    Western skillet

A Coney Island is a Coney Island. It's nothing special and you're just there for the food and to be in/out. This particular location felt very outdated though. I got western skillet and a small French toast to share with my friends. It satisfied the craving but it wasn't anything special. I also got a cup of hot coffee because I needed caffeine. They kept refilling my coffee but it would have ruined the ratio of the creamer and sugar I already had in my cup so I had to decline multiple times.

Stopped in early on a Thursday. Located in a strip mall off of busy Plymouth and the freeway. Clean and bright, everything is in good repair. When the food came I saw there was little butter on the toast, and asked for some butter packets, and the waitress got a disgusted face on. She also did not come back to ask if I wanted a refill of the very small sized soda pop until she cleared the dishes and dropped off the bill. So poor service. Worse was the food taste. It is a Coney diner, so it is not a Michelin star or anything, and is comfort food. This went much further, it was largely tasteless. I don't know if they buy the cheapest from sysco, or what. There were a lot of older people as customers, talking loudly and all that, and paying very slowly in cash and counting their change. So if that is not your thing, bear that in mind.

One word describes this experience: DELICIOUS!!! It's not often at all I can say a restaurant gets the "over medium eggs" and crisp bacon right. You'd think it's not that hard to do, but all too often the eggs are either far undercooked or hard as hockey pucks. These...perfectly cooked. Well worth the stop, I'll definitely be going again!!

Mini Greek Salad No Beets Ranch Dressing

Stopped in for Lunch on our way through Ann Arbor. We used to live here and like stopping in AA when we are back in Michigan. I have eaten here twice. Both times were delicious. You can tell there are so many regulars here. The staff makes everyone feel welcome. I miss my Coney Island restaurants in Texas. I can get Greek food, hubby can get breakfast. I ordered the chicken Philly sub, subbed out the green peppers for mushrooms. Added yellow pickled peppers and tziki sauce. It was so good! My side was fries and a mini Greek salad. They had amazing ranch dressing. That is a great statement for a ranch dressing snob. It's obviously made in house. Hubby had the pancake and eggs breakfast with sausage links. He really like his too. On the previous visit I brought my aunt with me and she ordered breakfast too and loved it. We will definitely be back!

Western Omelette, hashbrowns inside and outside

We went here today and I got the Western Omelette (I asked for hash browns inside and outside) with wheat toast. It was super good!! I also loved their coffee! The service was good and fast. My one complaint was my menu was very dirty. It even prompted me to use hand sanitizer before eating after I looked through it. It's possible the person at the table before us got it dirty so it could be a fluke but if the restaurant sees this, this might be a good reminder to make sure you wipe down your menus each day.

My first meal in Ann Arbor after a ridiculously long day of traveling. You'd think I don't have Gavin w/ me and it was 7:30PM so I could have driven anywhere to enjoy dinner but I was tired and wanted something close by. And since I spent the entire day traveling, I wanted to hurry back to the hotel to catch up. One thing I do know. OK. Two things I do know. You must order the Gyro Sandwich and you must order the Coney Island Special. Their service is genuine. I felt right at home. I ordered a lot because I did not eat all day and I know the one thing that would turn my day around would be: good food. Come here if you want fast service, good food, a variety to choose from. The gyro was WONDERFUL and the Coney Island looked ordinary but tasted extraordinary. Our campus is over there and though I felt ill when I was over there for training, I cannot wait for my company to send me back so I can enjoy something different from here.

Loved this little gem! Diner feels with great food. We and for lunch and got a club, turkey sandwich, and had to try the chili Mac. Loved my club! Great service. Will be coming back.

I love diners like this. What a fun little place. We stopped here on a Saturday morning, it was in a rather quiet plaza but inside there was a crowd, but we still found seats right away. The ladies working there all seemed sweet and they were attentive despite being so busy. There was a big group of fire fighters. I don't live in this area. It I could tell this is local's favorite. The menu had everything from breakfast to dinner, for every hunger level you may be at !

    Breakfast

It came with toast, hash browns, sausage, two eggs, and jelly. It was very tasty and the price was right!

Three meat breakfast special you can't beat the price.

Food was quick and cheap. Unfortunately it was just ok. Went for breakfast, probably won't be back.

It's the same crew from years ago with a fresh look. If you are looking for some quick, clean coney experience this is the place to be.

We were visiting Ann Arbor and Frank's is right of campus. Breakfast is their game and they've got it down. Many reviews raved about the French toast so we both got it. Meh, it was ok. It has a cinnamon sugar on it but the type of bread is not something we recognized. Scrambled eggs and bacon were great. Cofee could have been better but really fit in with what you'd expect at a diner. Recommend if you are looking for a fulfilling breakfast that won't break the bank.

Frank's is old school. They have been around forever, essentially. (I grew up just past north…read morecampus, circa 1980s, when it was half cornfields still, and I attended University of Michigan for a professional degree.) They are the quintessential diner in the perfect college town. I would estimate I've eaten there ten times since, say, 1988. The decor exudes the Go Blue spirit. They also have retro knick knacks: a photo of the Three Stooges in cap and gown, saying "Now what?," a vintage Mountain Dew advertising sign, a Scooby Doo mystery van toy model, etc. But if I gave been there for anything other than breakfast, I have forgotten that. So I associate the place with traditional American fare prepared on a griddle, before you start the workday (or classes). This weekend, my wife and I are passing through town. Last night, she said, where should we eat in the morning. I gave her a few choices. She said, oh, Frank's of course. We had a stranger take a photo of us outside, for old time's sake. I had corned beef hash, two eggs, hash browns, and toast. My wife had pancakes. Both our dishes were large enough for us to request boxes and a bag. We are set for tomorrow. The corned beef was how I like it: it is not some fancy homemade preparation, but the type out of a can, fried up (I would bet it is in fact homemade, but in the style of out of a can, which is even better). The pancakes are exactly as you would imagine if you grew up in the States and have ever eaten at this type of establishment. We noticed they have specialty versions, such as with peanut butter. The patrons are a mix. One table was blue collar rank and file, talking about their union and ensuring folks don't steal their jobs. Another table was four college guys, and of the different backgrounds you would hope (I would anyway) come together as equals on a campus, including white, black, and Asian American. The server was friendly, someone who either loves their job or does such a good job presenting that attitude you want to leave a good tip; the chef also was outgoing. I hope Frank's continues to be around another 40 years. It belongs to a business type that is disappearing everywhere else.
