Everyone is helpful, friendly and courteous. The young men who work there are always respectful. They were all obviously raised right. Just like you'd expect from a small town hardware store. Kenneth has been the standout. I've purchased a couple of Stihl power tools and Kenneth went out of his way to get them registered with the manufacturer for me. He's always friendly and helpful whenever I have an issue with them. He's beyond patient. He never makes me feel foolish even when I bring in a tool after I've done something lame brained. He's an excellent teacher. He's very good with explaining things. I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather go than Guthrie's here in Chapel Hill. The service is outstanding.

I've driven by this place many times, but finally decided to stop in since I needed plants and flowers for my spring garden--and I'm glad I did. Their garden center was fully stocked with a beautiful selection, and everything looked healthy and well cared for. The staff really knew their stuff too, which made the whole experience even better and the pricing was better than many bigger chain hardware stores. The event itself was fantastic. They had free food samples during a grilling demo that were so generous it felt more like a full meal. There was even a live radio station broadcasting on-site, which gave it a fun, community vibe. And having Bri's Homemade Ice Cream there was the perfect touch--her ice cream was absolutely delicious. What really stood out is that this place is so much more than just a hardware store. Their grill selection is impressive, along with everything you could possibly need to go with it. It's clear they've created a space that's both practical and enjoyable to visit. This was my first time stopping in, but it definitely won't be my last. Highly recommend checking them out--especially during one of their events!

I purchased a shop vac from another location and as I entered to do a return I was told they hadn't…read morecarried that brand in years (Craftsman). I had just purchased it a few days earlier down the road at another ACE. They reluctantly honored my return and explained that they were all individually owned and don't carry the same assortment. As I walked around I couldn't help but notice that they indeed did carry the same brand and model that I purchased. In fact, it's the only brand they carried. I guess the only thing they are out of is patience and understanding for their customers. I will obviously shop elsewhere.

In addition, they do the sweetest things for our local community, including an annual CHRISTMAS arts and crafts for children, a local dinner to say Thank You for shopping with them over the years (it was open to the public), the lovely koi pond out front that we visit regularly, and so many more ways they support our hometown. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them as the FIRST OPTION when looking for all your hardware and home needs. NOTE: We moved here during the flood in May of 2010. They and other local businesses helped so many families during that time. I've never forgotten and am still appreciative to Harpeth True Value and the others.

The sign said they would be back at 12:45, it's now 1pm and no one is here. No less than 15 cars have pulled into the parking lot and tried the door before seeing the sign. As a business owner being closed during everyone's lunch break is wild! But losing out on 15+ sales seems like a really poor business model. We want to support y'all but can't say I will try this again.

Skip the wasted trip and drive to Home Depot. Items I wanted to pick up today, that were out of stock- Flag pole mounting bracket, outdoor water resistant receptacle cover (had 1 in stock, but wasn't the correct style), 3/4" copper union (had 1 in stock but I needed 2). After that I stopped looking for the other items and left.
