The hotel's bar is a great gathering place for groups of people to sit, relax and chat. I love the bartenders, they're very knowledgeable and personable. I really do love the Marriott Brand and realize I need to write reviews of the hotels I enjoy. But, not today. Upon entry it looks like and smells like a Marriott, but head to your room and it transforms into the Stanley Hotel. There were kicked in doors and because I am dramatic I imagine it it a murder room. I will never know what happened there and apparently neither does the concierge. The smell decades of cigerette smoke fill the hallways. The rooms and bathrooms need real updates. It just feels gross. The extended patio is nice and the service is good. I am still embarrassed that we send our relatives here when they visit. read more

The hotel is under massive construction which isn't noted on the booking site. There is a parking lot and parking garage, but you are not allowed to use them. It is valet only. Dumb here in the burbs and inconvenient. I was greeted here with a rent a cop coming up to me telling me to move my car it is private property. This unwelcoming bit is all is a harbinger of what's to come. At check in I was told loudly twice my card was declined I pre paid with. I told them I knew it went through and they said it didn't. Guess what? I've been charged twice, and after over three weeks of the run around it's looking like small claims court isn't far off. The error at check in seems to be known and should be corrected. It'd save time and money. Last but not least, the very dated and dingy rooms! (Yikes!) If you like awful saggy beds this hotel has them, and one with a black hair on it that sure wasn't mine since I'm dark blond. The water was super hot and you couldn't get it cool even which is funny looking at other reviews. The whole room looks like another world compared the lobby. The carpet is super nasty and will either enhance or destroy my immune system, not sure which yet. The construction also woke me up before my alarm. This should not be open. There are far better alternatives in this area. Do yourself a favor and pass on this Marriott. We just needed an extra room due to an emergency, and the numerous other hotels over here are nicer without the added hassles. FYI: The hotel also has a poor layout. It's a hike to the elevators and rooms. This may be important to those with mobility issues. Do better! read more

I had a long journey and a 4-hour flight to get to this hotel, only to find out upon arrival (April 29th, around 5 PM) that my reservation had been canceled without my knowledge. I had booked through my company's travel app (Navan) about a month in advance and received no notification--no email, no phone call--about the cancellation, which I was told was due to renovations. The woman at the front desk (long black hair, half tied up) asked if I had received an email about the cancellation. Frankly, if I had, I wouldn't have shown up. She then informed me I would be sent to their "sister" hotel about 5 minutes away (in reality, it was closer to 10 minutes by car), which completely defeated the purpose of booking this hotel in the first place--it was chosen specifically because of its proximity to Varispace for a business trip. When I arrived at the new hotel (The Southlake Marriott), the front desk had no record of a reservation for me. I then spent 30 minutes on the phone with a Marriott Westlake representative trying to sort everything out. She was incredibly helpful and reassured me that the original reservation had been canceled without penalty, and that no charges were made to the company card on file. However, I still had to use my personal credit card to make a new reservation at the second hotel. The way this situation was handled by the Marriott Dallas/Fort Worth Westlake staff was unacceptable. There was no communication about the cancellation, no reservation made on my behalf at the alternate location, and no ownership or real apology from the front desk staff. I left feeling incredibly frustrated and disappointed. I've never experienced anything like this before, and I will not be booking here again. read more

Stayed here unexpectedly for work for one night. The shuttle from DFW took almost an hour during rush hour, but was quick in the morning when we left at about 4:40am. Room was ok! A bit outdated but a typical hotel room nonetheless. The staff at check in was very friendly. Only issue I had was being ignored at the bar while I was standing there waiting to order with my card in hand. Two of my coworkers ordered before me then went to grab a table and when it was my turn, suddenly everyone behind the bar had something else to do until I spoke up after a few minutes of them walking right past me. The hotel staff was great and check in was easy. The carpet throughout seems dated but the rooms and bathroom were clean. The cafe sold some of the Starbucks drinks but options were limited and not all ingredients were in stock. There is a breakfast buffet at $23 per person but it had lots of options (we skipped it). The area itself has other adjacent buildings in a quad type area so you could walk to a few restaurants in 1-2 minutes. read more

