They were the only local company (out of the 6 I contacted) that charged a fee for having someone come out, and I was not warned about this charge in advance. I was looking to get a water softener installed. I called multiple companies and each said they would need to inspect the situation before providing a quote. Based on those prior interactions, I expected the on-site bid to be free, which is why the service fee from this company caught me off guard. It was first mentioned when the technician was leaving. I live in Albuquerque and had already worked with several companies before them, so this felt outside the local norm. The technician was professional and knowledgeable, and the quote itself was on par with the more expensive options I received. They also offered multiple possible solutions, which I appreciated. Because of the surprise charge and the higher overall cost, I chose a different company. This review is only about the bidding process and communication around fees, not the quality of their technical work. After I left my original review, the company called and offered to refund the service fee, which I appreciate. I still think customers should be clearly informed about any charges both when the visit is scheduled and again when the technician arrives. This might sound like a high bar, but for a high-cost project, their competitors seem to handle this more transparently and free; Based on my interaction with their staff, I assume they are very capable. He also bent the float down so much that the valve would not open to let in more water. When I called about it, they said the boss leaves at 4PM, so I asked to talk to him that coming Friday. they said that he would. The bad part was that the problem was a loose fan door which I had looked at but hadn't closed as tightly as possible. When the fan had restarted the night before it must have loosened the door. Doesn't matter, the tech Daniel, but not the THE Daniel came fast and fixed the problem and didn't charge more than the dispatch fee. They were backed up two weeks for a new install and Carter made a call to the owner Chris and they were able to get us in right away. It turned out that my house shared a connection which was blocked to the city sewer. I and my neighbors were being forced to consider temporarily moving to a motel. A1 plumbing sent out plumbing tech Ernest, to attempt a clean out and troubleshoot. He was unable to do the clean out due to the severe obstruction and handed the job over the to the underground technical construction crew of John and Joe. They arrived with a backhoe and dug down to where the main pipe connected to the main sewer. All the pipes down there were severely corroded and plugged solid with roots. The only way to fix it was to dig it up, remove the roots (which had the density of a tree themselves) and change the style of piping so that future cleaning was feasible and more efficient. They accomplished this professionally and in time so that none of us had to leave our homes. I can't praise the whole team enough. In my humble opinion they are the best in Albuquerque for professionalism and Value.
