It used to be a great grocery store to go to , but then Walmart across the street closed. Then the riff raff from Walmart started going to Meijer. Theft went up which then they had to get security cameras put up in parking lot and extra security in store. Twice within a month I saw people stealing. First time some thug walking out with his arms full of beer and liquor. Second time two carts full of groceries and toys. Just walking right out like it's what they were supposed to do. It's probably why Walmart had to close. Theft. Meijer is now dirtier than it used to be. It's never stocked well. The produce department is sub par. And there's just loud and obnoxious people all over. I will say that the lady that is in charge of self check out is great. The people at the deli counter are nice as well. read more

A year ago I found this leech in my bag of snow crab. Immediately I threw the crab away and contacted customer service. The store manager was very insulting and expected me to dig out the crab from the trash along with the leech and bring it in for it to be considered for a return. Customer service was a joke but after spending hours arguing with them, I decided it wasn't worth my time to continue trying to get my $20 back. Aside from feeling sick from pulling LEECHES out of my bag of food, I felt sick from the rage-inducing experience with customer service. Today I found Meijer's gas station charged me too much for the gasoline I pumped and were uncooperative helping me overturn the second charge. Their advice was to dispute the claim with my bank. I wish I could invoice Meijer for the time I wasted and the energy spent in pursuit of $40. You'd think $40 would be worth refunding to keep a customer... My advice: pick literally ANY OTHER Meijer. It's worth paying even a couple extra cents/gallon to not go through what I just went through. And make sure you hold onto your rotting fish meat so you can get refunded! read more

All Meijer stores are so terrible about their sale prices. I'm so tired of trying to purchase a sale item that doesn't ring up at the correct price. The cashiers are typically no help and I'm absolutely not going to spend my time going to customer service, so I always end up just putting the items back. I've been told I should take a pic of the sale sign, but it shouldn't be on me to prove the price that they're advertising. I'll just go elsewhere. read more

September 13, 2024 11:45 am. Couldn't get the clerk watching the self checkout to come and give us help when the machine wouldn't allow us to pay for our groceries. She kept going over to other red lit machines that had come on after us. She even went to the side and started talking to a customer on the other side of the barrier. Finally, she headed our way but veered off and then helped someone on the across from me. After that, she turned to walk away even though I motioned to her that I needed help. Totally ignored me and walked in the opposite direction. I yelled as loud as I could that I needed help. She still ignored me. At that point I was considering leaving all my bagged groceries and going across the street to the Walmart when a short woman approached from the opposite direction. I thought she was another clerk coming to help. Oh no. She said she was a manger and didn't appreciate me "yelling" at her employee. I told her I wouldn't have had to yell. "Hey lady, I need help here" if she hadn't kept avoiding us. Do you think she would have asked me first if there was a problem or if she could help me? No. All she kept saying was that "yelled" at her worker and she didn't appreciate it and didn't want it to happen again. I told her it wouldn't have happened the first time if the woman wouldn't socialize and put red lights in the wrong priority only doing the ones closest to her. She didn't care about any of that. She kept harping on me about raising my voice, which I had to do because it was crowded, noisy and the woman had turned her back on me once again and was walking away. Her focus should have been to help me, give the woman some help since she was incapable of tracking the proper sequence of red lights or giving the employee some kind off remedial training or a talking to. Everything was backwards and I was the villain not the injured party. Somehow my machine started working properly out of the blue and I was able to complete my purchase and leave. Thank God. I have used this Meijers before when in that area, but no more. read more

We ordered a birthday cake a full week ahead of time and when we went to pick it up it wasn't even baked yet! Our receipt clearly said what kind of cake we wanted but the bakery claimed they had no details. They also claimed they tried to call but no one ever called here. I rarely shop at this Meijer, and when I do it is usually just running in to get something while my son is at ball practice. I am giving it 4 stars because they have a pretty nicely stocked sporting goods department. In particular the Fishing Gear is well appointed and the displays are always faced and stocked well. Sadly I have to give them 1 star. For years I've been coming here with little to no problems, nothing to complain about. But they have remodeled and have removed the no limit self checkout lanes. Of course they haven't staffed more lanes. That's a loss of 4 lanes. The lines now are just ridiculous! I waited once and had thawed frozen items & warm cold items. I have several patients who need to use Lactose free products. Lactaid cottage cheese is always needed. Seems however, the one tiny section where it is displayed, is always empty. No good asking the people working there if there is some in the back. They will not help. I love the store but some products really get depleted quickly apparently. Meijer's get an education about how many of us need this kind of product. There is always plenty of milk, but no cottage cheese, and it is a staple for many of us. You were out again today, and no one would look in the back. I live 40 minutes away, it is not a quick trip just to see if you have stocked your shelves yet. No other grocery around carries it, I have checked. I am very disappointed in how this product is being carried. read more

This Meijer use to be fairly responsive to customer service but not anymore. Not sure why you build a store with 26 check out lanes when you only staff 50% at most. The only bright I spot was a new cashier Myra S, (I highly recommend she take her smile to a new employer). What? Nobody has reviewed this yet?! The Shame South Bend. I thought I had but I guess it was the other location technically in Mishawaka. I was here very recently-- it brought back really great memories and how much I miss Meijer. It's like Wal-mart but not as trashy. I like the one stop shopping (except for clothes- I just can't unless someone barfed on me? and it's an emergency) The Fred Meyer of the midwest as I like to think of it. Pretty much always clean, they've got their act together here, it's cheap- I always end up with more than what I intended to buy but Indiana prices are so darn cheap! *Sigh, I love this location and I go down almost every aisle when I visit. Great kitchen and cookware department as always. I bought some cute little leaf bowls for dipping sauces perfect for my homemade dumplings. I hate to admit it, but I really like Meijer stores. They don't have the negative pall of Walmart, you know, the stuff they say about how they don't pay people all of their hours and stuff, plus, they are closer to my house. I like the fact that they mark down some bakery items and vegetables that are about to get overripe or stale.Martins throws the stuff out.And they are very much lower priced than Martins. I've always have been a Meijer's girl, and recently they revamped the store with some nice updates. In some ways it's been a good thing and there's some things this location needs to work on. The positive improvements have been the sushi bar. FINALLY Meijer has gotten a sushi bar!!! It's about time!! Once they were out of the kind of sushi I like and the sushi chef was kind and made some sushi just for me. Sweet!! Moreover their clothing department looks better than ever with a modern and trendy vibe. But the down side to this location is the stocking issues, wait times, and a ridiculously high volume of customers throughout the day. It's good for their business but bad for the customers when the store is packed and there's never enough lanes open to check people out, so people can be on their way. Also since the store's revamp (probably due to the high volume of customers) Meijer has stocking issues, they cant keep certain items on the shelves very long. I do like shopping at Meijer they have everything I need and a nice selection but with the high volume of customers and long lines I don't shop there as much. read more
