So when our crawl space needed some work Jay with TriStar was one of the people I called to get an estimate from. Not only was he very responsive in coming out and giving an estimate, but his estimate was less than another well-known contractor I talked to. When I decided to wait for months before deciding to do the work, Jay was very professional about it and his original estimate still applied four months later. Once I hired him, the work went very smoothly. Jay is really easy to communicate with and he clearly communicated to me about what would be done and when, and stuck to it! The work was done well, on time and on budget. When there was a freak problem (a nail somehow got driven up from the crawl space through the hardwood floor in our living room), I texted Jay about it...he texted me back immediately and had someone at the house a couple days later to repair the issue, no questions asked. I can't even tell where the nail was now! I've heard horror stories about bad contractors who aren't reliable or responsible and are hard to get ahold of and communicate with...TriStar is the complete opposite of that. I'm so glad I chose them based on seeing their top notch work at my parents' home, because my experience was no different. I'd definitely recommend them.

Water just sitting there... dark gray, murky, and spiritually unwell. Then, as if to join the chaos, my dishwasher randomly turned on and sounded like it was trying to flush out its regrets. I went to Yelp and fired up one of those project requests. Out of all the companies that got pinged, only one called me directly that night: Devin, the owner of One Source Renovations. At 8PM. On a Sunday. Let that speak for itself. Immediate trust unlocked. We scheduled a 9PM service. At 8:30PM, I get a call from Jamison, the tech. Another emergency had come up for them. He asked if we could reschedule our call to 8AM the following day. I gladly accepted the change. Here's what set them apart: Both Devin and Jamison communicated professionally. Respectful. Clear. No ghosting. No "we'll get back to you." Just a real conversation and a new plan. THE SOLUTION: At exactly 8:00 AM, Jamison showed up. Not "between 8 and noon." Not "running late." Just... there. Like a legend. Jamison explained everything clearly, treated us and our home with total respect, and got to work. 1. Vacuumed the standing water out of the sink 2. I then learned that providing a large brunch for my family can be the gateway drug to pipe failure if mistakes are made. He explained that when you grind up eggshells, the calcium from them will form with the grease and soap residue to create the perfect storm inside your pipes. The crushed shells form a gritty paste. The grease binds everything together. And the soap just helps it slide into place and coat your pipes like jelly. Pipe jelly. That's what I made. And now I'll never un-know it. His advice? "Food doesn't belong in pipes. But if it happens, run ice cubes and Dawn dish soap through the disposal. It'll help break up the sludge and keep the impellers moving right." No judgment. No condescension. Just solid advice that actually made sense. THE BONUS ROUND: While wrapping up, we chatted about future plumbing work. I have a few projects I've been putting off. I didn't want to scope creep his day, but he asked about a slow-draining sink in the primary bathroom and said, "Mind if I just knock that out real quick?" Five minutes later: Problem solved. I had to come by my residence daily to ensure the job was staying on track, during this time several things had to be redone. While they were doing the construction they damaged one of my vent lines to the kitchen and placed duct tape on it (never told me). The paint first started pealing off the wall, the vanity was not placed in the correct place and the plumbing was not done to specs. The small amount of electrical work was way over price (this came later and was not on the estimate)!!! We had to purchase the faucet, toilet, sink and vanity, shower head and hand rails. Which were not included in the estimate. I would look for another contractor, unless you have time in your day to check on it daily. Would highly not recommend this company.

He emailed me an estimate that was very good and said if I had further questions to let him know. He did not reply (it was on a thursday that these emails were sent) By Sunday night I was totally freaked out and sent another email stating I had sent 2 prior and that I needed to know what he had done under the house.He emailed me back defensive on Monday and explained that it coudln't be his fault, it was water pressure. It was strange, but I responded with ok, how do we fix it? He did not reply again for 3 days. He then replied (and I have been without drains in my kitchen/laundry for over 2 weeks now) that he would not do the job. When I asked why he explain that he was offended by my accusations and that they have worked with other people before who were dishonest and would try to blame the plumber for other problems that may arise (basically saying I would do that) and that he was anxious and uncomfortable doing the work for me. I would gladly provide a transcript of these emails. I was shocked that I would be accused, yet be called the accuser. The owner apologized for the manager's lack of response but agreed that he not do the job. Well yeah, I agree too. It was a very hurtful and upsetting experience. Starting over.

They addressed two exterior leaks only after repeated pushing on our part. They completed one interior damage repair, but a second interior repair that MidSouth was responsible for was never scheduled despite our repeated requests. Since May 2025, we attempted to escalate to management at least three times. We were never provided contact information by either the project manager or the receptionist, and when we finally reached the office directly, we were told the Operations Manager would not speak with us. Management did not engage with us until July 2026, and only after we sent a formal written complaint. When they finally responded, their emails contained factual inaccuracies, including attributing statements to us that were never made and characterizing repair work as "courtesy visits in an effort to assist." Regardless of MidSouth's position on warranty coverage, the quality of customer service alone warrants this review. At no point in over a year did MidSouth proactively contact us with updates or solutions. Every step forward required us to initiate, often repeatedly.
