Marshall's has honored my warranty. I had my automobile worked on and parts were replaced. I paid extra for the warranty and I was glad I did. Eight months later, the same issue occurred. They had it fixed and back to me within a month. Nobody likes to do warranty work but they did not complain. Thank you so much. read more

THIS SHOP ISINT WORTH ANY STARS BUT AT LEAST ONE IS REQUIRED TO LEASE A REVIEW. I have done business with this shop twice for marine engines. The first time I received a 318 Engine with a badly scored cylinder in # 5 and the wrong timing chain unfit for marine service. The engine had to go back. The second time I purchased A 318 Reverse rotation engine. They used a modified rear main sealing method by polishing out the helix from the crankshaft as he didn't have the correct one for reverse rotation as Chrysler marine put the helix in the crank and not the seal as done in Ford or GM based engines. This is not approved by Chrysler Marine or Felpro gasket company and was not the sealing method he explained he would use when I spoke to Joe Horton Of Marshall Machine and authorized the charge to my credit card , again the engine had to go back. After the engine was returned I found a Rocker bar on backwards , when I called Joe he said it didn't matter. The service manual for this engine specifically states the Proper installation. After installing this engine upon initial startup it had bad blow by that is pressurizing the crankcase in spitting oil out of the dip stick sleeve and the rear main seal has a massive oil leak. The compression is well under 100 PSI exhaust port temps are 100 degrees below that of the normal running engine. The engine is useless and has to come out and worse than the bad engine I replaced . I purchased the first engine just as the new ownership had taken over in 2013 and this second engine August 2016. Marshall Machine claims his engines are bench tested before they leave his shop, That is not true. It is the consumer who is the test of these poorly rebuilt engines and it is the consumer who has to deal with all the headache afterwards. this purchase is in dispute with the credit card company and he's lying like crazy. I do not recommend this shop as the quality is below substandard and leads to major Headaches and expenses. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR , FIND A REPUTABLE SHOP THAT IS BBB AFFIALTED AND BUILDS THEM CORRECTLY. 6/12/2017 So, now after six months I have finally had chance to get this junk engine out of my boat, I have removed the rear main bearing cap to see why I had such a massive oil leak only to discover that after all the discussion and promises about how he was going to do this seal the rear main, even after taking the engine back over the seal issue to begin with I find that he completely lied to me, He used a standard rotation crankshaft and that was the cause of this massive oil leak. If you look closely at the seal you will find the helix grooves in the crankshaft are set for standard rotation engine. This guy promised me he used the correct crank! Also this engine had such poor compression I had to put a bar on the flywheel bolts to loosen the balancer bolt and flywheel bolts as the engine spun over with no resistance. HE IS A LIAR AND A SCAM ARTIST who does spray can rebuilds. I HAVE A GOOD MIND TO SUE HM FOR ALL MY EXPENCES. read more

Below is an email I sent to Craig's List legal department, local media and the companies web designer: I would like to inform you that back on June 25, 2012 I purchased a 3.0L Mercruiser marine engine from a company that advertized through Craig's List and it has been nothing but trouble from day one. I received the engine on July 25, 2012 only to find out it was the WRONG engine (ruining my families vacation as the engine was for my families boat which was a vital part of our vacation). I informed Freddy Marshall (owner of Marshall's Automotive Machine Shop, Inc. who I have dealt with exclusively) approx an hour after it arrived that he had sent the wrong engine. Obviously at that point there was nothing that could be done to correct the situation so my family & I went on vacation without our boat and made the best of it. When I came home from vacation I decided people make mistakes and contemplated cancelling the whole thing but agreed that he would send the correct engine. That was the second week in August and today is November 7, 2012 and I still have NO ENGINE, do you know what he has ... MY $1200.00!! Since then he has had his shipping company pick up the incorrect engine on September 9, 2012 and return it to him ..... I still have nothing. I have contacted Freddy Marshall several times via phone and texting (texting mainly to establish a paper trail with a date & time stamp) and have gotten ZERO response. I realize there is probably nothing you can do but I thought it was extremely important to inform you and you're potential customers about who they are dealing with in hopes to prevent another customer having $1200.00 stolen from them not to mention the extreme amount of stress and aggravation this has put on my family & I. Bottom line is this has been mishandled from day one being given an inaccurate delivery date to it has been 5 months since all of this started of which he has had 4 months to make it right and I still have nothing but the loss of $1200.00. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MARSHALL'S!!! I paid over $3000 to have him rebuild a motor. I had it a few weeks and the car broke down, had to be towed. The motor had to be replaced. He fixed it, it broke down again, another tow bill. He had it for SIX MONTHS and the car was leaking oil when he left it in my driveway. The car was on the road for 2 weeks and I had to have it towed again. It is now a $6500 lawn ornament because my husband refuses to deal with Marshall's again. read more

It was going to cost $3000 to get a junk yard v10 with 100,000 miles and only a 90 day warranty for my truck. For just $800 more i got a fresh v10 with no miles and a 4 year warranty! It was a no brainer. It was done fast and they dropped it off to my house while i was working. So far I couldn't be happier. I have only had it back for 2 weeks but so far its doing great! I have been without my car for over a year now waiting for them to make good on an engine I purchased from them. Initially it took a couple months for them to deliver it because they kept putting the wrong pistons in the block. When the engine was finally delivered, it failed after just 200 miles, from a major oil leak caused by a failed front seal due to a vibration in the crankshaft.. The engine was shipped back for warranty repair and after four months, and intervention by the Better Business Bureau and The States Attorney General Consumer Protection division. it was returned and installed again. It failed immediately upon being started, with the exact same issues. They have agreed to replace the engine with another remanufactured long block and it has now been nearly four months wait. I have have now spent more in labor costs to install the engines than the engines themselves and they refuse to cover any of that expense even though they have sent faulty engines that should have been tested before shipping. They also will refuse to answer phone calls and emails. Just want everyone in Maine considering using this firm for their engine work to think again, and to check the Maine Better Business Bureau website where there are a number of complaints posted similar to mine about this company. Actually rating this company as a one star is too much. As a business owner it's tough to buy a product and not have it backed up. Having to put up with a bunch of bs after the sale really stinks. This company in my eyes is just hanging on. No one in there right mind should ever purchased a engine from them. 4 yr 40,000 mile warranty. Ya BS again. Our engine has 22 miles ,burns oil, 1/2 to 3/4 quart oil in 22 miles. Has a coolant leak from rear of engine which requires removing the motor again. After my heated phone call and having Joe Horton I believe his name is said he was doing me a favor and was going to repair the issue by pulling the engine and repairing the problem. He said if the engine had 3000 miles on it ,he wouldn't even consider helping. People pls understand there warranty before you purchase. Our issue is a workmanship issue I feel . I proceeded to bring the vehicle to there facility,to have Joe honor his favor and repair the issue.After getting there I felt in the best interest of my customer ,to return back to our facility with the vehicle.Joe was on the phone again ,I'm sure with a upset customer ,it sure sounded that way. He said he was eight weeks behind ,I'm sure prob repairing a lot of issues. The place is definately not professional and is a complete mess. People save ur money and frustration . Spend a bit more and get warranties. Would hate anyone to be out of town and have one of there engines have a issue and not have any type of recourse. I decided to purchase a motor from another company,which was not a lot more ,I can rest knowing if my customer is 3000 miles away I can a least assit them with a warranty. read more
