We came for a three day weekend, and while the lobby was nicely decorated, the stay itself did not get off to a good start. One of the front desk representatives was extremely rude and would benefit greatly from retraining, or perhaps a role behind the scenes where she does not interact with guests. When I showed her a photo of the conditions in our room, she simply asked to take a picture of it and then completely ignored me. ​On top of that service experience, we had to be reassigned to three different rooms before getting a decent one: * ​Room 1: Was not properly cleaned; there were hairs all over the bed and a filthy bathroom. * ​Room 2: Had what appeared to be blood stains on the bedding. * ​Room 3: Was acceptable by default, though the AC was weak and a fixture came off in the shower which were issues that only seemed minor compared to what we had just dealt with. ​To be fair, credit should be given to the representative who assisted with the room changes bevause she was helpful and apologetic. I also spoke with a manager at checkout to provide a brief rundown of this experience. While she apologized and offered to add some points to my account, the gesture felt minimal given the inconvenience of the situation. ​We were extremely disappointed with this stay. Had we been able to switch hotels last minute, we absolutely would have. This is simply not the level of hospitality or standards I have come to expect from the Marriott brand. read more

We had a really nice time at the Marriott Melville. As an ex Marriott Titanium and now current Bonvoy Platinum member, this Marriott was a pleasure. Our check in went smooth and the front desk staff was very nice. Sad that it was on a Saturday and no M Lounge, but we enjoyed the restaurant for an evening bite and breakfast the next morning. Parking was free which was great. There is valet service available for overnite if you need it. The breakfast buffet was very nice and you can tell they make sure everything looks nicely put together and neat and clean. That's impt to me, especially with breakfast buffets. The food was good and plentiful. The room was a very nice size, comfortable and we had plenty of room. The chargers worked on both sides of the bed, which was nice to see. We used points for this trip, and prices weren't too bad without the points. We will definitely be back when we need a place to stay in the Melville area. read more

Did a one overnight stay over the weekend, we had no issues far as getting our key and room. The room was clean and the bed was relaxing. Bathroom toilet was an issue though, not sure if it was the water pressure but it started to stop up. Otherwise we didn't have any issues with the room and stay. The only issue I had was when we went to the restaurant within the hotel. The food was good but the waitress and staff were subpar. The waitress kept getting lost and one of my friend ordered shrimp to be added to her Cobb salad and it took 2 other staff members and then the manager before we finally got the shrimp. My friend's salad was already half way gone. It shouldn't have taken 45 minutes to an hour to get shrimp. The manager did finally come over and stated they would take the shrimp off the bill and offered us complementary dessert for the issue. How about the terrible waitress we had come's over with the bill with the shrimp still on the bill and then says "well we gave you dessert". I believe fire came out my head, was she serious, we did not ask for dessert, we asked for the shrimp that took almost an hour to come to be removed. We then asked to speak with the manager again and she pushing us to pay the bill first (without removing the shrimp). I thought I was on an episode of Punk'd. She must have saw our face, because we were absolutely speechless after that, and goes to get the manager. The manager does not come back but the bill has now been fixed, with the shrimp removed. Waitress walks away, we have payment and it took me standing up and looking at her just standing there chatting to finally come and get our payment. I would recommend the food because it was good, I got the turkey burger, my friends got the Cobb salad and grilled chicken burger. For appetizers we got the chicken quesadillas and the a cauliflower. Found another Marriott that doesn't make me want scream expletives into the abyss. The person at the front desk was top notch, so she got things started well. The room was clean and the thermostat mostly worked (but couldn't cool the room down as much as I'd like...will ask for an outside room next time since mine overlooked the interior). There was some kind of gathering in the main open space that many of the rooms overlook and it was quite noisy. I was working late-ish on my computer, but I would have been irritated if I was trying to sleep. Yeah-next time I'll ask for the outside facing room... The gym isn't my favorite setup... a bit like a fishbowl that people can see in. Concierge lounge is decent. No bottled water but they do have a filtered refill station for travel cups. Already have another booking here in the near future. read more

