It's nice to have a train to traverse the city. I've been to Atlanta several times, and I have ridden the Marta plenty. This station wasn't that crowded. You do see some sketch people, but I didn't feel unsafe. I do recommend traveling with companions if you can. We came when it was out, so they have cooling fans around the stations. Some areas are definitely not clean. I recommend not touching things if you can help it. read more

MARTA'S Midtown Station is a very busy station that serves the Red and Gold Lines. This station is completely sheltered inside, one level down from the street level. Upon entering through the gates at the street level, riders will go downstairs using stairs, elevator or escalator. The waiting/loading areas are on the trains' right side only. This station can get really smelly on hot days. Employees keep this station relatively clean, though, and the station has adequate lighting. If you don't mind walking, MARTA Midtown Station is within walking distance from points of interest, such as Margaret Mitchell House, Georgia Tech, Piedmont Park, Atlanta Botanical Garden and lots of shops, restaurants and hotels. as a native New Yorker transplanted in ATL, I *really* want MARTA (or as I call her, "MARTHA") to succeed. Atlanta city is growing like gangbusters but we don't have public transport to match that unprecedented growth, not even close. I had just missed the southbound-airport train and had to wait *18 minutes* for the next one. that is a commuter-train interval, not a big-city, vibrant subway-type service. and we need to talk honestly about how it falls short of Atlanta's need for reliable rail. More specific to the station: I find this location stodgy, smelly and VERY dated. Midtown is a hub of tourism, business and other travel and it should be a statement of our fabulousness--not stuck in the 1980s. just my 2 cents. read more

The tran ride was amazing and a new experience for myself and my youngest daughter. Well, it was her idea to take a ride on the tran. We traveled from downtown, Atlanta to the outer skirts of the city. Once we got further out of the inner city the view was nice and very different from the inner city. Once my daughter realized we were no longer on the ground she freaked out... lol Well she's afraid of heights! I will say that it was a completely different ride from the Mata buses here at home. Over all it was a great experience and the accessibility of touring the city without having to walk as much. read more

Worst MARTA station of all. Our train randomly stopped for 30 minutes here with no explanation or announcement, and the doors were still closed so we were packed like sardines in a stinky and sweaty train. It's a no for me. read more

This Marta Station holds a special place in my heart. It's where I caught the Georgia Tech Trolley for many years during my time at Georgia Tech. Sometimes the elevator works; sometimes it's doesn't. But regardless, this stop puts you within great range of places to eat and shop. read more

Late on a weeknight, the elevator was not working but the stairs were fine. Cameras mounted on each corner gave a feeling of safety even if that was all in my mind. The station is clean and somewhat reasonably lit. Midtown is on the Red/Gold line that goes north and south through Atlanta. It is between North Avenue (towards the airport) and Arts Center (towards North Springs/Doraville). It is not an island platform, with separate platforms and the train doors open on the right. read more

Midtown Station is my second-most used station after my "home" station of Chamblee. It's been super-convenient, since especially Midtown can be a beast during pretty much anytime during the week or weekend when trying to find parking. Its convenience and perk of being at the center of virtually everything walkably Midtown, I've told many a person coming to Midtown (especially Gay Midtown, which is almost literally outside the threshold) to take MARTA here. Across the street from the Federal Reserve and Museum (and graciously, Midtown Atlanta has flashing alert crosswalks for the event one needs to cross 10th Street), its bulk is mainly underground. The parts that are above ground are the entrances/exits for either north- or southbound tracks on the museum side of 10th Street, and the main 10th Street entrance on the other side. The former seems to have less use, and the couple of times I've used it, it seems rather indirect; crossing 10th Street and just entering the station on the other side seems/feels/possibly is more efficient. The "main" entrance, has a few MARTA Breeze Card machines and stairs to the north- and southbound Red/Gold lines. The station has, what I call because I've rarely used that side, a "secondary" entrance on Peachtree Place, across the street from the Dancing Goats Coffee Bar. This entrance, though, is a lot more spacious and even has a few art pieces above and around it. Even though 10th Street is probably the entrance with more activity, they'd really put some effort into the Peachtree Place side (I suppose partly because they have more space on that side to do it). It's via Peachtree Place that one notices the MARTA bus connections. It is a very transient station, so they keep frills few: very limited parking, no restrooms, a light/tight Kiss and Ride spot, and a couple ZipCar spaces. Since it is Midtown, they do have some bicycle parking, but even with the keep-it-moving attitude of Midtown there usually is a slowdown at the gates. Probably also due to its being very transient and light on amenities, it doesn't have the gritty feel of even my "home" station of Chamblee. One can generally only speculate why that might be. Going into the main underground station, I've found that with AT&T (and having used both an iPhone 4S and 6 Plus in it) there's pretty much zero signal as one gets more than halfway down the stairs, so come armed with on-board, no-Internet-required entertainment if your next train will not come for a little bit and you happen have AT&T as your wireless carrier. read more

