As a retired school administrator, I periodically assist, subbing as a school administrator. On January 08, 2025, I picked up 72 cookies from the Bakery at the Martin's Store located at Ironwood/SR23. These cookies were intended as "positive rewards" for students at North Side Middle School, Elkhart IN. The prior day when I ordered the cookies, I asked that the cookies be "packaged" in separate groups of 6, to ease distribution to the various classes/students. When I picked up the cookies on January 08, 2025, from the Bakery, I was "shocked" at the attention to detail that demonstrated separate packaging and all boxed. I thanked the Bakery Manager, Melinda and asked her to thank the staff for demonstrating, not only excellent preparation of product (cookies), packaging of products, but assisting me, to reward students for their positive behaviors. I believe that the Bakery staff recognized the importance of their involvement.....to support students and schools....and the entire Bakery staff (managed by Melinda) represents the continued excellence of the Martin's Super Market brand....I am greatly appreciative! read more

We have shopped at Martin's since moving here in December of 2019. Since the start of the COVID-19 we have been ordering on-line with home delivery from several sources. I went to use the Martin's on-line system today & after spending the better part of the morning searching & choosing our grocery list for the week fill in's I was amazed when I got to the end. Look @ all these fees plus a MANDATORY tip built in. Luckily we get a SENIOR CITIZEN discount for the shopping! Everybody is entitled to make a little money in these coronavirus times but over $20.00 in fees to buy groceries is a little much. We will continue to use our present sources & say goodbye to Martin's grocery stores. UPDATE! Elise, thank you for the update. I went back to my original order to place it with Martins as a pickup & the first date available was this Saturday May 2nd ! I can't wait that long, 5 days, but thank you for your assistance. Martin's Super Market - Grocery Near Me - South Bend, Indiana

Food presentation is always appealing and it feels as though prices aren't as sky high as they used to be at this location. I'm guessing the newer Granger bougie stores minimized the significance and sales of this one? Not a clue but I would shop here more often if it weren't for the rude staff. I really hate the poor design of Martin's deli and meat work counters in general which are setup for staff to have their backs to customers. Perfect escape for the antisocial workers who (btw) HATE being interrupted. You have to really, really want something and be prepared to wait or do battle with the rude behavior. Today, there were no cashiers at the deli side entrance just before 8 a.m. which is a very busy time. I stood waiting for 2-3 minutes in front of bakery workers never looked up to offer an explanation or reassurance that someone would be right back. The lone cashier emerged from behind the bakery staff carrying a bucket of sudsy water so they knew where she was or maybe they didn't since they work in a zone? She never acknowledged the line, and continued to fumble with the wash water bucket in a sink, slowly ring it out and wash the counter with no eye contact or apology for the delay. She casually washed her hands, which is important, but I emphasize the word casually here. Finally she waved me forward. No apology for my wait and by this point I made no effort to be friendly. If she perceived me as rude then I would say she knows how it feels to be on my side of the counter. It's pretty sad that I've come to expect this level of rude treatment whenever I patron any Martin's store. I have walked away from their counters more times than I can count! Kroger gets a bad rap for being a second rate grocery store but I would rather give them my business. Prices are less and most of the time I have friendlier interactions with their people. Martin's needs to step it up. read more

I'm reposting this from a young man who stated he had on black lives matter mask!!! Clearly this is a business that's offended by black people! So blacks we need to stop giving them our business. PLEASE SHARE: I have worn this mask for only TWO shifts at Martin's Super Markets. Today I was informed by my store manager that there had been so many customer complaints filed against me for wearing it that the corporate office was instructing me not to wear it. Meanwhile, Martins has made no statement in solidarity of its black workers or customers. I left my shift when this happened and currently do not plan on returning. Some may say I was violating company policy for using them as a "platform", but I believe Martin's should speak out and actively combat racism especially because they serve a largely white consumer base and these tend to be the people who need to hear it the most. This grocery store is located close to campus and offers a large variety of many foods. However, I think the prices are a bit more expensive, but I expected that. There is a deli area, salad bar, Starbucks, sushi area, and meal area where you can get fried chicken. There is also seating near the salad bar if you want to eat inside the store. I do think it's annoying how you have to enter from one entrance and walk around the deli, vegetables, and fruit to get to the rest of the store though. It just seems like a hassle to make everyone go around that circle if they don't want to buy anything that is on the path. Sushi: Ultimate chili roll I got this one day in the afternoon. It tasted okay; the rice tasted a bit hard since it had been sitting in the cooler for a while. Martins supermarket is definitely better than other options. It is an amazing tailgate place with cold cuts wings and such.

I try not to step foot in Martin's anymore. They are very controlling and pushy. Most of the employees including manager are rude and not very considerate. It makes me sad because I try to like them, but with their attitudes I just can't. read more

After checking in at the nearby South Bend Residence Inn, we took a little drive and found Martin's Super Market along S. Bend Avenue and Ironwood Road -- near the campus of Notre Dame University. When we're on the road on a business trip, we usually find a local grocery store where we can stock up on some bottled water and fresh fruit. Martin's is open until Midnight every night, so that was perfect for the weary travelers to find some food before crashing at the hotel. There was a surprisingly good collection of fresh fruit, and they also have a big deli counter where we were able to order freshly-grilled paninis for dinner, and make up a side salad at their salad bar. I found the layout of the store to be a bit odd, but no issues with the quality and price of the food. The store was clean and well-stocked. read more