"From The Sound up in Long Island Out to San Francisco Bay And everything that's in between them Is our own" (Charlie Daniels Band) We spent two nights here for a wedding and had an interesting experience with our reservations. The day we received the wedding invitation; we called to reserve a room under the room block but were told only one night was available. Seems there was a children's lacrosse tournament in town and the hotel was close to being sold out. We ended up reserving one night under the room block and a second night through a different registration with a regular price that would have been in the $400+ range had we not used points. We were dreading checking out after day one and checking into a different room, but luckily the Marriott worked things out, so we stayed in the same room, but still had to go to the front desk in the morning and "check in" again. The hotel is beautiful; with a wide-open spacious lobby and a dazzling atrium ceiling that's at least four stories high in places. Our room was excellent with a big bathroom, large and comfortable room with a nice work station, comfortable bed, excellent Wi-Fi and TV, and plenty of charging outlets. The location is pretty much sitting in the shadow of the Long Island Expressway Exit # 49. The hotel is smack in the middle of a Long Island office park megalopolis, so you have to walk half a mile to find a deli, coffee shop, and restaurants. We had a nice stay, the staff was helpful, our room was fine, and the space was very beautiful. read more

The hotel room was grim. There was wear and tear on the basic furniture was upsetting. Paint was actively missing. There were no mirrors. The lack of mirrors was, extremely helpful in preparing for our friend's wedding. Also the toilet did not flush. We were titanium elite, but the lounge was closed for the duration of our visit. No worries...we were given free breakfast. Don't worry, there was an utterly sad omelet station. We were told there was free breakfast. When we took advantage of the sad omelet station, we were given an upcharge by the wait staff...we would have done better cost wise at the local IHOP and the food would have been better. Stayed here for 2 nights. It was a bit of a drive from JFK in afternoon busy traffic. The hotel is big, and the front desk is right by the door, welcoming you when you walk in. There's a snack shop near the desk, you can charge your items to the room, and they have more than enough things to eat late at night. I took the elevator up to the 3rd floor, and the halls were clean, and it was easy to find the room. The room is a good size with a view of the parking lot. The AC didn't get cold until late at night. It was warm in the room with AC at 65 degrees during the day, so I kept the blinds pulled. The lamp next to the couch didn't work. There was also a laundry bag left in the room. The front desk said someone would come and get it. Then they called back and told us to put it outside the door. The bag stayed outside the door until almost 11am the next day. The bed was tough, and the pillows were flat because of the ice that they charge nightly, but it was convenient for our trip. read more

This by far was the WORST experience I have ever had at a hotel. I am still exhausted from the LACK of sleep at this place. Whoever designed this hotel nees to go back to the drawing board. Our room was on the inner parameter of the hotel with sliding glass doors (also a hallway) which meant intoxicated guests walking by knocking on the glass. Lets not get started by the yelling you can hear in the atrium. I see a response from marriot from another review having the same experience and we were supposed to tell the front desk we were 'noise sensitive"?? How about your front desk tell your guests that from out of state. Its not something one should have to ask for $300 night room. I will never stay here again nor recommend this place to anyone. Not a lot of special here. However there's not a lot of competition in the area so there's no need to improve. I switched rooms because I walked all the way to my room they assigned and the key didn't work. Little did I know that was a common theme. My next room and the door to the gym all struggled accepting the key card. The gym was decent. Lots of cardio equipment, but very few weights. Positives are that it's right next to the highway and halfway down Long Island. Staff was nice. They have coffee in the lobby in the am and fruit infused water at night. Pool looked nice but I didn't spend any time in it. read more