It sometimes smells like pee, but honestly, what metro/train station doesn't in certain corners? I have been coming and going through the MARTA Midtown station quite a bit for the last four months or so. If you know me in real life, you may have remembered the big to-do about getting accepted with an assistantship to Georgia Tech as a master's student. Welp, the honeymoon period came and went and the divorce was finalized not too long ago. Grad school didn't stick, at least for now. And maybe forever. But I would get off at this station and hop on the Trolley to get to campus. In a strange twist of fate, after leaving school, I found a new gig and it is about 3/4 mile from where I had my classes. So sometimes, I'll park at a parking lot on the Gold line and get off at this station, where I proceed to get a bus transfer. It's all quite easy, as anxious as I was about figuring out what to do on the first day I went to work using purely public transit. There are signs everywhere to help you figure out where to go. The Midtown MARTA station is located near Georgia Tech, Piedmont Park, the bars and clubs located on and around Crescent Avenue (e.g. Opera, CosmoLava, Front Page News, Ri Ra), and the shops and restaurants near Peachtree and 10th Streets (e.g. RA Sushi, Empire State South, Hudson Grille, Taco Mac). It's a good 10-15 minute walk to most of these destinations from Midtown station. If you're headed to Georgia Tech, you can use either the Midtown or North Ave. station. If you're headed to McCamish Pavilion (basketball coliseum) or Russ Chandler Stadium (baseball field), use Midtown station. If you're headed to Bobby Dodd Stadium (football coliseum) or the administrative offices in/around Tech Tower, use North Ave. station. Georgia Tech provides a free shuttle service (Tech Trolley) from Midtown Station to Tech campus. The frequency of shuttles to the MARTA station depends on the semester, day, and time of day. Check out Tech's web site for more details on the Tech Trolley schedule (http://pts.gatech.edu/ride/routes_schedules/Pages/TechTrolley.aspx). The shuttle stops on the south side of the station (Peachtree Place) and generally picks up every 15-36 minutes. Midtown station has two entrances on either side of 10th St, so you don't have to cross the street (and jaywalk) from above. The only parking spots available are "kiss and ride" (pick-up/drop-off) spots. However, if you're willing to risk it, you can park for free in the Plaza Midtown parking deck. Plaza Midtown is the collection of shops, restaurants, and condos located on Peachtree Place, one block west of the MARTA station. It has a Publix and Marlow's Tavern. read more

For those who have to map it here is the correct address: 41 10th St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 between Peachtree and West Peachtree Street in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. My Uber driver got off course when I used the yelp address. I had never been here before so that sucked. I like that this station has parking for pick up and drop off so you don't have to pull up on the side of the road. It has a cross walk too so that you can go from one side to the other. Prices (save your MARTA plastic breeze card and save a $1) Otherwise the prices are an extra dollar for buying the card then loading your trip. One way Trip (Free Transfers) $2.50 Round Trip (Free Transfers) $5.00 1-Day Pass (Unlimited Rides) $9.00 2-Day Pass (Unlimited Rides) $14.00 Trains come by every 5 minutes on weekdays and 10 minutes on nights and weekends. If you have never used MARTA, do it! It is very easy to use. Only has 4 lines, 2 going North and South/ 2 going East and West. There are maps posted everywhere so you can double check your route while waiting for the train or on it. I make my out of town guests take it for the first time, all the time and never have problems. Don't take the bus- this is nothing like MARTA, the drivers have even admitted to my friends that they don't follow a schedule at all. read more

One of my favorite MARTA stations - also very busy. I like that it has an entrance in two different roads and especially like the frequent GT shuttle stops. I also like the Big Ass Fans... The only negative is the lack of signal on my smart phone, but I've heard that WIFI will soon be available. read more

