About 8 items didn't ring up correct so I asked self checkout guy for help. Who then proceeded to say he had "better shit to do than this."

Safeway had everything we needed for our weeklong trip! It was pretty clean and the staff were all very kind which my friends and I appreciated. However, there were only two people working the check out at 8pm on a Saturday, which you can probably imagine how long it took to check out anyone with a full cart of items. The last few times I have been here were such a mess. Tons of products in the aisles leaving no room for people to shop. Today they were out of two of the things I specifically came in for that I can't get at Costco. Disappointing-especially when I have to drag two kids in with me. Also, the kids car cart was absolutely filthy. I was going to wipe it down but it was beyond help. My daughter was in tears. read more

Ordered a birthday cake online to have picked up when I came into town. The cake was sitting on the counter, waiting for me to arrive, but was missing all of the decorations on the cake that I had ordered online and was very basic and simple despite having requested a lot of Garnishments. The bakery took the cake back and added some flowers and confetti to where it looked nice when I got the cake to the party and began to serve our guests. We discovered that the inside of the cake was not what we had ordered and not in the favorite flavor of the birthday girl as requested. The cake tasted good, but given that they could not get the decorations or the type of cake correct, I cannot recommend this bakery. read more

This grocery store is close to our hotel and a perfect place to grab a quick meal if you don't want to go out to dinner. It's a large, clean store with everything you need and an extra bonus, a Starbucks at the south end of the store. read more

Floral department was fantastic and prices as well. They did my wedding flowers and I would not have been more pleased.

I have yet to see a positive interaction with the deli counter! Or a friendly face at that! Once again today I asked for very thick sliced roasted turkey breast. The lady slid a bag across counter full of thin sliced meat. I'll keep driving into Kalispell smith's for most of my deli items. They are always friendly and slice perfectly. Also the boar's head is almost $3 cheaper. Too bad they don't carry the roasted turkey breast! Not impressed with the Safeway attitude and customer service in the deli. read more

We stopped here a few time while staying at the Resort on the hill. I was happy that they had Beyond Meat burgers, and lots of options for dinner..for our main purpose there was to visit Glacier National Park. It has convenient on the way back to stop there, and having a bathroom there right in front was also very convenient. read more

The workers all seem absolutely miserable being there. No one was nice or greeted or thanked us. The greeter was blocking the entrance talking with who I think was an off the clock employer. It's no wonder no one spends much time here, it's depressing and without the club membership the prices are ridiculously expensive. read more

This review is in regards to their Pharmacy. I went online to schedule our first shingle shots for my husband and I. After making the appointments, I called the Pharmacy to make sure that they were contracted with our insurance companies to administer the shots, and if it would cost us. I left a message and no one ever returned my call. We went in this morning to our appointment to receive our shots only to find out that our insurance companies are NOT contracted with them. Total waste of our time, and to think, it could have all been resolved if someone had bothered to return my phone call. First time using the "drive up and go" service was anything other than a success. The app required that you pick a specific time on the hour to pick up your order so making an order and picking it up on the same day are virtually impossible. I only realized this after I finally got all my items picked out and added to my cart, so I caved and placed the order for a 10 am pick up. Now, I had an appointment prior to this time so I figured it would time out well. As luck would have it, I got there early at about 9:30. No biggie right? I pulled into one of the pick up spots (note that all of them were empty at that time) and called to let the store know I was here and knew I was early. The person on the other end gruffly told me that my order wasn't ready and that I'd be alerted when it was my turn. I hung up and chose to wait in the parking space, I was early after all, so I figured a little wait wasn't outlandish. During my wait only one other car came to the "park and go" area for their order. After about 15 minutes I get an email that my order is ready and that I should call the store to let them know I'm there. So again, I call the store and tell them I'm there for my order. The person on the other end is this time very irritated with me and says he'll need to call me back with no explanation as to why or when. He hangs up and I continue to wait. After about another 10 minutes no one calls, but a man comes out carrying one bag of groceries. He hands them to me and complains about how busy they've been with carry out orders. Note: Only one car has been here for my whole wait; at this point 30 minutes in length. Okay, I decide to skate by that, maybe he's stressing, that's understandable right? So I ask him where the rest of my order is and he sighs and grumbles some more as he says he'll go back in to check on it. The minimum amount for a carry out order is around $35, the bag he had brought out contained 1 onion, a small box of cereal, and a box of tea. How was it even assumed that that could be a complete order? At this point I'm getting irritated. I wait another 15 minutes for the second part of my order to be brought out, they almost had everything now! I send him back in for the rest of the items they had forgotten. Third time is the charm and I finally have all my items! Total wait time was one hour with only one other vehicle there for an order pick up. Customer service experience was awful and had I not checked my bags I would have come home with only a fraction of the groceries I had purchased. In the time it took me to go through all that trouble I could have done my grocery shopping twice over and been home for a good 20 minutes. I will not be using this service again. Bottom line: If you are looking for a quick and convenient way to get your groceries, don't use the Drive up and Go service at Safeway. read more

