I had a pair of dumplings which were good, but feasted on their Pokemon Bowl, a phenomenal merging of marinated ahi tuna, aroma tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, seaweed, green onions, and sticky rice, topped by a delicious sauce, and some seeds. I recently tried Roll It Up while attending the Outdoor Retailer show. The menu options sounded the best out of all the other food trucks to me so why not. The line was decently long, but they were pretty quick with the order taking and food delivery. I had the Pokemon bowl which consisted of seaweed salad, tuna, rice, onion flakes and a teriyaki type sauce. The bowl overall was okay. I liked how fresh the fish was, but I wish it had more toppings or spice. I ended up dosing it with some soy sauce and sriracha to add a bit more flavor. For a $11 bowl I just feel like it could have had something more exciting going on. If you're in the mood for a standard poke bowl then give them a shot, but don't expect anything outstanding. read more

It was mostly cooked/fried, and the only raw option was tuna (which I like, but it would have been nice to have more than one choice). My friend had gotten food from them before and said how great they were and I am sad I didn't go sooner. The owner's name is Matt and he is super kind. He trains his employees to not only make amazing sushi, but to also care about their customers and provide the best food truck customer experience possible. As others have said, my first reaction to a food truck with sushi was "what?!" But when they visited our neighborhood food truck night, the wife, son and I all gave them a try and were glad we did! Wife and son got the Pokemon bowl and said it was excellent--and my wife is really dubious about food trucks. I had the Nola Bowl with fried crawdads, and wow, it knocked my socks off. I'm not sure that fried crawfish really counts as sushi, but who cares when it tastes this good?! We also tried an order of the fried dumplings, which were hot, fresh and tasty--and at $4 for 5, were a good deal. What I can't figure out is why they have so few ratings. The person in front of me in line said she drove way out of her way just because she'd eaten with them before and knew how good they are. Sushi food truck? I dunno about this... That was my first reaction. I was at Cerebral Brewing looking at the truck and talking about it to a friend while enjoying my beer. That's when the owner walked in and asked us if we had any questions about the menu. We started talking and he answered a bunch of our questions, super friendly guy and really knowledgable. I guess he's a trained chef and decided to start his own business. I told him I would come out and get something to go when I was done. I ordered the Godzilla and the Coney Island rolls and watched him make everything. He has a deep frier in the truck, a huge fridge, and wooden cutting boards to roll everything right in front of you. When I got to finally eat the rolls I was really impressed how good they were. Not just "sushi from a food truck" good, it was "sushi in a really upscale sushi restaurant" good. I shared some of my sushi with a friend that is a bit of a sushi snob and she loved it! I highly recommend these guys! I walked by this truck a few times in Civic Center Park before I decided to stop and look at the menu. I was worried they wouldn't have any vegetarian options on a small menu. I was pleasantly surprised that no only did they have one but it could be made vegan. RIU Sushi came to my workplace today and I was so excited to get some fresh sushi at work, but wound up disappointed. Ingredients seemed high-quality, service was fast, but the value-for-money was really sub-par. I ordered the Pokemon Bowl and two dumplings, totaling $13 before tip and received 5-6 cubic cm of meat, half a cup of rice, some seaweed and a dollop of guacamole that all filled half of the smallest to-go container I had ever seen (3x5"), including the dumplings. I think this is an isolated incident because the photos I see from other reviewers show generous portion sizes for similar orders. Could it be because I opted for the "to-go" container? I thought it was an odd question since all food-trucks are really "to-go". I'll try them one more time if they come back, but not spending that much money again for half a meal. read more

Whaaat?!? A sushi food truck? Normally I'd shy away from sushi out of a truck but this was excellent. I had the Pokémon bowl and it was loaded full of fresh tuna chunks (I was expecting more rice than tuna but I was very pleasantly surprised that it was the opposite). Great flavor, the right mix of textures and just the right amount of sauce. I'd definitely order it again. We also got the roll that had similar ingredients (can't recall the name) and it was also delicious (although I stole the bowl for myself right out of the gates). Great things: service, convenience, speed, fish is fresh. Bad things: Food is overpriced for what you get, too much mayo/sauce on everything. Not a great experience sushi-wise. My roll was drowned in spicy mayo. Another drop, and I would call it an entree of mayo with a side of sushi. I scraped off all I could (more than half) and it was still too much. For $10 per small roll, I expected more - for reference, a roll like this would be between $7 and $10 at Sushi Hai, and well, that's one of the best sushi places in the state. I also got dumplings, $4, they are deep fried, which I wish was more readily disclosed on the menu (honestly, it may be mentioned, but I don't remember seeing it). Normally, I like steamed or pan-fried dumplings. The deep-fried ones taste very differently; some people will definitely prefer this method. The skin is crunchy and evenly fried with a more bread-like flavor. I was not a fan because to me the texture resembled a chewy fortune cookie. read more
