Martha's is part of Nantucket Bakery, they are owned by the same people. it's a nice, healthy convience store. it's a bit expensive because they have such a nice building, but it's worth it. they always have awesome beer, lots of ciders, tons of wine and plenty of liquors. the cheesecake is awesome here. it's so frickin' rich but great. also, they have wine and beer tasting every friday and saturday. i've sampled some awesome fig leaf cheese. they sample sausages too, and my guy tells me they're pretty good. read more

I was directed here by a brewery to find some local beers I can't get in Illinois. I was not disappointed. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, answered my questions about what beers I could only find local and which ones where not shipped out of the state. They had a great selection and I ended up buying a bunch of six packs, some individual bottles and a four pack. If you are looking for a good selection and friendly staff. Martha's is a great neighborhood market. Deli in the back has ready to go sides, desserts, and vegan options. I like to go for their wine and chocolate selections you cannot find anywhere else. They have staples if you are out of something and don't want to go to a big box store. They also have a lot of local options to support other small businesses. I LOVE when I get a chance to stop by Martha's! Such an awesome store! The staff is SO friendly and very willing to help you with whatever questions you have, recommendations, etc. They make wine, cheese, beer, or ANYTHING buying a joy. The wine selection at Martha's is outstanding - great selection (with a TON more upstairs): every price point and variety of wine you could want. They are SO knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to wine! The have a lovely display case of cheese and meats, pre-made foods (ready to eat) that are all mouth-watering, a dessert case to make you drool, bakery items, canned items, chocolates, nuts, etc. Such a fun specialty shop when you are in the market for unique and delicious items. They have a small but nice variety of beer, ice cream, and produce, too. I have come to Martha's a few times when I had the need for gift baskets. I have created my own but they will also create one for you with whatever parameters you need (item variety, price point, etc. ) They just redid the store and the new layout is very nice and open. They have Martha's pizza next door now, which looks heavenly! Also notice a nice little Pooch Post outside the door for those walking their dogs and wanted to run in for a second. First of all they are open until midnight on Sundays - which was awesome and super convenient. The guy working was friendly and helpful. The selection of cheese was excellent and they had exactly what we were looking for. They had a very impressive deli with pre-made dishes and a huge selection of high quality wine. They also had an abundance of crackers and jams available, as well as a fairly large grocery section. Parking available right up front, pizza place attached, and prices were reasonable. Little did I realize when asking the wine guy working last night for organic wines I was asking to be mansplained into near unconciousness. Dude went on ad nauseum answering questions never asked with his opinions which veered convieniently from facts. After what felt like way too long I gave up on the several bottles I'd intended to buy, grabbed one and ran for the register, stopping at the chocolate long enough to hear the guy talking about me to a random customer. Way to be professional little wine guy! I'm in Grand Rapids for the first time visiting a friend who owns a home here. Just went for the first time this week, and I was impressed. I was short a specific bottle of wine for a tasting class, and came here to hunt it down. Easily found it, but took my time and enjoyed wandering the bottles. Staff was friendly and helpful, everyone was masked up so everything was cool there. Just a delightful trip all around. read more

If I go in and one of the ladies are working there, i am so happy because they are much more polite, kind, and helpful than ANY of the men. The ladies give me a smile and it just makes my whole day! Any time I interact with one of the guys, especially in the evening, they just look at me like they don't even understand why I'm in here and i feel judged. They don't smile, they don't wish me a good night, they look like they hate their lives and seem like they are too uppity to try to positively impact any one's life. Coming from someone who has worked in customer service for 7 years, i know exactly what I'm looking for and they definitely lack in this way. If they had more positive people there, this place would have no bounds. Now i only go if I REALLY need something ASAP but it will only be 1 item because I'm not trying to be there any longer or spend any more money than I have to. This place could be epic, but it just seems like they don't want to go the extra mile with customer interactions. Such a fail. read more

