I saw the "girls dinner" on Facebook and invited 3 friends. First, you don't have to start at 5:00 lol. We arrived and had excellent service. We ordered our cosmos (and one NA) and ordered our flights. Everything came together in small glasses (like a flight duh!) I had the #3. The guac bites and strawberry salad were phenomenal. I could do with less queso and more chicken with the tacos tinga but overall we had an amazing night. We left full but not overly full if you know what I mean. While I have yet to visit the establishment itself yet (but will happen very soon) I have ordered their food and it was amazing enough I felt a review was already necessary, both times I ordered their full rack of ribs and their buffalo wings, both are ridiculous, the wings are big and juicy while the sauce is the perfect amount of spice and not too over bearing but the star of the show is the ribs... the first time I ordered them i was blown away, they pull right off the bone the sauce on them is perfectly smoky and sweet but not too sweet and the portion was huge, I could only finish half then the other half at lunch then got off worked and ordered them right away again they were that good, do yourself a favor and give them a try read more

I went on Cinco de Mayo forgetting that it was a holiday. I was greeted very warmly with a big smile from Courtney. I had asked for a table outside since it was a nice day out and she was able to accommodate me. Courtney was very kind, personable, and apologetic for being busy. Jaden was my server. Jaden was also super friendly, loved his energy and his attentiveness. I tend to eat slower and I really appreciated not feeling rushed by him. We're visiting from out of town and researched a few places to check out. We were totally interested in the table side guacamole! We showed up at 6pm on a Sunday night and there were only 2 other tables. So our service was great! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. They were courteous of our children and very accommodating. But... I found a hair in my food, which is why it didn't earn 5 stars. I went to the 12:01 lat weekend. It happened to be the weekend of Iowa vs Minnesota in football. The town was buzzing. It was a horrible time to be short staffed. I will give the staff they have a great job. Greta was one that worked her tail off. I think they had at least 12 tables ech for the wait staff. Hard work will pay off! Food was pretty good also. We were trying to use the free appetizer coupon for this restaurant through yelp, we showed the kind waitress and she left to get our bill ready. Then we saw the manager come over and be suspicious of us, watching us, the waitress came back and said sorry my manager wants to see the coupon first. Okay? Showed him the coupon, he didn't say anything just left. The waitress was very apologetic. Completely ruined our dinner experience. Don't be in the hospitality business if you don't know the first thing about customer service. Why make customers feel like they're untrustworthy?? Food is outstanding, drinks are good, service was great! This is one of the best local places I've been to in a long time! They have a nice bar and also have an outdoor seating area with a fire. Nice atmosphere. The service was excellent, very attentive and will do any special requests you have, they checked on us many times and the owner/manager even came around to see how everything was. Order the shrimp tacos and they were amazing. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the salsa verde added a nice kick to the tacos. The server who helped me with my order, Jaden, was very kind and knew the ins and outs of the menu. Very bubbly personality and a good jokester. Really liked the atmosphere at the bar. Lots of TV's, marble bar top, friendly bartenders and good music. Perfect for business or other travelers. There is also ample dining areas those who come in with a group, a date or with friends. Tonight the absolute highlight of my meal was the French Onion Soup. Great taste and presentation. Would come back for another bowl! Side salad was also good and fresh. Didn't love my Walleye Tacos however. I will admit, I might not be an authority on what a good fish taco is or is not, because I don't like things too spicy. But, in my opinion these tacos need something. The Tacos were probably on the more mild side of the spice spectrum, but I did find them to be dry. (Even though the fish was perfect cooked and was juicy on its own). I think the Tacos would have been top notch if they had some type of mayo, pico or better yet avocado on them. One more recommendation... a smaller version of the guacamole would be awesome for all of us business travelers who sit at the bar! (You are attached to two hotels, so I would guess you get a lot of single travelers in to eat). It looked great, but it just wasn't priced or sized for anyone except a bigger group. We were dining at 9:20 and having a great time until 9:40 p.m when the wait staff began running an Electrolux vacuum beside our table. There is a quieter vacuum! Then at 10:00 they turned the lights all the way up! The young people who wait on the the tables seem to have exciting activities planned and want to evacuate the diners so they can leave! My corn chowder was different but not to my liking, and the garlic bread didn't rise up to its potential...lack-luster, at best. The hot tea from Farmer Brothers was excellent. The Guacamole and chips with Salsa was delicious. My husband enjoyed an unusual and lovely chicken quesadilla that was beautifully displayed. It was accompanied by the "best ever" Cole slaw! The lavender and gray decor is nice. Having to eat the last part of our dinner with the lights turned up on high...FULL POWER...seemed unnecessary. The staff had already vacuumed and cleaned off and set-up all of the tables for the next day at 10:00 precisely! This was the worst fine dining experience we have ever had. The young dining staff turned the lights on high at 9:50 and, thankfully, the manager told them they couldn't do that. It was too early. But at precisely ten o'clock the lights were turned on high once more and left on while we were continuing to eat. We felt like walking out and refusing to pay for our meal. If the management didn't want customers at 10:00, they shouldn't have seated us at 9:20. The name of the restaurant should be TEN 0'CLOCK SHARP instead of Twelve: 01. The name Bennington is in it which makes one think it is above average. This place is ridiculous. We won't be back! We're done forever! This is a long way from "IOWA NICE"! read more

