Hands-down, they have some of the best marinated meat I've ever had. They cut the meat fresh so I would give it at least a few hours to let them marinate soak in. So I was a bit leery about coming here from the outside it is not very exciting. I came here with a couple of locals who said this is the spot to go for the best tacos. The inside smells like meat but since it is a meat market that is what it should smell like. I got two tacos a beef and a chicken. They were both super good I just thought the chicken was better. I have to say these were probably the best street tacos I have ever had. For street tacos they came with cheese and avacado and grilled onions so definitely elevated for this hole in the wall. We also got some ceviche that was really good and they made homemade chips to serve with it....bomb! If I was ever back in the area I would have to come back. read more

But they don't understand me sometimes i order the same thing both times Carnitas plate and carne asada tacos and the prices were different the first time I went it was 9.50 The second time I went it was 17.50... not too sure why it was more when I got the same as the first time.. but the tacos again are super good.. Okay this was my first time to Martinez meats and I came here exclusively for tacos and tacos only. I ordered 2 carne asada, 2 buche and 2 Al pastor tacos. I wanted to get a good grasp of their flavors if any any. Let me say that these tacos did not leave me wanting more. Flavor was mediocre at best and I'm being generous, there was a bonus star added for the chili torreados or fried jalapenos. I didn't ask for them but got them anyways. They were very good but they over done and wilty, a bit too salty for my liking but ok. The carne asada tacos were very odd,the texture was a mix between real meat and Jack in the box tacos and the taste was...eh let's just say not there. Definitely was missing the wow factor. I then tried the buche tacos and definitely was surprised to see how thick the cuts we're and the meat was little pink ,not sure if it was smoked to give that look but the pink was a result not from lack of cooking but the process of which it was cooked or steamed or whatever. I have to say that tacos that lack cilantro will definitely lead to disappointment, this was definitely the case here maybe a few sprigs of cilantro and that's it, the onion was swimming in the tacos. Onions are great and I love them but when it's lacking cilantro it just doesn't compliment the tacos very well. Sorry only a 1/2 star for this taco. Moving on to the Al pastor tacos, definitely were a bit on the sweet side almost like a sweet teriyaki flavor, again the tacos lacked that punch I was expecting. I'll tell you what saved the tacos from me throwing them in the trash was the friend jalapenos. If it wasn't for those jalapenos they probably would have gotten thrown out. I have to say the salsa was pretty disappointing to say the least. I was expecting some good garlic to come on the front end of the palate, but none , it was just red tomato sauce with chili and salt. I used one salsa container out of 2 and I was pushing it just to see if it would change but it didn't. One last note in these tacos. I get that tacos need to be somewhat basted with a tad of oil to get that nice flavor of the taco to pop, but in all honesty these tacos were drenched in oil, no joke, see pics I'm not exaggerating. It was a combination of the oil from the Al pastor and the taco oil that made this taco just not paletteable. All tacos we're just as drenched with oil. Cashier was less than pleasant to deal with I think I would have had a better conversation with the wooden post that was in there. This dude was just unenthusiastic and very short. I had asked the guy a question on what the difference was between a certain meat and he said "just a different flavor". I could have surmised that myself but I hoping in getting a better synopsis of my guess on the difference between the 2. So in closing, would I come back? Definitely not. Would I recommend it to friends? Definitely not but I will say that you have to try so that you can judge for yourself. I love this place. The carne is always good. I've always eaten just the tacos never really have ventured out on the rest of their menu. All their meat is always very tasty the only one that I think they need some work on is the lengua meat they have not been able to master the taste yet. Maybe cause my expectations are somewhat high (mom makes lengua and is delicious). UDATE10/1/2017 Disappointing and Inconsistent! I had stopped ordering from them due to the inconsistency in their results. One time the machiaca and egg burrito was moist and delicious the next time the meat was burnt and there were no beans or rice. I forget what there was supposed to be bit a lot was missing. I decided today to try their carne asada fries as the last time my husband ordered them they were perfection. Today not so much. The meat was barely there (last time it overflowed) and both the meat and fries were burnt. I could not eat it so I plopped it in the frig for my husband to eat another day. He found it tolerable though not up to par. The man has a cast iron stomach and eats mainly to be full whereas I eat for taste. What a disappointment! I didn't bother calling or returning this order instead I have decided to update my original review. I now agree with Eek! Methinks not. Awesome and Authentic. Small meat market that makes some of the best mexican food. They have a large variety of choices for such a small place. They also cater either by buying trays or hiring the truck but you need 50 people for the truck. I plan to buy some of their meat next time and cook up either the already prepared carne asada or fajitas or perhaps some of the very thinly sliced milanese meat and/or chicken breast impossible to find that thin in the grocery stores. Not sure how they do it for Mexico but in Italy it is breaded in flour, egg wash, and bread crumbs and cooked in olive oil served with french fries and peperonata (a mix of different colored bell peppers and tomatoes). For lunch I had the carne asada burrito which had what else carne asada, rice, beans and salsa. It was very tasty and quite large. They included 4 tiny containers of green and red salsa though I preferred the green. I think it was $5.00 and change. My husband had the carne asada fries. That was awesome! French fries with carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and probably some salsa. It was piled high in a to go container. There was a more than ample amount of meat on top. It cost a little over $6. Both of these are with tax so probably $4.99 and $5.99. Well worth the price. Very very yummy place. Plus they speak english for us gringos. I consider this inexpensive but perhaps it is moderate hence the prices in the review. read more

