Very nice place if you are in the area. It's a small town, so it a small town feel to the place. I'm from Martindale, I'm just so happy that I can go home and enjoy a meal and a beer downtown, where I used to run around and cause chaos as a youth. The menu looks pretty interesting, haven't tried any of the food yet, but we will. I really enjoy just being able to chill and have a beer. Looking forward to returning time after time. The staff is friendly, the place is super small, but plenty of room outside, on the front, or even across the street, where they have live music and other events.

We stopped in on a weekend drive during Spring and were attracted by the crowd sitting outside and across the street where there are picnic tables. The inside is quite small, but very attractively remodeled in a historic building right in the center of Martindale. I had the Brisket Burger which apparently featured BBQ brisket from one of the famed Lockhart pit masters. It looked exactly like a hamburger, but was better than the best hamburger I ever ate--which is saying a lot since I am pretty long in the tooth. I am uploading a photo of its cross-section. My wife had the Chicken Banhmi. It was a bit too spicy for her, but the bite I had tasted pretty good. All-in-all, this might be the "jewel of Martindale" and close enough to Austin to justify a trip out for some variety. Traffic and parking were not a problem. While you're in the area, take the road down the steep embankment and across a wood bridge over the pristine San Marcos River. The sign says "Private," but that should be read as "dead-end" rather than "don't try this." It's right down the street from the restaurant.

A nice little place in downtown Martindale. Very friendly, welcoming owners. Love their piped in music and decor. Menu is limited but everything we got , namely chicken bahnmi, fancy grilled cheese and pulled pork tacos were really good. They have live music on certain nights, Friday -Sunday(I think). We'll have to back and check that out.

Stopped in for breakfast on a weekday in June and so glad we did. We were the only ones there at the time so service was quick but not microwaved, thank goodness. I had the Sweet Avo Toast. Bread was good and crusty and the balsamic strawberry feta made such a nice combo. Hub got the breakfast sandwich and it was huge! We'll definitely be back when coming thru Martindale. Looks like they are ramping up the "downtown" area so I imagine things will get busier. They have live music on Thursday-Saturday nights too.

The wood roasting lends wonderful smokey notes to the flavor of the coffee in an excellent balance. I've had mostly their butter croissant, almond croissant, and pain au chocolat, and all three are wonderfully flaky, rich, and moist. They're a great addition to excellent coffee. Service is likewise quite friendly. The only downside is that they don't take cash. All told, though, great coffee, great pastries, and great service make an absolutely winning combination.

When I walked into this location to pick up an online order, a girl behind the counter just looked at me and didn't say anything or greet me. I picked up my coffee and waited a few minutes for the pastries. Another girl came up and asked if the pastries were mine. I said yes and asked her (after trying the latte) if there was any strawberry in the latte because it only tasted like cinnamon which I don't like. She said there was strawberry and cinnamon in it and left it at that. Didn't offer to replace the drink, didn't thank me or any other customer for coming in. Overall, the latte was gross and the customer service was terrible. I do not recommend this location at all. I went back to look to see if it mentioned cinnamon when ordering and it did not. Maybe the cinnamon is in the moon milk? Either way, I should have been offered a replacement.

We'll see. They make standard good drinks here. What turned me off, though, was my first visit. I asked for my matcha latte to be 190 degrees or as close as possible and the manager lady told me they don't take drinks that high for safety reasons. I called BS and told her about every location that has made my drink as requested, even if they have to steam the milk by itself, and she still refused my order as asked. The next time when I returned and that manager **wasn't ** there, the sweet young lady made my drink as requested, so I want to know why that particular lady straight lied to my face and told me "NO" like I'm a child when I KNOW Starbucks can do drinks up to 190. It put a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't ask you to consider my safety. I asked you to give me a drink at 190 so it could stay hot during my rather lengthy commute. I'm not a kid. Other than that particular lady, the staff has been incredibly kind and I even sat and did an interview inside and they turned the music down for me. 4 stars. I hope someone reads this from Starbucks!

Earlier in the week was a plain croissant and this morning's is almond. Big as my face, lovely delicate crisp outer shell, a bit of marzipan inside. Good enough I had to ask where tf have you been going, this is wonderful. He says they're about $5 apiece, same as his plain black coffee. I know you could get one cheaper at HEB but they're usually the softer sandwich kind, not platonic ideal flaky breakfast or fancy flavored indulgence. Plus if you've ever actually made croissants you know they should charge $1000 each to start with; probably less work to plan a wedding.
