We offer martial arts instruction with a focus on life skills such as respect, discipline, confidence and self-discipline. We teach children from ages 4 and up. Children will experience a fun, safe, exciting lesson with positive encouragement and goal setting. It's also a great fitness activity and a way to develop new friendships and new skills.
For adults, our high-energy classes are great way to get in great shape and lose weight while learning the art of karate and self defense.
New students can try a beginner program to see how our course will meet their needs.
History
Established in 1980.
Matt Dorsey established his karate school in the Henrietta/Brighton, NY area in 1980, originally in Suburban Plaza. The school moved to Winton Place plaza in 1990. Thousands of students have taken karate lessons over the years and hundred of Black Belts were achieved.
Currently there are Martial Arts Amerrica branches in Penfield (opened in 1997), Rochester (Brighton/Pittsford) and Webster.

Meet the Business Owner: Matt D.
Matt Dorsey started his martial arts training at 16 years old and has achieved black belt ranks in Tae Kwon do, Isshin ryu karate and Iaido (samurai sword). He has also trained in boxing, kali (stick fighting), jujitsu, tai chi and other martial arts.
When he began helpin g with the karate classes that were taught at his college years at RIT, he found he enjoyed teaching and jumped at the opportunity to teach at his own dojo (karate school) in 1980.
Since then, he's dedicated his life to teaching students, young and old, the benefits of martial arts training and has seen many people transform their lives through the lessons at his schools.
Always looking to improve, Sensei Matt Dorsey continues to educate himself on better ways to teach and run his martial arts school.
