Very very disappointing service. Dr Martin was rude to my fiancé when he brought up an on going eye infection, he believed it was caused by his contact. And jumped on him for using his own eyedrops, asking why you hadn't been in sooner mind you this was a first-time patient visit? Then she proceeded to tell him that he was not eligible for Lasik something our previous doctor of many years who retired had approved already? So after an already initial bad experience when he went back to pick up his glasses, the girl working at the front, went to adjust them, and then broke his frames! She just sort of chuckled and said well, that's why we have the insurance when you use your own frames .. like what? How rude can you be to a customer that just spent $300 to have nothing he can't use the frames because they're broken.He can't use the lenses bec they are cut for those frames specificly so he's just SOL. read more

I do not understand the negative reviews at all. Dr. Martin is the best, she is attentive, smart, and totally up to date on the latest care and treatments. I was referred to her by friend for dry eye issues that have plagued me for years. Decades of futile dry eye treatments are now a thing of the past--it's so liberating not to need bottles of drops constantly. It's like she made a miracle happen. My wife recently visited Martin Eyecare for her annual visit. She than proceeded to ask for a PD measurement so that she could order glasses at another location. The office than stated that it would be an additional $25 for this measurement. This fee would not have been charged if she purchased glasses within the office. This policy has not always been the case. We will no longer be going to this office. read more

The woman Karen who deals with the eyeglasses is terrible! When you wear progressives your lenes should have room . At the time I did not know that and I changed my frame twice and my inc would only cover so much. I could not see good with both frames . They keep telling me to give my eyes time to get used to the progressive lenes it was about a month I still could not see good.I then tried bifocal. That line drove me nuts. So I decided to get a pair of bifocals from eyebuydirect in bigger lenses and They were much better . Then I decided to go ahead and try progressive lenes from eyebuydirect and I did and they were awesome! That woman Karen from martins should know better then to put progressive in small lenes it gives you no room to see well . So I'm out of money and have no use for the frames I got from martins. Karen needs to go back to school and learn some more. Also she could use a attitude adjustment. read more

Very disappoint with the quality of eye exam and accuracy by Dr. Murray At Martin Eyecare. I called several times to ask to come back in due to the fact that my vision seemed off for the prescription she gave me. The lady I spoke with kept saying "give it time for your eyes to adjust". I gave it several months and called to say it wasn't better. Finally, I went somewhere else (where they gave me a different/better prescription) when they wouldn't comply. I went to return some of the year supply of contacts I bought and they would only take back 6 if the 10 boxes. What a joke. What am I supposed to do with 4 30 day supply of contacts that have the wrong prescription. I would not recommend this office and will not be back! read more

As with what seems like most services, it was too good to last. Having been a patient since 2013, I will be looking elsewhere. While still employed at the same company with the same benefits, I had an ID mailed to me to provide when getting an exam. I found that I had to provide that in advance and could not make an appointment without first having my insurance verified. So, despite being a patient for 6 years and having the same employer, I could not make an appointment with Martin Eyecare without first providing information to allow them to verify my insurance. I left my last provider because I felt as if customer service was lacking. I will make an appointment with a new provider for the same reason. I was assumed to be a non-payor or unable to pay for my eye exam until I could prove coverage. read more