We have no other rail options in Atlanta. It does not go EVERYWHERE but it gets me from North Atl (Roswell) to Midtown in 20ish minutes. Occasionally you will feel uncomfortable with certain less than ideal riders (smelly folk, mentally ill fork talking loudly or behaving a bit off, people carrying so much they are swinging all the bags into your face, the idiot who speak loudly while on their cell). My suggestion is that if you are just feeling crammed/annoyed, get off that car on the next stop and switch. You may have better luck, or worse! I was dealing with some obnoxious white man that decided to start making some sort of rap about a bicycle. He would shout and tap and then engaged with a rider who brought his bicycle into the car, carrying on a very loud and boring discussion about a bike frame. So once the doors opened, I took my ass out and jumped in the next car. Problem solved...for that instance. read more

The thing about public transportation is that there is always room for improvement. I'm just glad that MARTA offers an alternative to dealing with ATL traffic and the lack of parking in Midtown is a nightmare of endless circling around. MARTA is usually my preferred form of transportation whenever I'm wanting to go out in Midtown. The station isn't too far of a walk from all of the restaurants, bars, and clubs which is overall really convenient. read more

My biggest gripe about this station is the entrance near the Federal Reserve Bank. It seems to me the purpose of building these two tunnels was to prevent people from having to cross 10th Street to get to the station. So why are they closed on evenings and weekends?? And why did they add a crosswalk in the middle of the street when all they had to do was open the gates here?? Clearly I need to get a job doing urban planning because I'm a genius, right? I use this entrance more than the main station because it's closer to where my parents' house on Peachtree Walk, so I'm probably more passionate about these issues than most. When hauling luggage down to the airport you have to use the elevator, which sucks because it smells like a porta potty (fragrant chemicals masking urine, to be exact). The stairs aren't much better because the lower level is clearly used as a bathroom. Maybe that's why it's closed off sometimes. Regardless, they could do better. read more

This Marta station does just fine by me, and I'm a big fan of how convenient it's location is to the heart of Midtown. Trains also come quite frequently on either side of the platform most of the time, something that separates it from other, more far-flung stations across Marta. Back when I worked at the top of the 999 Building (located at 10th and Peachtree) and had to be there by 6:30am, I could confidently get to Midtown and my job within twenty minutes, which is impressive considering my commute from Chamblee. I also enjoy taking the train to this station and exploring the various dining options located nearby, as well as events that take place at different times of the year, like the Pride parade. read more

This is a nice, clean station that has excellent access to Georgia Tech, Margaret Mitchell house, Piedmont Park (around 3 blocks away), and lots of nice restaurants and venues on the stretch of Peachtree from 14th street through 6th street. Georgia Tech offers a free shuttle around campus called the Tech Trolley. Just look for a yellow ish bus with a Georgia Tech yellowjacket on it next to the GT symbol. There is no parking at this station but it is a very accessible location to drop people off in their kiss and ride section. Lastly, so many people complain about Marta being unsafe and such and I haven't had a problem. Would I go walking around the Bankhead station at night? No. But if you respect the people on the trains, mind your business and just be street smart like in any big city, you will be perfectly fine. I always see a police officer either on the platform or by the ticket gates at this station. It is very well lit as well. read more

A Marta transit employee came in to my store to buy something. He had the money for it but left the change he needed in his car and didn't feel like getting it so he felt the need to belittle my clerk and yell at her that she should just pay the change for him. He called it terrible customer service because this company didn't pay for something he wanted. So I think it's pretty terrible customer service that Marta isint Free. The staff is obviously terrible if this is how they all act. read more

I know that MARTA has no control over what people do once they're on the trains, but this is several days in a row of an entire car smelling like piss. marta is never smarter especially when you have drivers like nikia williams who would rather hold up the entire bus then admit the truth. i know im not the only person to notice the delays when adding funds to your card from a bus . my tap sounded for the person behind me and i got the insufficent fund note from the person in front of me . you bus drivers need to be more patient and understanding , homeless people may lie about the funds on their cards but i truly feel offended by what i went through today . i should have had a transfer or a pass back too soon. you guys are thieves !!!! read more

This train Station is so convenient in this location. It really is in the heart of Atlanta, but, it irks me to walk past the the jehova witnesses and their religious racks while they stare at everyone walking by. It's a train station not a temple, so, what are they doing in any MARTA Station peddling their brochures? Sure they don't come right out and ask for money, but, they peddle their ideas. Why them? Why does MARTA permit them to peddle? Is MARTA partial to them? And they are at more stations than just Midtown. I definitely do NOT like that happening in a place that I use almost everyday My family and friends are saying the same. I'm sure others feel this way too.