Came here to stay because we were in town for a wedding. Walking in, we thought it was beautiful but our stay was immediately disturbed by the $420 hold the hotel took from my card even though I had already paid for my room through booking.com. The concierge tried to tell me there was only a $50 hold even after I showed her me paying 300 something dollars on booking plus being charged another $420 is absolutely not equivalent. She later informed me the $420 would go back in a few hours, which wasn't the case. The day I was leaving, I had to go back to her to explain I still hadn't gotten a refund, she then tells me that this will be then be refunded after 72 hours of checking out. Maybe it's just me but 420 hold is beyond extreme. Besides that, theres no circulating air in this hotel, it's all closed in. This makes the hotel feel musty. Also, the rooms are small. Overall, this place is overrated, not worth the money and a waste of time and money. read more

Noise. It's so loud in this hotel. Rooms have glass doors that are next to the open bar and common space. If you want to go to sleep before 10 and want it quiet, that's not happening. I guess I need to ask for an outside room next time? Noise machine helped. Keys don't work most times. They gave me two keys because they said they don't always work. Seems like they need to invest in better cards/readers soon. Had to swipe card many times to get into room. No hot water the first morning for most customers. Alarm went off at 1:30 am. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in this country, most of them Marriott's. This is one of the worst I've been to. To start off, the front desk staff is rude and didn't acknowledge Bonvoy status as they're supposed to. The worst thing about this hotel is how it's designed. Rather than have a window, you have sliding glass doors leading to a walkway overlooking the downstairs bar and lobby. To say it was loud is a major understatement. People yelling downstairs and in the hallway every night of our 3 nights here. Parking was also terrible here. They seem to cater more to events than the guests staying at high nightly rates. There aren't a lot of hotels in the area, but I suggest you drive a few extra miles and skip this one. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My friends and I stayed at this hotel for a wedding. We got back late from the wedding and instantly noticed how dirty our room was when we walked in. There were even period stains on the sheets. It was so bad one of us decided to get another room. I took pictures of everything and sent it to the manager, walid awad. He apologized and said that never should have happened. He then offered me Marriot points for a free 1 night stay at another Marriot. I received 12k points. It gets better though! You can't use these points until you stay at another Marriott. What he also did not tell me is that a basic room at even the most basic Marriot hotel is at a minimum 50k points. The hot water on our floor was broken. Worst of all, they checked in new guests and GAVE THEM KEYS TO OUR ROOM. Yes, strangers were able to access our room while we were in there (this was not the day of our checkout), and the front desk never apologized. We contacted both Marriott and the property to report the issues and never received a resolution or even acknowledgment of the serious security issues we encountered. Stay anywhere else!! read more

I had a great experience! Love how the hotel is focused around the pool. The pool was cold but I believe it's because the entire ceiling etc is glass surrounding it, didn't matter to my kids they loved it. The manager (mehmat I think) was beyond helpful! My husband and I used this Marriott for our hotel block. The process leading up to the event was smooth. Our guests were able to extend their stay and the hotel honored the rate. My husband was able to check in a few hours early before the ceremony, and we arrived in the early morning. We hadn't gotten a chance to eat during our reception so I went back down to the front desk and was able to get forks and knives so we could dive into our dinner the venue boxed up for us. The room was clean and comfortable. It would've been nice if they could have offered a room upgrade since they knew it was our wedding night and we had the room block and a breakfast booked with them, but it's really fine because ultimately we were only there a few hours. We booked a private hotel breakfast buffet for our guests the following morning. The food and coffee was good. They tried to charge us for a random person who accidentally walked in before realizing it was private (he had a coffee and left- no food). They took it off the bill without too much fuss thought. I did appreciate that a hotel employee (I forgot their name unfortunately) overheard me telling my husband we were going to need to run up and grab our things before our breakfast would end and he offered to extend us for an extra hour. That really helped us out. We also visited the bar with some family members the following night and had an enjoyable time there. That space is beautiful and would be great for welcome drinks. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The Courtyard is beautifully situated with a sparkling swimming pool. The rooms are modern but all have two (2) luxurious queen beds. The check in desk had two knowledgeable clerks and the place was abuzz with housekeepers from just after sunrise. This is by far the WORST experience at a hotel we have ever encountered. Our family is here for a funeral and the noise at 11:49 pm is absolutely ridiculous. I have called the front desk multiple times and even with the signs posted regarding no noise between 10pm and 8 am, the REFUSE to do anything about it. There are people in the lounge yelling and carrying on and they will not ask them to leave. Not to mention they had our rooms wrong. Could have sworn I reserved 2 Queen beds but got there at 10 pm so I get what I get & don't get upset. Shower was excellent. Lighting was kind of dark, giving us a weird hook-up hotel vibe. I attended an event here in December 2019 that was without a doubt the BEST day of my life(check my celeb crush tab on my Yelp page ;]). There were no signs for the event upon entering the hotel and the staff didn't seem to know where it was or even about it. When I approached the bar and asked the bartender, he had no idea but said there was a bunch of women off to the side. I knew that was the one. The area was open and spaces for pretty much everyone(30 women) to sit. The area was well-lit which was good for picture/video taking. After the event, about 12 of us got dinner. The restaurant moved tables together so we could all sit together. The wait staff was attentive. Despite requesting 11 checks, there were no mistakes. The BBQ burger I had was excellent. read more

