Martin is awesome! Reasonable, on time, best problem-solver I know! He has never let me down!

I made an appointment with Martin to look at our Maytag washing machine, which has developed a minor leak, but things went badly from the start. Before I could finish explaining the problem, he began pulling our dryer out onto the Saltillo floor tiles to access the washer. I politely asked him to wait, explaining that I was concerned about protecting the tiles, and offered to lay down a drop cloth if he didn't have one in his truck -- at which point he abruptly said he was unwilling to work on my washer and launched into a story of how a customer had unjustly accused him of damaging their floor and had sued him. Santa Fe. Recently, my (old) washing machine began rocking severely. Martin was recommended by another firm in Santa Fe that did not have any free time for several weeks. When I called Martin, he made an appointment with a two hour window. He arrived on time, and immediately knew what to do. He quoted me a price, then did the job quickly and efficiently. Martin is the best in town. He's punctual, honest, and reliable. He's a great communicator--he answers his phone and responds promptly to voicemails. He's been in the biz for 26 years, and it shows; Martin knows this town like the back of his hand. His prices are fair and spelled out plainly. He speaks English and Spanish. Martin was honest, fair, very personable and easy to talk to. My dishwasher was not filling with water and I had looked several times under my kitchen sink to see if I could find the water supply valve for the dishwasher. Couldn't find it because I thought it would be located near the shut off valves for the hot and cold water for the kitchen faucet, and I didn't take all the usual stuff out from under my sink; didn't think the valve would be located only a few inches up from the floor! Martin started diagnosing right away ( I had told him the valves under the sink were open and by that I meant the 2 ones I found, not realizing there WAS actually another one for the dishwasher). After a short while he looked under the sink as I had done several times, and darned if he didn't find the valve I had been looking for but couldn't find because I hadn't removed all the stuff, and because I didn't think it would be down so low. I had a plumber replace my kitchen faucet a while ago and he had turned off the supply to the dishwasher and DIDN'T turn it back on! I imagine Martin felt a bit bad that the plumber had caused the problem that I was now going to have to pay someone to diagnose, and he offered me a good discount for his services; I didn't ask, he OFFERED! I will be calling him in the future for any appliance repair needs and am spreading the word to my family and friends. Just spoke to a gentleman at Martin's repair and explained to him what my problem was with my dryer. He told me it was probably the motor and that I would be better off buying a new dryer instead of repairing the old one. I am so happy there are still honest people out there. Martin came and fixed our fridge which had a broken fan in it. He arrived very promptly, explained the problem well, and made the repair for a reasonable fee. He also explained a few features of the fridge and how to use it most efficiently. Very happy with his service, would happily call him again or recommend to any friend. read more

Martin's appliance showed up within the 2-hour time frame provided. Martin was professional and efficient. I appreciated his honesty and delicately letting me know that I "could" repair my washer but it would be best to replace it. The cost for this diagnosis was just shy of $70. read more

If any appliance repair man deserves to become a minor deity I would toss Martin's name into nomination.. Shows up on time, goes right to work, performs the repair, cleans up after himself, and his charges were extremely fair. If Martin reaches Deity status, which he deserves I'm hoping he will cut back on the Spring winds and bring on a little more rain. read more

Based on Yelp reviews, I contacted Martin's Appliances. My front load washer was not draining properly and I did some basic troubleshooting, but couldn't get it fixed. When I explained what was going on to Martin, he said it sounded like the coin trap was clogged, quoted me a price and we set up an appointment with 2 hour time window. He showed up during that time window and cleaned out the clogged coin trap. He also showed me how to do it myself, but I definitely think I will just call him if it clogs again. However, I did appreciate him showing me how to do it. In my experience, he is honest, reliable and very reasonably priced. read more

I'm always on my guard when I need someone to repair something in my home - refrigerator, washer/dryer, A/C or heat ing system, etc. - because I don't know a lot about them and am worried about being taken. When Martin showed up, he was friendly and immediately got to work. I was unable to replicate the problem I was having, with my washing machine leaking. For whatever reason it worked fine when he was there. But he spent an hour and a half looking at it, tweaking things, etc. Then at the end he said that he hasn't really done anything (not true) and so he wasn't going to charge me anything! Even when I tried to force some cash into his hand, he refused to take it. I cannot speak highly enough of Martin and his ethics. Two thumbs up from me. read more

Dishwasher problem, martin's appliance repair answered the phone immediately, we scheduled a few days away because of holiday, they showed up easily in the 2 hour window he had given, and he quickly and competently responded and fixed the problem. He had excellent suggestion for how to prevent the problem in the future (put four upright cups filled with vinegar in the empty machine and run one of the longer regular cycles, about every four months. prevents mineral buildup in the mechanisms.) I have used lots of appliance repair companies in my life and several here in Santa Fe. I have never-ever-felt that the company was completely honest. Martin is. I cannot shout enough praise for this company and for Martin. I was quoted over $1200 for a freezer repair by another company in town and Martin pointed out that the repair suggested was not even necessary. It was a completely different part that needed replacement. He charged me $144 total and my freezer is now running perfectly. What a difference. He was punctual and kind and explained everything.