My company had a corporate event here and it was fantastic from check in to check out. I received a warm welcome at check in. I was amazed at the quality of the food. One of our evening dinners had braised short ribs and it was absolutely delicious. I have to say I was a little disappointed initially when I heard we were having our conference at a hotel but I was absolutely floored by the quality of food, snacks and service. The furnishings were lovely and hip. I would say the weakest part of my stay was the room itself but it was your standard Marriot room. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice. It was just fine. However the bar/restaurant downstairs had a great layout and vibe. The lobby area was nicely decorated and the fireplace area was very cozy. I was very impressed by the staff thanking us as we left for our buses to go to the airport. That was a really nice touch and I wanted to applaud them because I thought they did an amazing job. If you are considering the Marriott for a corporate event, I would highly recommend and if you're just wondering if this is a nice Marriott to stay while in the Dallas area, I would also highly recommend. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business conference. The gentleman that picked me up from DFW in the shuttle was super nice. Once we got to the hotel, first impression was how nice it appeared. Lobby is updated and nice with a large bar and seating area. Got checked in and headed to my room on the first floor. That's where it started going downhill. There was construction going on in the hallway to remove what appeared to be a huge mold problem. We weren't warned of that or anything. I can't imagine it's very safe to be staying near this as the workers doing this had no protections in place. Drywall dust flying everywhere. Once I got in my room it appeared clean for the most part. My tv wasn't working so maintenance had to come twice to fix it, after thinking it was fixed the first time. Bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned real well. I had a hole in my ceiling that was dripping water. Normally I'm an IHG property girl but since this was business, I wasn't the one who made the bookings. Our second night we hung out on the patio that had a nice fire table. Once we went back inside though there was a horrid skunk smell. My room also had what was a burnt skunk smell to it that evening. My things all need to be washed as I'm at the airport now and can still smell it. I would avoid this property if possible. But one of the pros was the front desk staff was extremely polite and friendly, and our food during our conference was very good. read more

Well, there's a lot to say about this place. The front desk does a good job being friendly and helping you with your needs. The restaurant/bar does a great job waiting on you. Kitchen staff makes great food. Nathan is a great manager. He helped us with our concerns about our room and understood our circumstances took care of us. Checking out, we met a man named LUIS, which he was very hospitable and helped us. He has a great accent, and he has a heart of gold. he may be a little challenged. For as extravagant as this place is and for the price you pay to stay, one would expect to have hot water (hell I'd even settle for warm water). Called front desk to inform them, was told that since we booked our room through a third-party vendor there was nothing they could do. Was told maintenance could look into it, but with 30mins before our checkout time that wasn't going to solve anything. When we stayed at the Marriott this past week with my guy we were not happy with the room. First my guy made reservations online and was given a third floor room with a pool view and when we checked in we got second-floor partial view end of the hall room with a patio viewing the trees. The Internet service was blocked and you had to purchase Wi-Fi or you don't have Internet at all we had one bar for our whole stay of one night. There were no extra blankets in the closet, we had to call room service and have them bring us blankets and extra pillows. The quality of the room was not that great for the price that he paid for and front desk employees were never available on the phone to answer calls! The pool was dirty and jacuzzi closed! My husband has been a Marriott rewards member for years, so every now and again I take advantage when he has extra points and use them for a staycation. As someone who works from home it's nice to get a change of scenery while recharging my batteries, as well as to be able to relax on a bed that isn't covered in dog hair :-) I stayed on a Saturday night and it was a ghost town. They upgraded me to a king room on the Concierge Level (6th floor), but the lounge was closed so it didn't feel like much of a perk. You aren't even able to go in and get a bottle of water since it's unattended on weekends. The on-site Starbucks was also closed which was a bummer (at least it was in the afternoon when I attempted to go, not sure if it was open in the morning since I didn't check in until 3). I had lots of writing I wanted to catch up on and had hoped to be properly caffeinated while doing so, but apparently this hotel is mainly used for conferences and shuts down after 5pm on Friday. The room was nice though with a comfy bed and spacious layout. I was able to login to my Netflix account and stream directly from the room tv so that was cool. I even walked to the shops next-door and picked dinner up which was convenient. They do offer room service here, but it's not the kind you expect. I miss the days when Marriott had traditional room service complete with the cart and tiny salt and pepper shakers. There was something that felt so lavish about lounging in your room with a pretty tray of food. Now they offer a Fresh Bites menu where they apply a no muss, no fuss type attitude. They took away the carts and real utensils, and instead deliver a shopping bag to your door with everything packed in to go containers. Imagine being surprised with breakfast in bed where you are brought a tray, maybe even with a flower in a small vase, to instead simply being handed a McDonald's bag. That's pretty much the experience now which, to me at least, just does't make ordering room service feel as special as it used to. I will say that the egg white whole wheat english muffin sandwich I ordered was way better than I expected it to be. It was seasoned nicely and packed full of spinach and avocado, two things I love. The blueberry muffin I got alongside however, not so much. There were about 3 actual berries in it and it was as stale as the day is long. Overall, this is a nice hotel that I would absolutely stay in again (during the week though when more things are open). ;-) I also wouldn't recommend their room service, as I don't feel the price you pay is worth the quality of what you get. read more

