A+ experience! This place is super cute and delicious. I love that this place is in an old, historic building. It has so much charm inside and out. Now the setup is that you walk up to the counter to order then they direct you to a table (inside or out, your preference) and bring you what you've ordered. You can also order to go. The food was super quick and delicious. We ordered the huevos rancheros with chorizo and ham & egg breakfast sandwich. Both were exceptionally well seasoned with lots of flavor. Eggs were perfectly runny for the rancheros and folded egg omelet was not dry on the sandwich. Crispy tortillas on the rancheros and house made chorizo was flavorful and not greasy. I'd say that this dish was not very spicy at all, I had to add cholula hot sauce which was conveniently on the table already. They have a bathroom in the basement, which you have to get through the kitchen. So, not accessible for all but it does have a diaper changing station available for the littles. Lots of seating choices: communal table, small tables, and window counter height seating plus outside tables in the back. Overall, will be back again with the kids since there were lots of families with smaller kids here so very family friendly. read more

Such a cute place in the middle of a quaint neighborhood! We came on a cloudy and drizzly day and it was still nice to eat outside. (Only outside is stroller friendly. Inside has about 4 stairs). We ordered the Corned Beef Hash, Breakfast Burrito, and Honey Cinnamon latte. We wanted to order more but it would be too much so instead we will return! The staff are very friendly and nice. The outside has umbrellas so it's perfect for rainy and sunny weather. The corned beef hash was delicious! It had some crispyness and great flavor! The breakfast burrito was also delicious and not too big but very filling! The honey cinnamon latte was very tasty too. Nothing disappointed! Based on 4 visits. This is a nice little place a little to the southwest of downtown Ann Arbor in a neighborhood, adding an immense amount of charm. You order at the counter then they seat you. The atmosphere is very cozy, rustic and cool. You can imagine being in a commercial almost. Service was friendly all visits. Food selections are brunch focused with breakfast favorites like traditional breakfast, breakfast burrito, Pancakes, and more. There are some sandwiches as well. Food quality was good for most items we had over the visits with just a few average (not bad but not great). They stop by for coffee refills and whatever you need. Definitely worth a try! They will not seat you without all members of your party being present but that makes sense given how small the spot it and they keep a close eye on people leaving. I came across a Facebook post about this breakfast/biscuit gem in Ann Arbor as I was waiting for my hubby to wake up after spending the night in AA. He was agreeable to try a new place even when I told him it was in a residential area and we might have to park at the school across the street. I didn't know about the line. It was outside the door when we got there. We were surprised when we got inside that it snaked around the tables. I needed coffee. I wish I could have ordered coffee while we waited, hence the not perfect rating. The line and length of time I had to wait for caffeine not withstanding, this is the best breakfast we have had in a long time! The entire experience was charming. The servers were very friendly, patient, and good with dealing with moving people around in tight quarters/turning over tables. The antique decor is fun to look at while waiting in line. The honey cinnamon latte was divine. The blueberry pancakes with lemon curd was a blue & yellow celebration of flavors made complete with a side of bacon. The biscuits were everything they said they were. Go ahead and order that blueberry muffin and whatever else looks good in the bakery case & a bag of biscuits with butter & homemade jam (we got a mix of blueberry & pear) for later. On my first morning of a 3 day visit to A2 I asked a local for a new rave-able breakfast spot and they mentioned 2 places. We stopped at the first and it was mostly coffee, muffins, and scones (it looked terrific but we wanted hot/entrees). Jefferson Market was the 2nd recommendation. To cut to the ending, I never go to the same place twice on a short stay but on the last morning, I brought my old college mates here (and they raved as well). I'm a corned beef and hash snob so when I saw it on their menu, it was a no brainer. I also ordered a chai scone (getting the 2nd to last one right before they sold out a few minutes later). They bake their scones fresh daily, and are relatively large with the (mandatory) crunch on the outside and modestly