From the moment I contacted Martin Shower Door, Amy was very helpful and directed me to the PERFECT solution. I asked to have the old, framed enclosure removed and replaced with a semi-frameless unit. 3 months ago We moved into our "new" home (built in 1953) and went through some critical repairs and updates from foundation up and one of the repairs was a complete gut of our small master bathroom. We worked w/ a trusted contractor to build it back up and one of the final items was to install the sliding shower glass system and I did not trust myself nor have the energy to figure out how to install this myself. A day after contacting them, they had a representative come out to take laser measurements to make sure the glass that they source will fit correctly in our tiled opening. Of course nothing is exactly plumb and level in the construction world, so they ordered specific dimensions to ensure a very snug fit. When the glass was ready from their vendor, they contacted us and made an appointment to install. My wife and I needed a shower door for our master bath. We called Martin Shower Door, and they gave us a preliminary quote. A couple of days later they had an estimator at our house to measure. The next day we selected the door we wanted. About 5 days later, a gentlemen named Rudy arrived with our new shower door. Rudy could not have been nicer or more professional. Within a couple of hours, he had removed the old door, put the new door in and completely cleaned up. The only way you could tell he had been there was that we now had a new shower door! Martin Shower Door did a fantastic job! We have a 1930's bathroom with a tiled coved shower and our original shower door finally gave up the ghost. When we looked for a replacement, we wanted to get a door that was essentially the same as the one we had, updated with tempered glass. Part of the challenge was that our original door had a decorative metal accent piece on the top that sort of gave it a Spanish Revival feel. We wanted to re-use that piece on our new door. Easier said than done! After contacting about a dozen glass and shower door companies, we learned a couple of things. First, a surprising number of companies never responded to our inquiries. Second, some companies that claim to do custom work really mean that they will take a stock product from one of their suppliers and install it. They won't do anything to "customize" the product. That decorative piece that we wanted to reuse? Forget about it. The folks at Martin Shower Door were different. They do their own fabrication. I showed them the pictures of our old door, told them what I wanted to do, and they said that it was no problem. The person who I mainly dealt with, Karie, was a pleasure. She was super responsive and gave us a very reasonable quote. The removal of the old door and installation of the new door went as smooth as silk. The installer, Danny, is a craftsman that takes pride in his work. He took his time to carefully measure and fit the new door, and to carefully drill holes in our 80 year old tiles for the frame. The product is fine but don't expect any customer service. Debbie Martin thought there was nothing wrong with removing my shower enclosure on a Friday with a promise of a new install the following Friday only to find out that the door to the shower was about 1" too small. I wouldn't mind showering with towels on the floor would I? No effort was made to expedite my door...many, many excuses about no installers, vacations and already scheduled installs. It was the following Friday the door got installed. So, consider if you can be without your shower for 2 weeks before you sign up with this group. Ms. Martin was made aware of this situation and chose not to react, vacation being on her horizon. read more