This place is a shady AF. I normally don't write reviews in this manner, but I am going to be straight forward. 1) booked the same day via the Marriott App. They charged me twice for points for the room. 2) when I got to the hotel we went straight to the room. I had a mobile key sent to me. My room was on the 3rd floor. 328 to be exact. When we got there, there was a swingers party on the whole floor of the hotel. That's cool, people do what people do. The hallway was blocked off to even access my room. We just left, and went some where else. 3) then to top it off. They charged my credit card for $70.00. For what? They never produced and recorded of anything. I didn't spend money there, it was points. And we didn't even stay. Stay away, stay far away. Not an honest place. read more

Looks more like a highway exit hotel than a Marriott. Remote barely worked and was "sticky", shower faucet would come out, etc. etc. Normally I don't care and just move on and don't write a review. But this is why now. I was ignored the whole time I ate. Did not get a refill and was given tomato. I noticed everyone else was being served that had alcohol except me. I finally flagged someone down and expessed my concern. I was offered a free drink. Lmao. I also was greeted by 2 very large cockroaches in my room. They were impressive. Mobile key kinda works. This was my first stay at this Marriott Hotel, and while I've never been a huge fan of Marriott properties nor easily impressed, I must admit that I they met my expectations. I understand from a co-worker that the lobby was recently renovated and it looked clean, tidy, and modern. The staff was not only friendly, but very helpful. The lobby restaurant/bar was plenty large to accommodate medium sized groups of travelers, although it did become overwhelmingly loud at times which interfered with conversation. I also have to question the lighting fixture near the front desk - check it out and you'll know what I mean. The complementary in room breakfast was a bonus and the fitness club access if far better than your average hotel workout room. The real Starbucks in the lobby was also appealing during my stay. The room was clean and large enough with a comfortable bed. However the bathroom was tight with an awkwardly shaped sink with limited countertop space. Water pressure was adequate, but the lack of hot water one morning was disturbing. The bed linens were fresh and soft, but the towels etc are tired and in need of replacement. Due to its location I would stay here again for a short stay, but on longer visits I prefer a hotel closer to other restaurant options, shopping, and more updated bathroom amenities. read more

This was the worst Marriott experience I ever had (I'm titanium and travel very frequently). About 24 hours before my arrival, I got an email that my reservation was cancelled, but contacted the hotel and was assured everything was fine and to ignore the email. I arrived late at night to check in after landing at DFW and my check in took over 20 minutes with the front desk worker continually disappearing into the back room every few minutes (meanwhile I have Whataburger in my purse that I'm dying to get to my room and eat -had to sneak a fry every few minutes to survive). My confirmed suite night was not honored and I was told it was never confirmed (I had email evidence). I was really hungry so gave up on that. I was given a tour of the hotel by the night manager, who was kind and helpful. She informed me that the lounge would be closed for the entirety of my stay because it was a weekend (pre-COVID stay) which surprised me and I wish I had known before booking the hotel. The room was okay - outdated and no-frills but otherwise seemed fine. However, the last straw was the LIZARD in my room. I contacted the front desk and they said maintenance would come. After about 30 minutes of babysitting this lizard, nobody came, and I had a friend come remove him/her. Maintenance finally showed up later but I told them they weren't needed. I understand lizards are common in the area and similar to other pests, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to sleep without worrying about waking up with a lizard on your face. I gave Marriott all of this information at the end of my stay and told them I was unhappy. The hotel manager set up a time to call me and then never called. Never heard anything else about it. Others seem to have had great experiences here, but I won't be back. read more