You get what you pay for- it's pricey but the staff knows what they are talking about, the quality is as good as it gets, and they have a beautiful well-curated selection of products. It's tough to decide what to get, but they will help you with that. Just ask. Try everything they make in house, and find a lot of locally made products to support. By far one of my favorite businesses in all of Grand Rapids. They are slightly pricy but you definitely get what you pay for. They carry quality wine, cheese, desserts and beer. I really like how they have deli meats and foods available as well. The service has been helpful most of the time. No specific complaints really. It's location is very prime for young adults like myself who rent nearby. They are a clean and respectable establishment that is well-known by all the locals. The wide variety of selection can be overwhelming at times so don't hesitate to ask for suggestions. There are specialty items you won't find anywhere else, like an astounding selection of different flavor bitters, including a variety of Peychaud's, our favorite. There are edgy brands of bubble water, pinkies-up cheeses, fresh produce, excellent wine and liquor choices, and to-go plates, such as meat/fruit/cheese and hummus/pita/fruit. My son lives in Brooklyn, with its endless availability of specialty stores, and he was gobsmacked at the niche type foods and products in this store. The owner, a lovely Lebanese man named Kamil is often in the store working in various areas, but frequently behind the cash register and keeping an eye on who enters. He waves, nods and says hellos across the store to nearly everyone. And he has a sharp memory for recalling who comes in and buys what types of things. He even recalls many names. It is almost as much fun observing this as it is going through the store. Martha's has the best wine selection. Peter will always know what you are looking for, even if you are not quite sure. This is a really neat store with LOTS of beer and wine and a fair liquor selection. The staff is always very friendly when you enter and always offer to help you carry your purchases out. It's a good place to get some fine cheeses and gourmet foods, but it's also a good place to grab a $4 salami sandwich on the way home from work. Plus, they're open till 12am every night. My only complaint is that their prices are all over the board. Their sandwiches and deli case foods are mostly reasonable since the food is homemade and usually pretty tasty. Their liquor prices are jacked way above the minimum price, though; much more expensive than other liquor stores in the area (to be fair, though, the only place that charges close to minimum price is Meijer). Their beer prices are mostly reasonable, but their non-clearance wines are marked WAY higher than other shops near downtown. I continue to shop there regularly, though, because it is locally owned and they carry many specialty/gourmet items, I just try to be knowledgeable about the price of what I'm buying. read more

Martha's is a step up from your local grocery store. Not only does it have eggs, milk, etc. but it has an incredible selection of wine, cheese, local beer, liquor, meats, and more. My dad has been a regular at Martha's for years because of their phenomenal wine selection. The owner is usually around and very friendly. He runs the place really well. They also recently opened their deli section and have fresh meats and cheeses. It's definitely a gourmet grocery store, but you get what you pay for. The selection of items are typically things you can't find other places in Grand Rapids. We were looking for a specific bottle of bourbon that we hadn't been able to find, and of course the owner knew exactly what we were talking about and had it on hand. Can't recommend this place enough. They also own the coffee shop and bakery on the same street, so it's worth stopping into those as well! read more

Martha's is my go to store for wine, beer, and other specialty foods and beverages. When I was looking to buy a home in Grand Rapids, I mentioned to my realtor that it would be a plus if I was in close proximity to to Martha's...that is how essential it is to my life. The atmosphere is energetic, and the store is gorgeous ( a touch crowded). I feel like I have interacted with every member of the staff, and they are all very helpful. The selection for wine, cheese, meats, and other fine deli foods are top notch. I wish they had more room for beer, but I am not going to let that distract from the overall superiority of the store. I hear people complain about the prices (I am still not use to being around so many thrifty/cheap people). Guess what...I'd rather pay more for my things than go to some other beat down, gas station type store. I love Martha's. Give it a try, and don't complain about prices...that is so tacky. read more

Once I entered Martha's Vineyard I knew my shopping experience was going to take a while. The cheeses caught my attention first-St Andre, Petit Basque and other wonderful AOC cheeses. Italian Parmigiana Reggiano, Tallegio and other wonderful and plentiful options. Beers galore in the cooler, but I was all about the vino this day and most days. Chateau Margaux, Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Rhone, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir-I bought lots of good stuff. Vegetables were in a small area, and I all but cleared it out. FYI: I was there "only looking" 2 loaves of home made bread. I bought fig spread, olive oils, pasta. Every town needs a specialty shop like Martha's.. read more

Was visiting Grand Rapids with a friend for Christmas. Came in here to get a bottle of wine. I am a connoisseur of root beer and a collector of root beer and found that they had three brands of root beer that you can't get in Houston where we live. Was excited to see that and bought the root beer. The store has charm and some nice things that you don't find at a regular grocery store. Next time we're back in Grand Rapids visiting this will definitely be a place to go shopping at. read more
