I was at work one day, deeply pondering what I wanted for lunch that day. Was it 9 AM? 8 AM? Doesn't matter. I took a break from working diligently to look over my bookmarks on Yelp, and for some reason, I had this place marked as a place that I wanted to visit. So I ventured out at 11 AM, deciding that this is the place that I wanted to go. There is one of those aforementioned hipstery and douchebaggy taco carts across the street from my work, but I wanted real true tacos. Burrito cart saved the day. I received 4 chicken and spicy green chile tacos, covered with onion and cilantro, with a wedge of lime on the side. All for $6. I walked back to my office, showing off my prized possession to my coworkers, and I swear, we had to call in the cleaning crew to wipe up their piles of jealousy saliva as they drooled over the smell and look of my tacos. "MINE, YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM!" I yelled across the 4th floor. I got through 2 before I decided that I needed to take a picture to commemorate the flavorful chunks of chicken and green chile creating a masterpiece in my mouth. I got through 3 and decided that I needed to slow down. Maybe save the last taco for later. Not a chance. I scarfed it down and sat at my desk, in a taco coma, for a very long time. You can get a plate of 4 tacos (w/onions, salsa and cilantro) for as low as $6. It's our office's staple all year around. This little cart on the corner of 17th and Blake is helmed by the cutest couple, and for how crowded they are, they're putting out food incredibly quickly. The cart is cash only, so come prepared, though most of the menu is under $5. The breakfast burrito is simple in it's greatness. I had the egg, potato, and cheese, and everything about it was delicious. The biggest outlier from other burritos that I've had in town was the tortilla. This tortilla was actually good! I was browsing through 5280 Magazine and in the section where they were profiling Cheap Eats (cover story) I saw a blurb from a respected downtown chef who recommended the burrito cart at the corner of 17th and Blake. He liked the chicken mole burrito for three dollars that was as large as a Chipotle burrito. I happened to be near there that same day and decided to check it out. It was easy to spot on the corner though it was about as small as a burrito cart can be. The inside was just large enough to contain one person and his array of ingredients. Just outside was a nice lady taking orders and a chalkboard menu that listed about eight different kinds of burritos and a few taco choices along with a cooler containing various bottled and canned drinks. I ordered the chicken, rice, potato, bean and green chili burrito. Normally I don't go for a burrito with so many ingredients but I felt good about this one. Yes, it was only three dollars and yes, it was the size of a Chipotle burrito. It was in a word, *excellent* - in every respect. Every ingredient was "right" and it all went together wonderfully. I am planning on returning to this vendor again whenever I'm out for lunch in that neck of the woods. I hope they never go away. Salute! read more

I was afraid that the Burrito Cart no longer existed because there weren't any recent reviews. Happily, the Burrito Cart is alive and well! And so delicious and such a bargain! The day that I visited, the cart was in front of Sliceworks. I was craving a burrito with beans, rice, cheese, and some hot salsa, and that's exactly what I got for the bargain price of $3.50. $3.50?! The beans are refried, and the hot salsa is of the green variety. This particular burrito reminds me of California-style burritos. I'm excited to try the breakfast burritos and other options. I visit this cart about once a week - weather permitting. I love the food and the proprietors! The price is very reasonable and I never finish hungry. My favorite lunch is the pork green chili plate. It's $8 and it's a good amount of food. I also love the pork green chili burrito. I've see other people mention tacos, etc, but I just can't make those words come out of my mouth when I'm ordering. I want to but I can't - I love the plate so much. The owners are warm and friendly every time. And, if they're not there due to weather or whatever, I go into Slice Works instead and order a couple of slices of green chili pizza. read more

These things are like greasy and tasty without being greasy gross. I admit I'm very likely to get one when I'm hung over. And they keep you full forever. That said, I walked down to the little cart this morning to have a breakfast burrito, something I've been missing terribly since moving to Florida. I ordered my burrito and then got to watch her make it to my liking. YUM! I want to give the burrito cart 5 stars, but I want to find the right burrito for me. I wandered over there this morning to grab some breakfast. Super quick, took only like 3 minutes for her to create my burrito. I thought I asked for the chorizo burrito (#1), but I think the owner misunderstood me, and gave me the potato, green chili and egg burrito instead. It was good, great spicyness, not greasy at all, and very filling. Great for $3.50! I'm not very picky, but it would've been nice to order the burrito that I wanted. I frequent the Marquez Food cart for their awesome breakfast burritos. Every time I leave with my warm egg, chorizo, potato, cheese burrito laced with green chili and onion/cilantro I have a big smile on my face. Unlike so many corporate and chain restaurants that can dominate the dining landscape, this is about as Mom and Pop direct as you get. Literally. The husband and wife work in tandem, she creates the marvelous burritos while he manages the order and money. Maybe my happiness has to do with feeling like there's a direct impact and I'm contributing to their life. It's cash only, so don't come empty handed thinking they have nifty credit card options.
