Rude! What happened to customers service??! Teach your employees how to properly wrap stuff, so it doesn't break, not just like they are wrapping a garbage can. And if customer bought a heavy item, don't ask them to pay for an extra bag! Are u insane??? I was asked for additional 7 cents after transaction was complete and I asked for a different bag, cuz nothing was properly wrapped . You are supposed to give them as many as needed to hold that item. Its not a customer fault your bags are that thin and cheaply made. Especially after you are letting homeless and criminals just walk out with a bunch of merchandise. Treat a paying customer right and stop acting like you own a store. Or should I just use my credit card for 7 cents??? And definitely don't give a paying customer attitude for no reason knowing that's your fault and especially not for 7 cents. First, I've been going to this place since it opened. I'm never disappointed. The difference between this Marshalls and the one on Ontario & Michigan is that it's smaller. As a result, you don't get the massiveness & selection. But, you get to browse without the crowds and the very, very long checkout lines where the cashiers can't help but need more time to be more pleasant. This past week I went to Marshalls on Clark & Halsted and found everything I was looking for, my returns were accepted without a hitch and my cashier, Maya, could not have been nicer. Very covid friendly with dividers between cashiers, leaving enough personal space for each shopper. The downside is fitting rooms are still currently closed which make clothes shopping almost impossible. This location is decent If you're looking to boredom shop. If you're someone whose squeamish about elevators, stir clear of this store and probably the building during near closing hours. I made the mistake of going in for a causal shopping experience on a Sunday evening. I take full responsibility for not checking the store hours before walking in at 6:50p. The store closes at 7:00p. After picking up a couple of items, I headed to the register at 7:00p. The only way out of this store is the elevator once they've closed. I got stuck in the check out line as the store was closing. Once I checked out at 7:06p, the gates were locked at the escalator entrance and you have to take the elevator out of the building. For security purposes, this makes sense; however, the anxiety involved in waiting for the elevator, sharing it with multiple people [while in the height of Omicron], having an employee come over to be sure I was leaving...it's just a lot. Moral of the story, shop and leave long before the gate drops on this store. read more

This Marshall's is the most well-stocked location in the city of Chicago. The organizations are WAY better than the one in downtown (well, that used to be Marshall's; now it's TJ Maxx). They have real sales associates working, instead of just passing by and acting busy. I went to find a "man's bag" for myself (I've been borrowing my husband's Kenneth Cole canvas bag and refused to return it back to him until I buy myself a new one). Nevertheless, the prices were a bit too high and my budget was under $100. I will recommend this location though because they do have quality, designer merchandize here, as what they've been advertising on TV and radio. Marshall's is a great budget store which is in a great location of East Lakeview. The store is located on the second floor of this multi store complex. I have noticed, one of the escalators are not always working. The store, itself, is very well planned out. To make a long story short, it's a hit or miss store. The customer service is not the greatest - very few workers are on the floor to assist guest. Plan to stand in line for awhile when checking out. Take it or leave it store. read more

Wanted to drive here and buy some large items and couldn't find any thorough parking reviews. So here it is, a review on their parking and then some. There is street parking of course but it's on busy Clark near an even busier intersection, between Belmont and Halsted. If you don't like holding up traffic or having 100 people watching you parallel park, there is a parking ramp with 2 levels. Completely free. The turn going up is kind of tight so go slow, unless you're Jason Statham. Visited in early December and there seemed to be plenty of parking and you're not crammed in there so don't worry about backing into anyone. Elevator takes you down to Marshall's and then Michael's and then DSW's. Most other reviews are right in that the overall selection is limited and the store is smaller than average Marshall's but you're usually going for bargains and gifts and there are plenty of those there. read more

This shopping complex is great because there is free parking, however this Marshalls lacks a large variety of stuff, and the store is alot smaller than other Marshalls I have been to. I usually love shopping at Marshalls because I can always find cute, affordable, clothing, and can spend hours in the store because there is so much stuff to look at. ... not at this one.. don't come here expecting tons of clothing. I wanted to get a french press or a Moka stovetop espresso maker, and they only had 2 regular coffeemakers.. perhaps they had shipped out all their home good items to home goods. I was kind of disappointed in that section, because I can usually find all sorts of coffee making goodies. They do have some nice designer brands like James Perse etc, but other than that I did not see anything worth perusing in this store. read more