Ruth was a great help to me, it was just her and one other lady. I didn't get the other young ladies name, but she was tall with brown hair and glasses. There never seemed to be more than two workers and I had to wait for a simple request. Both ladies were working really hard and were nice and apologetic for the wait but they could have used twice as many people to handle the morning rush. I was here for a week and experienced this same thing just about everyday. My husband and I came back to the Marriott Solana after 5 years to re-crest our wedding night. I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to pull it off simply because I only thought about doing it 2 days before our anniversary weekend and I couldn't even remember what room we stayed in. After talking to a few people at the Marriott, I got connected with my event coordinator, Malikah Martin, who help me create the wedding of my dreams 5 years ago. Who would have known that she would still be there. Well I have to say that she not only helped me recreate our special day but completely took care of us during our entire stay. My Sis had her wedding reception here this past Saturday and it was a blast without a glitch in service. The reception was held in Salons A-D conveniently located right next to a beautiful bar lounge (in case your party is not serving booze). We opened a tab and made many runs for bottles of wine and beer and I was always surprised that the beautiful lounge was empty. Salons A-D were beautifully decorated in a black and white 40's theme and the entire Hotel has a beautiful Mexican Modern style design. We confirmed with concierge when we arrived that it was ok to park in the closest parking (Wells Fargo 2 HR parking) "yes for the weekend". I was not planning on staying the night but it was such a stormy night and after drinking I ended up sharing a huge plush cushy bed with my cousin and dog (who I snuck in - no easy task for a large breed:) - flat screen TVs and free wifi in the rooms. read more

We live locally and stayed here while workers were in our home. As a former flight crew member, some of my requirements for lodging may have changed but these remain the same: Safety and security is utmost; comfortable beds; cleanliness; responsiveness of staff. All of these were met, if not exceeded. There is a fitness facility available but we opted for swimming in the outdoor pool and soaking in the spa. The kids were delightfully surprised that pool noodles were available. There were also games like Jenga, checkers and chess. Once they got hungry, we ordered poolside dining and started eating twenty minutes later just as promised. For dinner, we walked over to La Scala where we have eaten occasionally. Fossil Creek Liquor is attached next to the business and if I were inclined to drink back in my room, I would've picked up a bottle or two. Overall, it was a great experience and we loved being away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Southlake without compromising on conveniences. We would stay here again! read more

Fridge It baffles me that many upscale hotels aren't more on point with these things (especially for crew) because we have to LIVE "on the road". Wow, what a gorgeous hotel! I'm assuming it may have recently gone though a renovation because it was quite stunning. From the moment you park in the free parking to when you walk into the lobby - it is very welcoming. Right off the interstate, and conventionally located in a small retail area with other food and stores, it's a great location. I was traveling for work and we got to stay here. The lobby bar is great and had friendly service, very easy to navigate the hotel, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, nice little balconies and a great pool area. This is one hotel I will be looking forward to visiting again while on the road for work. read more

The amazing staff deserve FIVE STARS however the hotel itself not so much... My room was on the first floor down a hall to the right of the elevators and there is a large nearly floor to ceiling window along the hall, for the four days I was there each time I passed the window I saw the same rather large dead mosquito on the window sill. I mentioned it to the front desk but.... The room was nice enough however the shower curtain hooks were all coming apart and the soap shelf in the shower broken. Small details have a huge impact and this hotel is showing its age. On the other hand, the staff were sincerely pleasant and polite! I live nearby this hotel. My kids love to stay in hotels, order room service and swim in the pool. Had to alter spring break plans so to make them happy, decided to stay here and got a decent $142 rate. I have been staying at Marriott hotels in Houston, Austin and San Francisco recently and have really been enjoying them. This place is a dump. Superficially nice in the Commons area. Rooms are old. Pool is supposed to be heated. Was freezing and in terrible shape. Like no one had walked out there in months. No towels. Filthy pools with leaves everywhere. Deck hadn't been swept in weeks. Room service forgot one whole order. The hotel is not very crowded so it's not that they are very busy. Place has potential with pretty cool architecture and a great location. Picture on site are a little deceiving. I am very unhappy with my stay and am trying to get the kids to go home to spend the night. read more