moist innards. The chai flavor was strong, which is to say, awesome. I somehow saved half for the plane which was uplifting when my flight experienced a short delay. Suffice to say, the corned beef/hash is a-maize-ing. It is completely shredded and thoroughly blended with the hash. The hash is unusual in that it is probably 70% mashed and the rest small bits of potato. Genius, frankly, because it results in a large pancake-like mass of crispy (outside) hash (or mash?) with a good helping of shredded corned beef mixed within. Both times (Fri morning and Sun morning) I found myself eating it so fast I nearly burned my tongue. Of course, it comes with two eggs any style (hello, over-medium) and those were done perfectly each time. The venue is a sheer delight, with two large bay windows with 4 stools (where we were fortunate enough to sit on both visits) and decor that is equal parts antiques and industrial. Parking can be tricky but it's free and we always managed a legal spot (both visits were around 9/9:30 a.m.). The restaurant is modest in size and super busy, with a short line at all times, despite being almost 2 miles from campus. Staff is gracious but way too occupied for banter. The location lends itself to extra charm too, as half the patrons are young families simply walking up from the neighborhood, often with a stroller and dog (read: no frat/sorority clientele ;) There is additional seating outside, behind the restaurant. Note: the restaurant strongly enforces the (well posted) no-seating-until-AFTER-ordering policy. At first I felt annoyed because I wanted to grab a table the second I walked in (fearing the loss of any table later). But after two visits, I see the rationale and became a proponent. My lone disappointment? is that it will be a year or two before I can get another tasting of their unique corned beef "mash." Go Blue! read more

I love this cozy little diner hidden away on the Old West Side. I live about a two minute walk away and I order carry out regularly. I have eaten in the back garden which is very nice and secluded feeling. Eating in can be hit or miss. It's gets crowded but that's a good thing. The owners are local and very friendly and warm. They were especially kind to me when my husband was very ill a couple years ago. I love the biscuits and gravy, sweet potato wrap and the cauliflower and hummus wrap. With the bustling kitchen staff preparing entrees and the nostalgic decor lining the walls, the place could have fit right at home in Gilmore Girls or any Hallmark movie. Service: Everyone from the host to the server were very friendly and fast! Food: Wow, hands down one of the best brunch spots not just in Ann Arbor but all of Detroit. I tried the simple breakfast, the ham and egg breakfast sandwich, cafe miel latte, chai latte, and a delicious sticky-toffee pudding like dessert from the glass display. The breakfast was simple yet elevated in every way. The scrambled eggs were golden yellow, moist, and cooked right to the edge of runny which I don't mind one bit, the home fry-style potatoes were tasty with a touch of crispiness, and the sausage patty was well seasoned and springy. The real star of the show was that beautifully flakey, decadent biscuit accompanied by the jam and whipped butter. I could eat 10 of those for sure. Something I had tried previously, the ham and cheese egg sandwich was just as good as I remembered with its delicate brioche bun, savory mushroom spread, and velvety egg bundled up like a blanket. It's what every egg sammich should aspire to be. The dessert and drinks were great and had that oomph of spice really showing their expertise on display. Jefferson Market is one of my favorite places to get a breakfast burrito! They're so savory and they're massive - they'd be good for two meals! I tried their baked goods too and was really blown away - you can tell they're made from scratch. They're dining room is small so it isn't a great place to go for an extended hangout session - once you're done eating, you need to make room for everyone else in the usually full but steadily moving line. They have outdoor seating in nice weather. It's counter service to order. Staff are always helpful and I love being able to call ahead and order my burrito for pick up. The breakfast burrito ($10.5 - Grilled flour tortilla filled with scrambled Grazing Fields eggs, jack cheese, black beans with onions and peppers, salsa verde, crema, pickled onions & cilantro) is the best you'll have in town! It's a behemoth of a burrito and it'll definitely fill you up! I also had the huevos rancheros ($12.75 - crispy corn tortillas, black beans, ranchero sauce, sunny-side up eggs & avocado) which was good BUT I loved the breakfast burrito so much that it was hard to compete. For