This particular Marshalls isn't as big as others and doesn't sell jewelry, not even costume/trendy stuff! I was hoping to find a new, decent quality statement necklace on my most recent visit and was disappointed. I did walk away with some fun, bright blue ruffled Cynthia Rowley pillows for my couch! They are very Anthropologie-esque, but a fraction of the cost! Another recent awesome find: Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! four piece perfume set (perfume, shower gel, lotion and roller ball) for $39. The bottle is the large 3.4oz size which retails for $88 by itself! Okay, so the box was pretty beat up and someone swapped the shower gel for another lotion, but I rarely use scented bath stuff anyway. Also, the usage you see in the photo is from me wearing this nonstop. This was a surprising find among the numerous, boring celebrity scents. I also saw some cute MBMJ iPhone cases for $20, but alas, I have a Galaxy S4. :( Why you gotta tease me like that, Marshalls?! Overall, this is a decent Marshalls for home goods and some clothing and beauty products. I've bought a lot of workout/yoga gear and a few trendy pieces from here. Normally I love Marshalls/TJ Maxx. This one also has bonuses in that there is parking and a DSW and a Michael's in the same (3 story) building. Disappointed in this trip as my shopping companion had to use the men's room. It stank of urine, had a syringe cap lying on the floor, toilet paper strewn everywhere and best of all, no handosap. Honestly, I've been to better Marshalls. This place doesn't have a lot of items that I expect to see at Marshalls. I went to go pick up a winter coat in January and there were none. When I asked if they were going to get any more coats - the cashier told me, "winter is almost over - so no." The entire city was prepping for a severe snowstorm coming that very weekend. And then a few weekends later, was the Polar Vortex. lol Soooo..... about that "winter is over" bit....lol But that's ok, it was just a funny thing to say. The bathrooms were awful - so I recommend holding it or finding someplace else to go. Items were also strewn all over the racks and floors - so that wasn't pleasant. I'll probably go back - if I just want to have some place to pick up some things for the house - but this place definitely won't be my first choice if I can go to another location. read more

This is the one just south of Clark and Belmont upstairs above the Linens and Things and the DSW. I still always stop in here after going shoe shoppping, but haven't bought anything in years. For men's dress and casual clothes, I used to love Marshalls and bought dress shirts every other week. You can't beat finding things like designer dress shirts for $14. But this location really went downhill a few years ago and has never recovered. The men's department is always in complete disarray. The size markers on the racks mean nothing. And most of the best items are either on the floor, or one of the store clerks is in the middle of trying the last one in your size on. Try Filene's instead. read more

I have visited this Marshalls store twice since moving to Chicago a few weeks ago. Each time, the sales associates have been friendly and the store was organized-- despite having so much merchandise kept on a smaller floor-space. During a particularly busy time (Labor Day), I made the stupid mistake of leaving a (rather expensive) return item I had previously purchased somewhere on the floor while shopping for other goods. After looking for an hour, I gave up. The fitting room personnel noticed I was upset and asked if she could help me with something. I informed her of my situation, and she immediately explained to me what the store protocol may be and had me leave my information and goods description in the front, with a manager, who she also had alerted. Even in the chaos, my item was FOUND, and they phoned me immediately. I was able to come back, make the return, and exchange for goods I needed without any problem! Thank you to Marshalls and the entire helpful staff which included the fitting room attendant, the manager, the associate who found my return item, and the sales clerk. I did find a pink, size 4 Calvin Klein dress that makes me look like the cute TMobile girl, and a spray that will make Baby Beagle smell like a sugar cookie... Win, win? Not quite. This place is dirty, disorganized and yet not quite discounted enough to wade thru the chaos! The long-term dedication of the women with children amazes me- I imagine it must be a draconian form of discipline like this: Mom: "Be good Junior or we'll go shopping for endless hours in a dirty store full of Ed Hardy with no breaks for food, water, video games or television to a neglected early '90s soundtrack..." Junior: "Can't you just beat me and send me to military school?" On that note, The fitting rooms SCARE me. I'm pretty into this location. Weekends is a big NO cuz it's messy and crowded. Trust me, I had to go exchange a bowl there on a sunday. Ick. Not fun. On my first visit ever at this location, I was only planning on buying a slip to wear under skirts but came out with so much more. Not clothes though.. It's all pretty ugly here. Shopping at Marshall's can pretty much be hit or miss. You really have to search and spend some time going through the racks. But in the end you can really find some good deals. I would suggest if you have some time to go through every size if you are looking through the clothes because it is so disorganized that if you can't find your size where it supposed to be...chances are you'll find it somewhere in the mess that is Marshall's. read more

Today, after about 45 minutes, I spied a wonderful wool jacket to replace on old, pigskin truckstop fashion atrocity. I spent $60 and look like a million bucks in this new wrap, and I threw the truckstop atrocity in the garbage on my way out. Go Marshall's! read more