Nothing special here. Stayed here for a wedding. The design is so weird here. Parking lot is way out and very poorly lit. Front desk staff was nice enough. We got in very late on a Thursday for a Friday wedding. Thirsty and tired we went up to our room which was situated pretty far away from the elevator. We got to the room and there was no microwave for the snacks we brought for in between meals. We were pretty thirsty and there was no water in the room. We found out on the day we left that you have to ask front desk for water but we had already gone to a nearby Walgreens to get a gallon of water for our stay. The kids wanted to jump in the pool at some point but it was closed on the only day we had to hang out for a bit before the wedding. The bathroom door didn't lock in our room. The closet doors swing open and are so close to the bathroom door that if the closet door is open, you can't get out of the bathroom. It was quite an underwhelming stay for the prices they charge and for such a big name hotel. What we did like were the seating areas in the lobby, the elevator and the plants and wide open space with the skylights. read more

Still worthy of a 4 star rating as the place has character, a large area for hanging out with comfortable conversation seating, a great restaurant, and the rooms have gone through the Marriott upgrades. The rooms are comfortably spacious, bedding is fantastic, and the new showers are fantastic! The one thing regarding the Marriott upgrades I'm not a fan of is the removal of room carpeting and installation of wood laminate flooring. read more

We had a 50-room wedding block at the Melville Marriott in June 2024. The experience could not have been more negative from start to finish. The hotel sales staff wouldn't expand our room block months out from the wedding because a Cricket World Cup came up the same weekend as our wedding and they hiked the room prices from ~$230 to over $600 a night. Our wedding guests were getting priced gouged after the hotel said expanding our initial block would be no problem. The hotel sales manager also promised the lobby bar would stay open until 2am on a Friday night, but the bar shut down before 1am with no explanation. The hotel manager then started threatening to call the police if guests didn't immediately leave the hotel bar. A total overreaction to a misunderstanding caused by the hotel. Also every guest seemed to have room key issues that couldn't be fixed and guests were stranded outside their rooms. The final straw was when my husband requested a late check out in the morning and was rudely denied when other guests at the same counter were granted late checkouts without issue. He did explain he was the groom of a wedding that had a room block from the night before, but the answer was the same. The entire experience was so unprofessional and disrespectful. Our wedding guests all seemed to have different horror stories related to this hotel. Worst decision we made. read more