lunch, I DREAM of their za'atar fries. It's not because of the seasoning or the side of masala ketchup but rather just how perfect these french fries are. You can tell they're fresh, hand cut. Handful of menu items for breakfast and lunch respectively, which I just assume are their "tried and trues". Walked in around 8:15am on a Friday and placed an order to go, and it was less than a 10min wait. While I was there, others walked in to pick up orders that were either called in or done online prior. Seems like that's the move! I can imagine wait times would be longer during busier hours. Ok the food. We got the breakfast burrito, add chorizo and potato, as well as a corned beef hash with scrambled egg, and split both. Loved the corned beef hash! The corned beef was plentiful, with great flavor. Their scrambled eggs were soft and buttery. The burrito was good, but I feel like might sometimes be better? It includes ingredients like salsa verde, pickled onions, and cilantro, but they didn't really come through in my half at least. Recently ate here on an early-ish Sunday morning, probably arriving around 9:30 a.m. The food and coffee were good, if perhaps a bit on the expensive end. Unfortunately, the service was downright rude and the experience turned out to be more of a hassle than anything. Like a previous reviewer stated, I'm not much of a review person. In fact, this is my first one in six years. But some experiences are worth coming out of retirement. First, my friend and I were sat at a table that was very wobbly. Very wobbly. And sure, no big deal, so when the couple next to us got up a minute or so later, we just shifted over to their table. This place is very jam-packed, and the other table was roughly 1 foot away, so I figured we'd snag it, let the server know when they came around why we moved, and we'd be great. They were not, however, great. We were delivered a sigh-filled scolding on how we should not do something like that without asking. Such naughty, naughty children! Then, they have this rule that you can only get one refill of coffee. That's perfectly fine with me, but maybe five minutes after they refilled our cups, the same very perturbed server informed us that they "needed this table" because a line was forming from other customers. We had maybe been there for 30-40 minutes? We weren't "lingering" at all. We got our food, we ate it, and we were finishing our coffee. Not quick enough, I guess. I was really surprised that a restaurant takes this approach to service, but I suppose that's why you pay (and tip!) when you order your food. There are too many other great spots around town to deal with this silliness. If you like wobbly tables and ornery waitstaff with your eggs and bacon, Jefferson Market is your spot! read more

My favorite breakfast spot in AA! It's such a cute neighborhood spot. The space itself is small and can get quite busy. You can see them cooking which adds to the charm of the place. You order at the counter and then they seat you and bring out your food. I loved everything we tried. Don't try to enter the building - I set off a mild panic by opening the front door, and was quickly chased down to the bottom of the steps by a mask-wearing server. Walk-up customers must wait on the sidewalk to the left of the entrance to order, with people waiting to pick up their order wait on the sidewalk to the right. A server will come out to take your order, several steps away, and you pay by inserting your card at a Square reader sitting on a small table. Your food, in a brown paper bag, will be deposited on another outdoor table to pick up. Yes, you must wear a mask if you choose to eat on their outdoor patio. Was Jefferson Street worth the hassle? I pondered this question as I watched a steady stream of "in the know" customers, all of whom had ordered ahead, picking up their breakfast orders. When I asked a guy picking up if the breakfast burritos were any good, I got an orgasmic "oh yeahhh, dude." And then my egg and cheese biscuit was delivered and I understood. It was like a breakfast cloud - a light and fluffy cheese omelette surrounded by an equally fluffy fresh-baked savory biscuit. I'll be back and will call ahead next time. read more

Our first time in, the line was so long that we had to leave before we could even order. I've thought about going back for months and was so pleased that when we did, the wait was very reasonable. (Many students weren't back from break yet!) I got the Roasted Beet & Sweet Potato Pita and was slightly disappointed that it wasn't more flavorful. My husband's breakfast burrito, however, was absolutely divine! (Add the housemade chorizo and potatoes if those are your thing!) We also grabbed a few cookies for later and they were very tasty as well.