Here are the issues I encountered during my 2 month's as a new, and never again, patient for Martin Eyecare: 1) Incorrect eye prescription: On my initial exam 2 month's ago, Dr. Martin wrote a script for 6.00 in both my left and right eye when I have been 6.50 for the last 5 years in both. I was told that I had been overcorrected and 6.00 was my true script. I tried using 6.00 in both my eyes during trials for contacts and it never worked out. Also per my request, but not fulfilled fully, they did let me try out 6.50 in my right but they wouldn't budge on giving me 6.50 for my left. Today, they tried fine tuning after 1 week of me trying 6.00 in both eyes AGAIN with another brand which luckily wasn't causing me discomfort. I was still having difficulty with vision though. The doc made the comment along the lines of that my case "didn't make any sense"- which just cemented that they thought I was a difficult patient . Come to find out she was almost going to really over-correct me with 7.00. I told her for the 5th time, that my old contacts that were 6.50 always worked fine for me and still do. So she finally allowed me to get 6.50 in both my eyes. I don't know why it took so long to understand I see with 6.50. With this ordeal, I came to have a lack of confidence in their script and ability to exam. ( I have worn glasses since age 5 and contacts since I was 13, and I have never had 2 months of appointments to figure out my script.) 2) Foreign Body Sensation in Left Eye not Addressed Fully or Corrected: As we tried to discern which brand and prescription would work best for me, I noticed a discomfort / "weird-feeling" in my left eye with each of these brands. I am not even sure if it was the actual trial contacts themselves causing me the issue or my eyes. Either way, I was disappointed by the lack of probing questions to understand the issue since it was hard for me to explain, and they did not perform further analysis or examination of my left eye (and I mean no further looking into the issue, no pass with the light, no looking under the eye lid, asking what contact lens solution I use nada!) . They only tried throwing more contacts at me to tryout, or stating unsubstantiated reasons why I may be experiencing this issue, e.g., floater, duration of eye contact wearing, eye rejection. With this ordeal, I felt ignored. and victimized since my eyes weren't reacting the way others do, because as the tech stated on several occasions "no one else has had any issues with 'this' brand." Goodness, all this trouble and I have no issues when I wear my glasses or wear my old brand of contacts. 3) Contact Brand: I am almost blessed by the fact that my contact brand "is going the way of the dinosaur" as the doc put it. Biomedics XC is not supplied by them. I was tolerant of the needed change although it made me unhappy. Had my brand been available, I probably would have ordered contacts and they would have been in the incorrect 6.00 prescription, which would have not been a good scenario. I created a Yelp account today, to share my experience since I didn't see any similar ones online- and this is for individuals searching the internet trying to find a provider in Smyrna. To give a full, honest review, I was always taken back in a timely manner for my appointments and greeted with a smile BUT at the end of the day that doesn't help an individual physically see and have eye comfort. Maybe it was me growing tired of having to go every week for the last 2 months, but there was an underlying rushed feeling and a sense that they didn't care how I felt or what I had to say. I decided to pull the plug with them today even though it was hard for me to "give up". I bought contacts from them today, in fact, and thought the AirOptix brand was working for me, but I had the issue with the left eye when I got home- it was an absolute disappointment for me and for them I am sure. They said they could do nothing further for me to help with my left eye. They did refund me for the contacts which is appreciated, but it's sad that my $80 for the initial exam was blown to the wind since I am going to try another doc and get a 2nd opinion on my prescription and possible left eye trouble. Its additionally upsetting that I have to now pay $120 to get another exam since I now have to pay out-of-pocket. I didn't escalate the issue fully with the office. They probably would have kept having me come in and doing nothing for me so they could feel like they give good service and did all they could for me. They did not try to address my dissatisfaction with them when I returned the contacts today or later on in the day to retain me as a patient, so I guess I must have been ONE OF THOSE patients for them. I recommend you try another provider's office. I dreaded each time i had to go in and I am glad I no longer have to have that feeling. read more

Came in for new glasses and exam a couple of weeks ago, and if I could give zero stars I would. First, I felt very rushed during the exam process and felt like my feedback wasn't taken into account. The office was very busy, so I'm guessing I got hurried through in order to get to other customers. Second, I wear trifocals, and the doctor didn't even check my trifocal strength. I was told that the strength had more to do with my age rather than what any test could measure (I've never had another doctor do this, they always measure). When it came time to look at glasses, again, it was very busy, so I looked at their selection for a while and waited. After about 20 minutes it seemed apparent that I wasn't going to be helped any time soon, so I asked for my prescription and left. While I was waiting, I heard the girl selling the glasses contradict herself several times while speaking to customers. In fact, she sometimes told customers completely different things and seemed like she was just trying to make a sale. I certainly won't be coming back here and would advise anyone else to do the same. read more

I've been here ONCE for an eye exam a few years back. Don't let the aesthetic facility fool you. Everyone was rude and even though I bought a 12 month supply of over-priced contact lenses, it was like pulling teeth to get my lens prescription (they push their frames heavily) I buy my glasses online for $95 (I get them from Warby Parker. Great, affordable frames and awesome customer service make me a happy camper). This review is really because my husband has a bad experience with every unmerited, LOYAL visit to Martin Eyecare, this last time they ordered the wrong prescription for new glasses and they made him make another eye appointment?!? Wha?? Why? Since he's already had an eye exam, this appointment will be out of pocket!! Needless to say, he won't be going back. Ms. Martin, please hire friendly reception who listen and know what they're doing. And for goodness sake, take care of the clients who come in year after year despite your cantankerous staff. read more
