We went on a weekday during happy hour and there was lots of seating and ample free parking. Their happy hour deals were nice, they had a wine deal where you get a double pour, so you pay for one glass but they give you a glass with double the wine content. It was a lot of wine but a good deal! The only thing that was difficult is their printed wine menu is different from what they had available. The waitress was nice so she got some recommendations from the bartender and we were able to choose wine that way. The pizza was great, some of the best we have had in Coralville. Their pasta tasted fresh and homemade, I am not sure if it is but that was the vibe we got. The broccolini was hot!! Not in a straight out of the oven way, but in an it carries some heat way. We thought maybe there was chili oil on it? But even though we weren't expecting the heat, they were super good. The only downside to the meal was the crème brûlée, it bothers me when the top isn't crispy. Normally, you use the spoon to kind of break the sugar glass on top (i think it's sugar?) and I was sad when the sugar on top was missing from half of it. I think to make it you use a blowtorch to melt the sugar on top (?) idk how it works, but whatever that step is I think it was missed. Other than that great food and drinks! read more

Wow. Ambiance. Legit. Food most importantly amazing. The basic cheese dish pizza, which is happy hour is filling for one person and can also be split for two. The ranch dressing was amazing. It just went up in price to $8. The six dollar beers could've been cheaper but hey for the price of the pizza I'll take it - much thank you so much. $15 (ranch $1 extra. Went to Marquee Pizza (https://www.marqueepizzeria.com) yesterday in the Iowa River Landing. They offer a decent cheese pizza and drink special for "Happy Hour". Unfortunately when the bill arrived we discovered the advertised (both in their menu at the restaurant and on-line) was now $8, not $6. When questioned, our waitress informed us that was their "new charge but menus just havent been updated yet". And, despite paying cash we were still charged the CC fee of $1. A bit disappointing. Updates today: Marquee management reached out and politely explained some recent changes. And they apologized for the experience we had. The issue was resolved to my satisfaction. Marquee is a great place to visit for happy hour. If you come during happy hour, cheese pizza is only $6 which is a great deal. They also offer lots of drink deals. Marquee is probably not the best wood fired pizza you'll ever find, but it is consistent, reliable, tasty, and well priced. My first visit here and my son's 2nd. We dined on a Thursday night before UIowa classes started. The FOOD was very good. Stracciatella was an interesting appetizer- a very warm large pita/pocket bread was served with a huge pile of "stretched" mozzarella cheese on the side and sea salt. The idea is you stuff the bread with as little or as much cheese as you want. A tasty small side salad with tomatoes, crispy pieces of prosciutto, artisan baby greens and a nice creamy Italian dressing (we took off the onions). We also shared a fundraiser pizza, Chicken Parmigiana, and it was simple and delicious. No complaints on the food quality. The SERVICE was slow, even though we sat at the bar. I am taking off one as I believe customers should be both acknowledged immediately (even if you're busy making drinks) with a quick "I'll be right with you," and the bar top should always be wiped clean. We did get noticed after 5+ minutes by a nice gal with a quick smile. She took our order, served our food and ultimately apologized for the kitchen not getting our appetizer out before our salad and pizza so she discounted the bill, which is appreciated and appropriate. The AMBIANCE seemed casual and pleasant. All the diners I saw seemed to be having an enjoyable evening. read more

This was "bruschetta". The bread was barely toasted. The sauce was thin and went everywhere. It did not resemble any type of bruschetta I've ever had in my life. My chicken cutlet was over fried and served on a hamburger bun which was odd - missing aioli and the cheese was barely melted. The ranch on the side cost $2 which is absurd. The garage door at the front of the building and the access to see the fire wood oven gives this place adds to the ambiance too. Food: I had the vegan and added mozzarella cheese. It has good flavor but the toppings and the sauce made the crust a bit floppy at the end. So I had to use a fork and knife to eat the tip. My friends enjoyed their pizzas immensely. We visited this place on a weekday for our anniversary dinner. I was expecting good to great food with reviews i saw. I don't want to run behind and describe my experience in details but my wife and I both weren't happy. The only good part was the waiter was very nice. He was patient with our questions. With food Bianca was good but with barely any toppings. Then with their tomato basil bisque too salty and felt discomforted after that. The most upsetting was their fries, extremely salty and burnt. Yes the place looked nice. A good rugged place, gotta bump up the food quality. Also wear thick clothes it was insanely cold in there. I noticed that they had Aperol at their bar and I knew exactly what I'd be indulging in... as I have been craving a wood-fired pizza + Aperol spritz this whole summer and have yet to happen upon a place that offers both on the menu. Let me tell you, that has to be the most perfect meal combo on the planet... Anyway, my friend and I decided to take advantage of the lunch special, which let us each have half a salad and split a pizza of our choice for $22! Really awesome value! The Aperol Spritz was pretty dang good, certainly good enough to kill my craving, but just a little watered down. The Sweet Nelson pizza was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it! The perfect marriage of sweet, salty and spicy! The Caprese salad was okay but not what I was expecting, too much spinach an not enough basil. Im not one to leave a scathing review, but it is warranted after tonight's experience. I'm a sixty-three year old professional, and I have never left an establishment without leaving a tip until tonight. In cases where service has been poor, I usually will leave 10-12%. Tonight's service at Marquee was abysmal! My lovely wife, daughter, and I stopped in tonight as Marquee is one of our daughter's favorite places to dine. We've patronized this establishment before and have received good to excellent service. Our server this evening, Lauren P. was horrible! After a lengthy wait, she inexplicably could not bring three drinks (a Shirley Temple, beer, and water) to the table in one trip. I witnessed in disbelief as she passed the bar several times with the beer waiting. When it arrived I had to politely remind her my wife had asked for water. Good grief! We were essentially ignored the entire time without any follow up, or an offer to have another drink, etc. I couldn't help but notice she was busy socializing with friends and carrying multiple drinks to other tables without any difficulties. There are plenty of other places in Coralville and Iowa City where the service and food are much better. read more