I have been to Twelve01 a couple of times and it's an ok place to hang out, but the quality of the food doesn't seem consistent. Pros: Great patio space, wonderful during the summer. I also enjoy the guacamole made tableside (although honestly you can make the same thing at home for half the price) and the drink specials. You can't beat the $5 sangria on Fridays. Also good for groups. Cons: The last time I visited a couple of weeks ago the experience was only average. I ordered wings and they were dry and over cooked (see photo). I had to ask for extra sauce to make them edible. Also, while the sangria was cheap it wasn't great, it lacked flavor. Bottom line: Go in the summer for the patio, skip during cold weather because the food just isn't good enough to hang out inside. read more

Another good time at twelve 01. Finally got to try the tableside guacamole and it didnt disappoint! It went so well with my cobb salad. My salad was made with dark greens (which I love) and had a lovely array fresh toppings (crisp bacon, egg, chicken, blue cheese). I ended up eating it all because it was so good. listen, the food is great. but if the restaurant sees this the serving staff is awful. Most restaurants were packed tonight for dinner, so we ended up at Twelve01- party of 5 with 3 adults and 2 children. Adults all ordered steaks and they were all excellent. My children ordered kids meals and they were satisfied. The place was quite clean, they had tables spread out, and everyone wore a mask. Our only 2 complaints were on a Saturday night, they were obviously understaffed. Our waitress was busting butt to get to all her tables. It made wait time for simple things a bit longer than it should have. The other complaint is that one of the managers was wearing their mask inappropriately- with his nose exposed. It really only bothered me because he was the one handing out and delivering food. I just would rather not have him breathing of my children's French fries. Came here the first time because the restaurant is in our hotel and we just wanted booze. If you have read my other reviews, I complain about the lack of local brews on menus. This place has a local-only tap list, the first I have seen anywhere. Fantastic. Five stars. During my two visits here, I tried six, all very good. My wife kept ordering the Pink Cadillac mixed drink that comes with a dark red or pink ice cube. The manager is super nice. He stopped by both times and asked how we were doing, and remembered we had been there before. The staff wore University of Iowa shirts both nights, which is cool. When in Rome ... Overall service five stars. The second time around, we brought our freshman daughter who goes to Iowa. The place was packed. More libations, and food. We got the custom avocado with chips that is prepared at your table. I got the Twelve01 Sunrise burger, which is a ridiculous combo of Chorizo and beef, a fried egg and hashbrowns. Okay, so I think I have found my niche in life, which is craft beer and burgers with egg. I am like a moth to light ... that Sunrise burger, wow, I have found burger Shangri La, except, like, it is the real deal. Five enthusiastic stars. I want to go back to Coralville just so I can try their other items, like the BLT avocado egg sandwich ... I am certain it will be top notch. So, there I have said it. We will be back. read more

This was a pick from Yelp and it was right on. On the tail end of a cross country road trip with 3 buddies looking for a good dinner. I hadn't realized it was connected to a hotel, I thought it was a stand alone local joint. Where to start? We had a great server. She took the time to answer a couple questions for my buddies and tell us tonight's specials. Our drinks came out quick and meals followed timely too. One had ribs, one had the chicken. Finger basket one had the walleye, I had a hamburger. Everything was correct even with several special requests! Our food was served quick, Hot and Correct!!!