Well, it looks like there aren't any negative reviews in here so I'll be "that" guy. First the pros: The place is nice. The modern aesthetics add a certain... je ne sais quoi and my interactions with the employees at the concierge desk were pleasant. I'm sure staying in the hotel itself is an enjoyable experience. I even had some family stay there recently and they were all satisfied with the rooms and services provided (although, standard prices when searching online are in the $250+ range, so I guess it better be satisfactory). However, my issues with the DFW Marriott Solana is more with the hotel as a reception venue and the atrocious service associated with that. My cousin had her wedding lunch reception here, and I was one of the groomsmen. After the reception was over, the first question I asked another cousin was: "Did we book the Solana for our event first, or was it the people who have the event happening later in the evening?" The reason I asked is because whoever books the venue first on a specific day gets priority (that's standard practice). I found out that our lunch reception was booked first, so we should have had priority. Instead, even as the reception was happening, I was annoyed to see that the servers were taking things (food, utensils still being used) away; there was this air of impatience with every server in the hall and they were rushing everything. Before we were out of the hall and even as the guests were having pictures taken with the newlyweds, the staff was dismantling decorative aspects of the hall and kicking apart the manufactured dance floor. The only way they could have made it more obvious that they wanted us out to leave was if they had held up signs that said "GET OUT!" And I checked the time, we were well within our established time limit, so if they had wanted to dismantle, they were supposed to start at the end of our reception, not as soon as they were able to work their way in and around the hundreds of guests. On the subject of food, it was bad and they should feel bad. It was also miniscule, and not the "oh that's some fandangled fancy food" kind of miniscule, more the "we're cheap and we're going to cut corners" kind of miniscule. When the bridal party requested to get appetizers (since we were the last to arrive), we were told that there were no more. Riiiight. When a Bananas Foster dessert was placed in front of me after my meal, I asked if I could get the Tiramisu instead since the server didn't ask us what we wanted. She said and I quote, "you can trade with someone." ... (-_-) ... Whatever my cousin paid to use the Solana was too much. So sure, stay in the hotel, and enjoy yourself. But if you decide to have your wedding reception there, be aware that they think very little of you (and your guests) once they've taken your money, and they'll certainly communicate that through their actions. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights over the Memorial day weekend at a greatly discounted rate of $111 from a regular rate around $249 as it is primarily a business hotel and was pratically empty. Very modern, boutique style decor, with comfortable, loungey furniture you can sink right into throughout the public areas. One of the nicest concierge lounges I've been in throughout the Marrriott chain. The pool is a bit small...its long, but very narrow. Great for doing laps in if there isn't anyone else using it. It appears that alot of events are held here. There was a wedding one evening, a high school event, and a couple large parties in the banquet rooms. Restaurant menu is relatively creative. I only had breakfast here, but the dinner menu looked interesting. Lunch menu is standard fare. If you're looking for an upscale hotel away from the standard brands, but still close to the airport and Southlake Center, this is a great place to stay. It also includes free access to the Solana spa which is within walking distance. There are also 4-5 restaurants right beside the hotel that are very reasonable priced. read more

As a business traveler who all too often has to suffer through the generic mediocrity of a Marriott Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn, the Marriott Solana was a nice treat. This was my first trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so I have no real point of comparison, but I was definitely impressed and would stay here again. The hotel tries very hard to incorporate lots of resort-like touches despite catering to many business travelers and conferences. Lots of outdoor sitting areas with upholstered couches and fire-lit lamps are strategically placed throughout the grounds with mood lighting perfect for a late evening drink under the stars. The pool is very nice too, though I didn't have much time to do anything other than look at it. Rooms are decently appointed. Hotel bar was great, but the hotel food was dreadful. One bite of a meal inside the walls of the Solana and you are quickly and sadly reminded of the fact that you are still staying at a Marriott. Unfortunately, the only other place I knew of in walking distance for food was a place called Diego's and that food was pretty awful too. So either drive out somewhere to dine, or just have a few extra drinks and pack a few granola bars to eat back in your hotel room afterward. I'll be back later this Fall. read more

This was by far the worst Marriott experience I ever had. For the price you pay to stay and the area around it, something could have been done to make this place more appealing. The lobby looks like it has been updated and then you get in the elevator and walk out into a dated sauna on the guest room floors. I assumed that it would maybe feel better in our room. I was wrong, turned the a/c to 64 and still didn't get cool even after being on for over 36 hours straight at that temperature. The next item was, about 9 hours AFTER I arrived and checked into my room, I got an email that my reservation was cancelled, but contacted the hotel and was assured everything was fine and to ignore the email. So, I went on my way the rest of the day. We arrived back at our hotel after spending the entire day (left the room at 7:00am and returned at 11:00pm) to an untouched room. Bed wasn't made, no new towels, trash still in the cans. I would assume that since it's a hotel that they would come in to do housekeeping during the day. I called the front desk to ask and was told that I needed to request housekeeping to come in and clean the room. When did this start? I worked in a hotel for many years and have never heard of this even with COVID -19 going on. So, I ignored that and proceeded to just take a shower and get in bed since we had planned the next day and were checking out anyways. Turned on the hot water and waited about 20 minutes for some luke warm water to come out. I was too tired to even bother calling the front desk again so I just jumped in quick and thought I stepped on a bar of soap. If my husband wasn't behind me to catch me, I would have fallen right into the shower. He helped me with the shower by putting a towel down in the tub and I got to take my shower. Got into bed and was getting ready to leave the next morning by 9:00 and housekeeping was already knocking at the door. I guess they didn't get the memo that check out time was 11:00am. Will not be returning. read more