OK - I hate giving 1 star reviews - but I feel this is warranted, and I hope the senior management of Marshall's gives this store some more labor! I went in here a few weeks ago, on a Sunday afternoon to pick up some white undershirts. The minute I walked in, I wanted to walk out. My observations: 1. The store was literally a wreck. 2. 10 minute wait to check out. 3. Staff- nowhere. This store is so busy that the corporate office should give them some more support. This review is specifically for the three outstanding employees who I observed handle a ridiculous situation today. A woman brought her dog in the store, let it diarrhea all over the floor, looked at one of the employees as though it was his job to clean it up, and then left. What. The man promptly blocked off the area with a cart and warned all customers to stay away while his two colleagues came to help clean. They were speedy, didn't complain, and should NOT have had to deal with this. I hid out in the frames section to observe. Hi from the blonde girl in teal shorts with the cart of pillows. Aside from this, I've always recieved great service here, the store is organized and clean, and the woman who rang me up today helped bag and fold all my towels so they fit in one bag as opposed to just throwing them in like garbage. This is the worst Marshall's ever. Even though it's further from me since we moved, I will be making the treck to Evanston to go to the one next to Sam's Club from here on out. This place is filthy. The floors are filthy. The ladies' room was LITERALLY COVERED IN POOP. I took one look and decided to just hold it until we left. The horror... It's also insanely disorganized. One rack was sectioned into just "XL" then "XS" then "XL" again. Other sections had multiple places where different sizes were supposedly grouped together. Except that most of the time the hangers and the sections lie. Most of the XL sections were all M's. There were no Junior's dresses. After 10 minutes of shopping, I was exhausted and just wanted to leave. My friend and I talked ourselves into trying on what we'd found, despite not really wanting to. The woman working the fitting rooms seemed SUPER pissed off that we'd bothered her for something as ridiculous as a number and a room. She was dismissive, curt, and didn't once look at either of us. Sorry we made you do your job. We're just the worst. I would say literally go to any other Marshall's for your "shopportunity". read more

Like any other Marshall's on planet earth, it's completely hit or miss. Lately however, it seems to be more miss than hit. I've saved tons of money here against going to Sports Authority across the street, but it totally depends on the day. The store is upstairs and is pretty good sized. They have shoes, a huge women's section, luggage, pet items, dress clothes, athletic gear, and much more. The racks are actually surprisingly organized in the Men's section, even though at times it can look quite messy. You really need to dig through the racks to find what you're looking for and you need to have patience at this location, as the lines can get very long. The staff is helpful for the most part on the floor. It's usually pretty easy to find a team member who can point you in the right direction. The cashiers aren't the friendliest people on earth, but who can blame them. Overall, it's definitely worth stopping in if you want to save some money. Just understand it's completely hit or miss, and you might need to dig around before you find what you're looking for. Also, they have a decent sized parking garage that they share with DSW. There's also generally some street parking right out front. read more

I love this store so much! I have a habit of coming to this store at random intervals and getting lost in my explorations. I usually bolt to the housewares section and get lost. I love looking through all the wonderful items. I've found some great things--I now have a great set of pans and some fantastic kitchen gadgets! I love it! I have also looked around and found some other good items! A phone case! Button up shirts! Belts! Pillows! I love finding great things here! This is a great store. There are some problems with organization (as in, it feels like you're in a discount store), and the check-out line is often annoying... Ultimately, it's a wonderful store, but you need to be on the hunt to find the great items. Take your time and you'll find tons of amazing things! read more

The people who work there are miserable and not afraid to dump their misery on you. I have yet to experience any good customer service here. I am a huge fan of Marshall's and I can never enter this store without finding several things I didn't know I needed. There's incredible value in almost every department, and I really like to shop here for workout clothes in particular. Kitchenware is also nice. I find that I often pass over the shoe section because hey, DSW is downstairs and this selection is much smaller, but sometimes it really pays to look - I got a super discounted pair of leather Kenneth Cole boots here whereas similar styles were much more expensive at DSW. Also, Marshall's inventory unsurprisingly changes a lot from week to week so this is the sort of place where if you have time before you need to buy something (i.e. new towels, a jacket, etc), it can really pay off to make a few brief visits here to come back and find exactly what you're looking for at a great price. Downside: it is disorganized as heck, which is part of the reason perusing randomly can be such a jackpot/bust dichotomy. If you ask a staff member if they have a certain item, they are likely to look confused and say vague, unhelpful things until you wander away to go find the item on your own. OR, they'll tell you that they definitely don't have said item and you find it anyway because you are a resourceful hunter. read more

I agree with the other posts on service. I've had some great finds here (awesome lamp for $69, Ugg mocassins for $30), but sometimes while I'm waiting in line to check out, I wonder if it's really worth it. The workers are all unfriendly and act like they hate their lives. They talk to one another instead of checking people out and then act mad when you walk up to the counter. Last time I was in there were 2 people actually checking people out, and 4 workers talking amongst themselves while I was the 7th person in line. Ridiculous. Everytime I'm there I tell myself I really should call the 1-800# to complain. read more

Where do I go when I want to buy inexpensive housewares? Marshalls, of course. I was looking for a little non-stick pan to make my eggs in the morning and they had just the perfect size -for $10. I like that they have well known brands and they are so much cheaper than other department stores. I also like that the merchandise is pretty consistent regardless of which location you visit! Marshalls and the affiliated sister companies have my vote for good merchandise at really cheap prices! read more