The issue I had as well as many of the other family & friends that stayed here for a wedding on the weekend of Aug 11th is everyone said the A/C was not cold enough. Good thing it was not a hot & humid weekend! My BIGGEST issue is that my daughter also stayed here and had a reservation for a room with 2 QUEEN beds and even had that on her reservation form. When the 3 of them went to the room there was 1 bed & an old worn out sleeper sofa with DIRTY SHEETS!!!. She went back to the desk and they had no resolution but to provide her with a free breakfast (already had a wedding brunch that day) and gave her 5000 points which she will never use. Not sure how a large corporate hotel can take your money for a room and not fulfil their end of the bargain. read more

This review is for the restaurant in the hotel. May 29th, 2021- I walked in to order an All American Breakfast, to go. I actually had to find a menu myself and then flag down someone to order. I figured i would have to wait about 10-15 minutes. Nope. Try 40 minutes for a meal consisting of a couple of eggs, toast, bacon and home fries. I was so hungry i ended up eating at the bar. The food was COLD COLD COLD. Cold eggs, Cold home fries. Everything cold. Unacceptable. How do you screw up something so simple. $21 for a crappy meal that typically costs $10 at most. Horrible experience. I arrived at the hotel for Christmas. As a disabled veteran. Served my country proudly for 16 yrs. I figured get a comfortable hotel room to stay in for the first time home for the holidays in 4 yrs. I was placed in a room that appeared to be a nice room. Other then the fact that it had what looked like patio sliding doors going out onto a hallway. I suffer from ptsd. I asked for a room change because I was not comfortable with that room. I was told I could grab my bags. And come down and get a new key card for another room. When I came downstairs I heard snickering which ceased as soon as I turned the corner. I explained that I could not get my own bags and carry them from the 3rd floor to 1st floor. Due to the fact that I have a combat related disability. I have a prosthetic right leg. And limited use of my right arm. They sent a bellman to assist me. When I got to the new room. The bellman didn't understand why they gave me the room they did. I decided to take a nap before dinner. I pulled back the sheets. And saw a black speck. Scary. I decided to use my phone and investigate further. BED BUGS. I called the front desk and they said the sheets were freshly clean. I called them on bullshit. They dismissed it. Never came to replace the sheets. Absolutely horribly disgusting hotel. BED BUGS beware. Don't be distracted by the fancy looking lobby. If you are in the area, definitely stay in this hotel! Everything was just perfect except the chairs that were in the little tv room in the suite. Not very comfortable to sit and watch a football game and eat chinese and the light fixture above our heads bothered the part of my brain that needs things to be symmetrical. Ok, the light fixture issue is a "me" problem so i'm not going to take away any stars. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were friendly and the bed was amazingly comfortable. After being spoiled at 2 different Four Seasons Hotel in Hawaii for our honeymoon this Melville Marriott was looking a little shabby. In fact, the first night we got back to our room my husband said "hey, where's our turn down service?" Yep, back to the real world... While the amenities weren't up to the Four Seasons standards this Marriott was very convenient for us this past weekend. We were in Long Island for a family wedding and both the rehearsal dinner (blackstone) and wedding (the hamlet) were a few minutes away. And the Walt Whitman mall was pretty close as well so we were able to make a trip there for a little shopping/grooming. This hotel is absolutely huge- I think there were about 5 wedding party blocks there just this past weekend! After 48 hours there I still couldn't find my way to my room. Like most Marriott Hotels they did have an adequate gym with TVs on the machines (always a nice tough) and the breakfast buffet was edible. I'd stay here again if in the area for business or if we got another good room rate for a wedding block, but not a hotel I'd be interested in vacationing at in the future. read more

Not near food or coffee shops. The desk clerk didn't scan our cards and had us on the far side of the 4th floor. Wife had to walk all the way back to the desk and get lectured not to put the cards near electronics. We had the cards in our hands THE WHOLE time. They forgot to service the room. We called and they said they would. Got back that night and no service. I had to go back to the desk and ask for clean towels. I ate their breakfast buffet assuming it was included like Hyatt. You have to have a Marriott membership so 2 pieces of coffee cake and a cup of coffee cost me $28! This place is the drizzling sh*ts! read more