I asked the guy for 2 pounds of ranchera meat and he gave me 3. I couldn't noticed how much he had gave me because they have a bunch of salt in front of the scale. After i told them at the register that i only wanted 2 lb. They got an attitude with me. One other thing that i noticed was that when you ask them to marinate your meat they're supposed to weight your meat then marinate it not include half bag of marinate juice to the coast....will never go there again read more

So because I've never tried this place before my boyfriend and I went in ahead of time to try the carnitas and the carne asada. It was very tasty in the tacos they served us. However, I ordered two trays at $60 a piece of carnitas and carne asada. Ended up throwing most of it away it was so dry and so tasteless and nothing like we what we had tried in the market. I've eaten at this spot several times while working in Hesperia. It is definitely a small hole in the wall joint but that's where you find some of the beat food. My favorite is the limo street taco with avocado and grilled onions. The dining area is small and after all you are eating inside a meat market. The overall setup and layout of the joint could be better and cleanliness of the displays and floors is not what you would call spotless. Food is cheap and it is good the times I've been here. I believe they also cater. Location is a bit hard to spot at first glance. There is limited parking out front but plenty in the back. I would go back! read more

The whole place seems very unsanitary based on the fact they run a phone shop, meat market, and taco shop all in one, it just seems dirty and has a nasty smell. We got two basic taco plates. The chicken was good, but the al pastor was mediocre. The beans were garbage, they should be ashamed to run a Mexican food establishment and not be able to serve decent beans. The portions of the taco were good, compared to the tacos they should provide more beans and rice. The pricing is ridiculous which is what sealed me on not coming back. This place has the best carne asada in town. Although this market is a little on the small side, they have lots to offer. I was worried to go in here since I don't speak spanish, however everyone was very nice and willing to help me. I have ordered their burritos and tacos and they are delicious. They have a full menue of items you can order as well as a full counter of meats that you can purchase. When ever we plan on a BBQ we always get our carne asada here. I went to A restaurant/meat shop called Martinez Meats. It is located in Hesperia between 7th and 5th. The Directors name was . I am offering a good review that they deserve and need. The restaurant is in good quality and has very nice place. I think that the location is in a good spot. I think the service is good, it is better than other restaurants, and the food is super delicious. My favorite part of the visit was the people who work there because hey were so friendly and welcoming. Had these guys cater for our party. We had ordered 4 types of meats and they only brought 3. I showed the guy the receipt that CLEARLY listed the 4 meats and he said that he had forgotten but they had "doubled up" on carne asada for the missing meat. Makes no sense, because if they had forgotten they wouldn't of "doubled" the meat beforehand. Also, its not a little taco stand, its a taco trailer. Father in law went to get carne asada. When they opened the bag, it had a distinct smell. The meat was cooked and brought in and that was when I smelled it. Horrible smell..sections of the meat where green. I packaged the meat and took it back and requested a refund. Horrible experience..never again will I purchase there. Have to say today was not their day. It was hot inside. I think the son was taking orders but didn't take them down right. The soda machine was down and the bottled drinks were all warm. There was water leaking inside the raw meat section. We come here and bring out of towners there for the best tacos in the high desert. But today was a horrible day to celebrate my birthday dinner. Once we got our tacos we didn't get any limes or chilies and a couple of tacos were not made right. We weren't the only dissatisfied customers there. We ordered 21 tacos total and had forgotten 3 more so we placed an order with the son and after 20 minutes went by, my husband ask the boy if he had told his dad (the cook) and the boy said he had forgotten to place the order with him. I usually love the food and the staff, but there's this new worker, Cecilia who SUCKS. Everything I've had here has been very good...Carne Asada, pollo asada, cabeza and lengua tacos and burritos are great! The burritos are a very generous size including beans, rice, onion, cilantro and salsa. Tacos are $.89 each and the burritos were around $5 I've also purchased bags or their tortilla chips, salsa and corn tortillas, ALL are very satisfying and priced very reasonable. The tacos are good. Most of the time. The place lacks consistency. One day you have raw onions, the next day they throw grilled onions on the tacos (which I am not a fan of). It's absolutely filthy inside the store, it could use a good cleaning. read more

Very disappointed I had several occasions we're there tacos and carne asada fries werent cooked properly just as the fries or tortillas . Poor presentation on the cook part . Service is not attentive . I understand it family owned and they have there customers . But if they need to survive in the high desert they need to focus on improving there service and meal prep . Hence they don't always have certain plates available even when they have it in the menu . That's not ok for a business . I would love to see them put more effort.