I told my husband to stop on his way from work and grab a bag of salad, deli fruit salad and a rotisserie chicken so we could slow our roll of eating out every night. He granted my request. As we sat eating our little chicken and salad and chattering over how we were so happy to not have to go back out, I asked how much he paid, so I could 'feel' the savings. $7.99 for a flippin' rotisserie bird? Really? I guess maybe that might be normal but I have grabbed them for $4.99 in the past and I know for sure Costco had them for $4.99 the day before when we went in there. I will say it might be worth the extra $$ not to have to fight a Costco scene right after a 10 hour shift, so I money well spent I guess, if it gets you home sooner. It was a good chicken and they had some discounted salad, otherwise, that would have been expensive for their brand. I don't shop Safeway at home, and the housekeepers were all in the hallway today. I asked where they shop and they said Smith's Grocery. They all told me that Whitefish Safeway had added a food tax recently and for me to take their advice and stay out of Whitefish. Did I just detect some Montana-Old West advice in there somewhere? Good to know. read more

The customer service at safeway is attrocious(like my spelling). the safeway in whitefish montana is the only store that I have ever received poor customer service at, and I have received poor customer service here quite more than just once. Last time I went here the severely dimwitted cashier was on their cellphone complaining about how they had to wait to take their break at work early that day . Come on, don't make personal calls when you are with a customer, sure , you probably make nothing (erm minimum wage) but still. Also, another grand thing about safeway is they always insist on saying "thank you mr/mrs. whatever" they have always called me by the wrong name, I know they are required to do so, but I find it to be silly. I would give safeway a 1, but they have a very good pharmacy and the people who work in the pharmacy are always very nice and helpful. Also, you don't have to ask customer service for condoms like you have to at super one. read more

Safeway definitely delivers as a grocery store and bakery. The food is always good and, even though it is a little more expensive than competing grocery stores, I feel there is more to offer with fresh produce and vegetarian foods. Let's be clear, though. If you are looking for a place with excellent customer service and friendly employees, you will not be getting it here. The deli food often lures me in for lunch, but when I leave I have a pit in my stomach from the experience with the employees. They always come to see if I need help right away, but when I am indecisive or take a second they get very annoyed and seem very short. They talk to one another while dishing out the food during the interaction and often make mistakes with it. I am a vegetarian so if I get pork egg rolls instead of spring rolls, it's a little frustrating. And even more than that, if they accidentally put meat in the container and I speak up over the employees talking to say that is not what I wanted, I have seen them put the meat back and use the same container for the vegetarian food. Not good. I have never paid at the deli so I awkwardly go to the front lanes and am often greeted by a not so friendly cashier. My advice: go to Super1 on the other side of the highway. It may not have a Starbucks or have the new, beautiful building, but I'm always greeted by friendly employees everywhere I go in there. read more

My daughter was just married and we were referred to Safeway for the flower bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. Oh my goodness, it was the best choice we could have made. Rudest costumer service I have ever had. Cashier was disrespectful and obviously on a power trip. Manager did not seem to care at all. Very unresponsive. We will never shop at safeway again after 10 years of being loyal costumers. Go to super 1, that's where most locals shop anyway. read more

When the new store opened it was terrific. But now that they've been taken over by Albertson's, it's worse every time we go. It had already started to deteriorate when the old manager (Randy?) left. There was a lot of employee changeover and now the good ones are all gone. But more than that, the selection has deteriorated, shelves are left empty, the good brands are gone. I've never been a fan of Super 1 and its miles and miles of aisles, but if we have to stop at both stores all the time, we might as well start going there first. This Safeway is now several steps down from the level it used to be. The building is nice, but the inside feels sub par. And a walk down the aisles is depressing. Even the meat selection is reduced. They've even turned one of the meat bins into cheese, in addition to all the cheese they have everywhere else. Plainly, they are going to change the store name to Albertson's shortly, not a store chain I've ever liked. I'd hoped they were keeping the Safeway brand and selection, but no, we're going down market. What I'd really like to see in town is a Wegman's. This is not it. There's nothing of that quality in the whole valley. read more

I found the pharmacist to be rude and unprofessional. When I questioned a medication which had been ordered by my veterinarian, a different brand and strength was substituted by the pharmacy and when I was told to cut the pill in half, even though the pill was not scored, the pharmacist just laughed and said I might get a little more medication in one 1/2 then I would in the other, but no big deal. If Costco takes this attitude on pet medications why would I be comfortable having them fill medications for me. I do not feel that there should be a difference in how medications are dispensed rather for a two legged customer or a four legged one. I have used Costco Pharmacy in the past for prescriptions and have found most of the employees in the pharmacy to be abrupt and always just short of being overly rude.