Just a nice little neighborhood grocery in general, and the fried/rotisserie chicken they offer at the deli is pretty good too. I am not generally one to review grocery stores, but I also felt the 1 star review was undeserved. I really like Martin's in general and this Martin's in particular. They have a nice selection of specialty cheese, deli meats, and some ethnic food items also. Coming from the Bible Belt I am still amazed that you can get WINE in the grocery store, let alone good wine. Customer service is their strong suit in my not so humble opinion. You know how you go to Wal-Mart and every single person you deal with acts like they'd rather be anywhere else than right there? I'm sure Martin's has their share of disgruntled employees too but my experiences have always been good. The ladies in the deli are always helpful and the checkers are friendly, too. Do their groceries cost more than Wal-Mart's? Yes, but they're fresher and better quality, which is important to me. It's been my experience that you get what you pay for. I'll pay a little extra for the privilege of not wanting to shoot myself in the face by the time I'm done with the grocery shopping. And by the way, I LOVE their fried chicken. Yum. read more

I don't know how Nanette can give this martins only 1 star. Of course it's not as cheap as wallmart or aldi, but they actually have employees that get paid a living wage and are happy to help customers. This store is very clean and has an excellent selection of meats and produce. If you are looking for hard to find ingredience for a recipe you will most likely be able to find it here. They carry a decent selection of wine and craft beer. Need a bottle of bubbly for a special night? Veuve and moet are available. Cheese department is very good as well. Purchased manchego and Maytag blue for a party recently. Check out lanes can get crowded when the notre dame students are in session, but they are usually staffed to handle the crowds. Martins is very similar to a Safeway. This particular location is clean and well stocked. The prices are fine given its close location to the University. However, my main gripe with this store and other Martins is the 'maze' you have to walk through to get your produce. The parking lot is also chaotic with their weird mini stop signs that no one ever sees and people drive around like they own the place. Checkout staff is always nice and they always give you a cart, which is a nice touch especially since they are smaller than what I am used too....I'm not a big fan of the huge grocery carts because I find myself buying more than I need. read more

Martins used to be a little more family friendly, but since the remodel of the South Bend Ave location, they expanded the deli and quick service food a lot and reduced selection in rhe main grocery area-- I assume to cater to the Domer contingency. It rivals Publix, Wegmans, HEB and all the other great supermarkets in the USA in terms of selection/assortment, meat and produce quality, Deli serve and most importantly customer service. I love grocery shopping here at this location and the granger location. I like their selection. I love their sushi chefs. If you get there before 3pm the chefs will make whatever sushi or sushi combinations you want. They have a lot of gourmet items and even some exotic items like octopus in their seafood/ meat department. Plus many more exotic items or specialty items in other isles of the store. Also you can sip on a frappacino from Starbucks while you shop. Not to mention I love their sandwich deli. You get great paninis and soups for way less than goin to panera bread, & they taste just as good. Oh not to mention their gelato..... the chocolate gelato is like eating a gourmet brownie! Yum. I like shopping there, but Martins is pricey compared to other grocery stores. But if you have the extra money to splurge then go for it. I am very concerned about the behavior of a woman who works in your Human Resources department. Her name is Sara Holston. She was attacking another woman on Facebook, calling her a whore, along with many other names, and when I told her that the behavior was sad and that martins wouldn't like this behavior of one of their employees, she made a comment that what she does on social media doesn't effect her job and that she cannot be in trouble and told me to shut up. I am very disappointed in this behavior and suggest someone has a stern talking to her. I am very disappointed that a woman like this works for martins. I only give 1 star because the app does not have a possible lower rating. Not only is the price of their inferior to mid quality food substantially above the cost of premium goods in the city of Chicago, their service is absolutely despicable. Going to the deli at this pseudo-market is almost as un-deightful an experience as talking with my ex girlfriend. The neigh on incompetent deli employee who took my order, genuinely was confused when she started weighing out a meat I never even indicated I wanted and I asked her to stop and weigh out the meat I had asked for. She even verbally indicated her chagrin to the other disgruntled employee behind the line. The best steak they have available for purchase from their butcher is around $17/lb and I would say that it is the quality of a $7/lb Walmart steak. It was similar to eating gristle and I had to throw the remainder away. Finally, the employees that they have so strategically decided should run their "express" check out line are of the speed of a Walmart greeter. I saw another regular checkout line go through 3 people with carts full of items in the time it took the cashier to ring up $7.46 of items from the customer in front of me. This is abominable!! A big thank-you to the Martin's floral team for their help with my wedding! We ordered tulips for the tables and bridal bouquet, and it all went very perfectly with their incredible helpfulness! Very affordable. They were able to get gorgeous colors for us, and accommodated some really specific requests (eg: they got pink tulips with the ruffled white edges! and orange tulips with yellow edges!). Good advice on when to plan the delivery and how to store the flowers to keep them fresh. I thought that DIY wedding flowers would be stressful, but they made it easy and it became the highlight of our celebration! read more

Purchased 2 packages of cood fillets from the frozen food section. Thawed one for supper and while waiting for it to thaw, noticed a lot of water in the package. Drained it out and waited for the thawing to finish. Found considerable water again in the package. Several days later went through the same process only this time, weighed the water content of the package and to my shock, there was 32% of the total weight in just water. Most expensive water I have ever purchased. Item 2, purchased some peaches that were from the Southern States. Knowing they were a little green, left them to ripen for 3 days. Cut one up for my cereal this morning and found they are totally tasteless, non juicy and very stringy. This is the last time I will spend my money on produce from Martins. They should test their food before they sell it or stop knowingly screwing their customers. read more

Grabbed some groceries while in town for a game. The initial maze is a bit confusing, as the more traditional aisles are towards the registers. This store was well stocked with similar prices to Safeway. Extremely friendly customer service. Roger in the wine department was very helpful and offered fantastic selections while not trying to upswell me things beyond my budget. Close to campus. read more
