Food - 5 Service - 4 Value - 5 I wish we had found this place earlier on our recent trip to Whitefish and Glacier National Park. We did not discover this place until pretty much our last day. This would have been a great place for us to stock up at the beginning of our trip with fruit and veggies and could have saved us a lot of money that we spent instead on eating out (albeit at some good restaurants). The hot sandwiches they make daily are particularly a great value -- we had the banh mi at one of the local's suggestion. If we had to do it over again, instead of getting 2 banh mi's, we might have gotten one banh mi and one cheesesteak and just each eaten half of each one to get more variety. read more

The Pig & Olive is so focused on catering. Now they only make one hot sandwich a day. It's a mystery sandwich. It's posted nowhere. There's no way to know what it is because even the person taking your order has to ask. But it's usually delicious. read more

Food choices were good but the service was terrible. The cashier literally at my 7-year-old son. He was trying to help put our items on the conveyor belt, and the guy was mad because the items weren't placed right in front of him. No excuse to yell at a kid. So my crew and I worked until noon on the mountain Monday 5/23/22. Stopped at Markus to grab lunch as it's always been quick and predictable. We walked in at approximately 12:10 and saw approximately 5-6 customers on there phones near the deli so was assuming they had ordered which upon asking a young women they had and I asked if this is where you order and she said yes. Saw two girls behind the counter making the orders of the 5-6 customers. We saw one employee making a large bowl of salad and another employee doing I'm not sure what. Within 4-6 minutes they called 3 names and two more to go.. NOT once we're we told we will be right with you or? We witnessed a 35-40 yr old woman come in after we had been standing there for approximately 10 minutes and go down by the deli case and engage in conversation for 3-4 minutes with the one employee behind the counter whom I never saw do much of anything. He eventually took her order, walked by us, pinned it in front of the girls making the two other orders, walked back in front of us and didnt even say hi, be right with yah... nothing. I've lived in the Flathead longer than the employees behind the counter have been on this planet. They treated me and my crew like tourist.. Markus Foods can rot in hell. Nice store ,great wine selection,and a deli with delicious sandwiches.However not the place to buy regular items like Milk,OJ,and eggs.definitely tourist prices like double what you might pay down the street at a market like Super One,or Safeway. read more

Oh my gosh this is a fabulous little specialty market. When you walk in the aroma of something delicious cooking wafts your way and you immediately want to know where it's coming from. But unfortunately we were on a mission to buy beer and waters so we didn't really wander the aisles. But it definitely had all kinds of great stuff, produce, breads, snacks and the beer and wine selection is fabulous. If you are getting ready to go out on the lake, bike ride or hiking this is a perfect place to stop and pick up some snacks and beverages. When time permits we'll be back. read more

This local grocery store has had a bit of a facelift, since the last time we visited. We bought several items from their Pig and Olive Delicatessen, yesterday. They have a wonderful (fresh) selection of produce. I recommended checking this place out, especially if you are just a visitor in the Whitefish/Glacier National Park area. read more

You're typical small town grocery, with one exception. They have an amazing wine selection! I mean a seriously good selection. Not just your normal grocery store selection either. They've got great Washington wines and Oregon wines, and a lot of things you'd never expect. Also a wide variety of beers to choose from, right down to your microbrew 32 ouncers! They've also got a deli area and some pre-made sandwiches if you just need to feed the beast. As far as traditional groceries go, it doesn't have the selection of Super 1 or Safeway across town, but chances are you'll be able to find something you need. read more

Be aware. I understand this is a small town store and I guess that allows them to sell their items at a higher price. I was blown away that they were going to sell me an iceberg lettuce for $5.62.... we all know it's probably one of the cheapest vegetables out there. It's only $1.20 at Safeway. Sorry, my money isn't burning a hole in my pocket that bad. read more

Markus Foods has a great wine selection to choose from don't let the esthetic of the store deter you from checking it out.

Markus Foods is located downtown on the way out towards the ski hill, and since every other grocer is on the other side of town, they mark up everything here. Though I do go here, it is only for convenience to buy one or two things. They do have an amazing highend wine selection, but again, its very expensive for the common folk. So unless you have more money than you can spend, I would run over to Safeway or Super1 for your grocery shopping. read more