Good to be back in IRL at Marquee! This visit I got the Brick-o-mozza⁣, School's Out⁣ pizza, and Marquee mule⁣. We made sure to get there during their happy hour from 3-6pm. Most beers and their signature mule are 1/2 off and wine pours are 2-for-1. The cheese pull on the mozzarella was perfection! The food is amazing but we also always receive really great service We weren't even in a rush but the food came out just a little late and they discounted it! After posting my initial review, the owner reached out to me and offered his sincere apologies, assured me that this was an isolated incident, and asked me to give them another try. All I can say is that I am so glad I did! Life is too short to spend time on crappy pizza. I was really worried that this restaurant would be disappointing. It most certainly was not, this time. I had the Roni Supreme, which is a heavenly combination of sweet and spicy. Seriously, this is one of my favorite pizza is in the area, now. Everything about it was perfect. The spicy honey was just the right amount of sweet with just the right amount of spice. The pickled jalapeños provided a surprise crunch and kick. The pepperoni was wonderfully flavorful and the cheese was delicious. The service was also superb. Amazing spot in Iowa City!! We tried the Falco, Keepin it Local, Grandma's Hands, and Margherita. The crust is thin, the cheeses are SO fresh, and every pizza has a unique flavor of its own. Highly recommend Keepin it Local if you like zesty/sweet pizzas. The Margherita was also fantastic, tasted just it was straight out of Italy. Everything was super yummy. A pizza serves 1-2. I've been sitting in this restaurant for over an hour now for a simple lunch of one pizza and a salad with a glass of water. When I arrived there were six tables seated out of eighteen in the restaurant, with three people working front of house and three in the back. It's not exactly slammed. It was ten minutes from the time we were seated until anybody took our drink and food order, and a half hour until the salad arrived. I don't usually write the review while at the restaurant, but I'm finding a lot of time on my hands. And another half hour wait and the pizza has finally arrived. The pizza itself, a Sweet Angelo featuring sopressata, pickled peppers, and hot honey, is actually quite good. It's a Neapolitan style pizza, although the restaurant doesn't advertise itself as such. It strikes a blend of sweet and spicy that hits the right notes for a tasty slice. Only real downside is that it probably could have been cooked at a higher temperature to get more char on the crust and a bit of crispness on the edges of the sopressata. As we leave, there's a line reaching to the door despite the restaurant basically looking dead inside. Nobody is there to greet them. If this were rated purely on the quality of the food it's probably a 4 star. The service experience though was mind-boggling, as this style of pizza cooks in ~4-5 minutes. I have no clue how this place could ever handle a dinner service if they had all the tables full. I'd recommend ordering a pickup if you wanted a pizza from here. read more

If you enjoy listening to the waitresses bitch the whole time you're there this is the place for you. I watched a waitress fill up 2 water carafes for her tables a coworker took them. (she complained about before they arrived ("if they don't drink I'm going to die")), and this woman took them while her coworker was running food. Then told the waitress she stole them from "oh I found these on a table" false. I watched her steal them, then lie about it. She continuously complained about her 20 top ordering sodas and refusing to do 20 checks, she said "I'm doing 5 max I just can't do 20 checks". The WHOLE time I was eating I listened to her complaining and trying to get her coworkers to do her work. I ordered chicken parm. I sent it back, it was burnt and tasted like it. Was covered with sauce and cheese, I asked for bolognese and it was fantastic. Lacked a bit of acid, anchovy paste would do, and salt. Also had a mule cocktail and it was served in a glass. I have been coming to Marquee pizza since it first opened. Over the years it has made me feel like some sort of junkie chasing the high of my first few visits. But my last visit was the final breaking point. It's like they hire workers without actually training them how to do the job they were hired for. Host seems confused. Staff is pretty slow with getting your water, drinks, food etc. We went there for a happy hour pizza and beer. The Bartender pours a beer that is so flat it looks like ice tea. Does she pour it out and get a new keg? Nope. Does the waiter say anything... nope. I point out that beer is flat and the waiter apologizes. I order a different beer and that one was also flat although slightly less so. Like wtf is going on with the taps? Then our pizzas come out and they are the happy hour cheese pizzas. So the pizzas come out and it is doughy as all shit. The bottom has some nice color but the rest of the pizza needs another 5 minutes. At this point my gf and I just sat blank eyed and reflected on what once was a decent pizza place that has now turned to dust. Our family has been to the Marquee a few times We came aware after our son whom is a big sneaker head found that Iowa city Vice did a collaboration pizza. So obviously we had to try it. The collaboration pizza was great! This may or may not give away the time frame since last visit... if the pizza collaboration is no longer on the menu it would be a shame We have been wanting to make an exciting make it back.. if not I feel we would be able to select another that'd be just as memorable. read more
