I love this auto shop!!! They are always friendly and listen to your concerns. As a female I wonder if I will be taken advantage of for lack of knowledge, that is NOT the case with this shop! I was traveling through when my RV broke down, I was towed to 2 other locations before Mark's, they are wonderful people and a great business. They stayed late so we could get our Motorhome dropped off, then Cory drove us to a local Hotel, to stay the night. The started on our MH the next morning, found out the problem and stayed in touch with us. We stayed 2 days at the hotel waiting for parts, then we were on our way. The teams at Mark's are super, Mark and Cory were so nice to us, if you want a business who cares, is professional, and gets the job done right, then this shop is your best bet. I stopped by Marks to get an estimate on my car for a valve replacement. When I arrived, I was greeted promptly, and was able to talk to the technician about my issue immediately. The tech was very nice, friendly, honest, and gave me grey advice for what to do with my car. Being a young single female, I am very vulnerable at auto shops. He did not appear to be cheating me out of anything and recommended I get my car fixed at my dealership because it would be the same price as his price, and that way the dealership would be held accountable since they made the diagnosis. I would go back anytime! Very friendly, helpful, and the waiting room was more spacious than most auto repair places. It even smelled nice! (Which is rare) read more

Well I have been going to Marks since the mid 1990's when they had a little shop on West Street. They have always been fair and Marks has always been able to finish the job when they say they will. I have had several clutches repaired/replaced at Mark's down through the years. On these occasions, I drop the car off before Mark opens, and they have called me by 2:00 or 2:30, with the clutch replaced, and the car ready to go. They have also done other repairs on vehicles with great service, Mark and his guys are ALWAYS honest dependable and very professional. I saw all the good reviews, so I thought this place would be great! The front desk lady was very nice and professional. My first flag should have been when she said it would cost between 70-90 bucks to simply diagnosis my car. Do you know what that means? Take a electronic device and plug it into my car. She then said that the money for the diagnostic test would come off of any work we had done to the car. So I thought Hey, worse comes to worst, I could get an oil change from them and a tune up and pay a bit more!. Dropped off the car at 3pm. They said there was one other car in front of us but that shouldn't take long and they would give us a call when they finished the diagnosis, By 5pm, I got worried and called the company, voicemail, they were closed! I Have to work tomorrow! What do you mean you are closed?!?! To make matters worse, when they did get around to calling me at my work the next day at around 10am, they said that the car had misfired once, not doing it anymore, and that I needed now spark plugs, wires, and coils. Guess how much that was going to cost...475 F$%#^ing dollars! If you know ANYTHING about cars, you know those parts cost MAYBE $180. FOR GOOD ONES! So I said pass, but could I get a tune up (which btw includes replacing the spark plugs) and an oil change? She kindly said sure, but that was not going to use any of the $90 bucks since it is outside of what they diagnosed. My point is. They rip you off, and hide it behind a nice receptionist. Don't go to this place. Unless you are like the other reviewers who are out of town and know nothing about cars. They will get the job done, but they will also take all your money. We had a breakdown just north of Bakersfield in our RV and the tow truck driver recommended Mark's rather than being towed to a dealership on a Sunday night. Mark's turned out to be a great choice. They did a quick diagnosis first thing Monday morning, got the part we needed and did the repair. We were back on the road by noon. Amazing! They know their stuff, are fairly priced, friendly and service oriented. They do a lot of government agency cars so we had confidence going in. Highly recommend Mark's Automotive. read more

Mark's automotive is fantastic. We were towing our travel trailer from San Diego to Sequoia National Park on a Thursday afternoon (8/11/16) when our transmission blew in our Ford F-150. The local Ford Dealership told us it would be a few days before they would even look at my truck to tell me what was wrong with it (not impressed). Luckily, I called Korie at Mike's Automotive. Not only did she squeeze us in to assess the problem with the truck; she also coordinated with a local transmission shop to have my truck back on the road the very next day (transmission needed to be rebuilt). On top of that, Mark's Automotive didn't charge me for assessing the problem in the middle of a busy day for them. I don't live in Bakersfield but if I did, this would be the only place I would go to get work done. Korie even called us the following week to see how the truck was running. read more

Had my vehicle in for a check engine light, which they repaired. But they also said, I needed a new fan clutch, which I decided to have them go ahead and do the repairs. Few months later, I sold my vehicle to a friend's son, whom is a mechanic. I asked, if everything was running right, he said that it needed a new fan clutch. Turns out Mark's never did the repairs. They kept my vehicle for a few extra hours to play it off and charged me. Also, I used to work for a major company that sends all of our company vehicles there for repairs. They ended up pulling out of business with Mark's for scam and fired a co-conspirator. Do not trust this place. read more
