younger girl came out, and closed that door. As she walking way, she was making faces rolling her eyes, I saw thru the glass like we see in a mirror. I called her and told her that wasn't cool, and I didn't cause the ticket machine from not working. She denied making faces. The other customer service saw her. Just want to say no need for that. If you don't like your job leave. She was tall with glasses a bigger girl. read more

Always a great experience coming here, although I do go to the one over by planet fitness because of their bakery and cafe/ restaurant sort of place. Where they make pizza and such with their own products ... wonderful prices for quality food! Market basket is always my number one grocery. read more

I just got in town for work and needed to find groceries to stock up on. When I got there I had about a 3 minute wait to get in due to the social distancing guild lines. Particularly I came to the grocery store to find vegetarian options. Their meatless section wasn't very big but did have plenty of options. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits as well. Friendly staff with plenty of lanes open. Overall good experience and will return when I need more groceries. read more

The store on Water Street does have cheap prices like all the other stores do. That said I worked at this store about thirty-six years ago when I was in high school. In that time the store was able to expand it's produce department by taking up some of the space when Ames closed. Other than that there have been no improvements or updates since I worked there in the early 1980s. Everything is outdated. Where there's no bakery the store gets it's cakes and what not from other stores. Often they're stale. I realize that because of the lack of space expanding the store could be a challenge. One would think that the owners of the store would come up with a plan of sorts to try and expand the store and update it. It's like the store is stuck in a time warp. read more

I love this grocery store! The cheapest place I've ever shopped for groceries. I even like the Market Basket labeled foods. I buy everything from the store brand coffee, cereal, chips, cheese etc. The meats, veggies and fruit are very fresh. I highly recommend shopping here if you want to save money on groceries. read more

Hardly ever shop at this store thankfully. But at near bank so went in for a few items, as I was leaving near ice cream isle saw a cart filled with ice cream in front of freezer but no clerk in site. Well reached into cart and felt containers soft, someone went on break and left in middle of placing on shelfs for the plastic cover on some. I than found a manager and showed him. His response was well there's quite a bit of firmness to containers, he was right they were only going soft, not entirely. My reply was, so that's how you operate here, and walked away to get in checkout line. He must have thought of what I said for next 5 minutes + heard him on store intercom going thru 3 names or more to find someone to stack the melted product in freezer, or did they throw away, what do you think??? read more

My favorite of the three Haverhill Market Baskets. It's an average grocery store - with a really good produce department. I can find watercress for soup when the N. Andover Butcher Boy, Crosby's, and Stop and Shop have let me down. The veggies are varied and fresh. The MB over by Bldg. 19 has gotten much better, but is still such a white bread and mayonnaise store-brand store. read more

This location has improved significantly. They seem to have stepped up their game once West Gate's Market Basket got a face lift. They have more lines open. The produce department has improved dramatically; I've been finding fresher produce here than at West Gate. read more

So this Market Basket is my go to store! No where else can I find better deals for being a pretty cheap college students. The people here seem to all have yearS of experience, despite how young they are. Must mean they take pretty good care of their employees! The shelves are always stocked, and I appreciate their attempt at keeping up with the holidays. They already have egg nog and that's basically what I've been craving for the past 11 months. The only sad thing I've noticed is since the store is a bit smaller than the other one in Haverhill, the amount of variety they have for certain products is cut short. Yogurt especially is one of those examples! I of course don't hold this sole opinion, but it's just something that many of us have noticed when shopping. The case for drinks is different though! The variety of beverages is incredible. I wish they had space for bakery, sushi, and fresh food set up like the other Haverhill MB. It would incredible to have near the colleges over here! My wife and I have been shopping in Market Basket for yearsand loving their prices, mostly in the Westgate area. I took every thing for granted until today. I was making some sausages therefore I had to weigh the meat and ingredients accurately what I found is the meat I bought at Market Basket (Westgate) included the weight of the packaging along with the meat. Being ripped off or what? Paying up to $8+ per pound for packaging is cheating and perhaps against the law. My packaging weighed 0.1 lbs, so that was $ 0.80 for the package and 0.1 lbs less meat. Will now be weighing all my meat, etc. read more

Went to this market basket the other day for food. I had an issue with something and the manager came over to deal with my problem. Her name was Rhian. What a beautiful name and person she was. Handled the problem with ease. I feel like I'm at home there now. read more
