was in the area so we finally came here. soon as h walk in you feel like your in a tiny grandmothers home. . we ordered a wood burning margarita pizza. was cooked good but still soggy. wasn't bad. sauce is good. just soggy we shared a chicken parmigiana. comes with a piece of garlic bread. had to order side of pasta. the marinara is very good very old school. service ok. they give you tiny paper plates to use and cheapest napkins. prices are very reasonable read more

Such a staple in these parts having been here for DECADES. Who doesn't like a brick oven pizza?!? It's a time capsule of family style pizza parlor that's just scrumptious. I do appreciate the Americana mom and pop vibe of the restaurant and the service. It gives such warm nostalgia while enjoying good pizza. read more

The last time I went to this local landmark was about 25 years ago. As a resident of Rockland for 40 years, Martio's was the go to Pizza spot. Simple decent island food. It's a local favorite but some of the dishes are close to fast food now. The pizza is still very good. Though it's not the same Martio's of the late 80s it's still Worth the visit to try out read more

Back in the early 90s folk used to rave about this place. The lack of parking and the cutesy outside kept me away, plus there were excellent pizza places everywhere back then. Cut to this week when I tried them for take out. Large pie was fine, flavor and proportions of cheese to sauce to crust were fine, but not quite crispy enough. Been here many times but today disappointed. Order brick oven pizza it was a floppy jelopy should be crisp also ordered spaghetti and meatballs the meatballs were great but spaghetti made Al dente look like mush very very undercooked they are better maybe an off night. read more

i love pizza, yet its so hard to find a good slice. As i have lives in the area for a very long time I don't remember ever coming here. Today i stopped and ordered a slice and an eggplant parm platter and a glass of chainti.i love eggplant parm as much as i love pizza. The oizza was very very good. thin crust a nice balance of cheese and sauce and the bottom of the slice was cooked giving it a nice crunch. I would definitely come back for the pizza. my eggplant parm came out in a silver casserole dish with two nice size pieces of garlic bread. eggplant parm is tough to fet right, and this one was very close. Ive been to Italians restaurant that charge way more than double of what they charge here ($12.50), and they dont compare to how good Martios is. Ambiance, i dont think has changed i tne 67 years its been here. classic dark wood, tiffany like lamps old artifacts on the walls and a few neon signs. classic but nice. you step back in time. Service, waitress were excellent. very pleasant. Good food, good prices, great service, a glass of wine for $6.25, cant beat it read more

Pretty good pizza place I walk up to as a detour from my commute. Its a great place to distress or relax while only being a block away from the train station. When I come here I usually get the subs over the pizza simply because its just myself commuting from work. The subs are really nice though I would just the meatball parmigiana 9 out of 10 times. There is just something that "works" with a meatball over other choices. Besides the food I think what makes this a relaxing place is the theming. You got your neon signs, wall hangings and wooden furniture which makes this feel old timey yet distinctly Italian. I feel like this place could be in a Edward Hopper painting or something. read more

Maybe time has softened my recollection of the place but this hometown favorite still delivers the best tasting pizza that I've ever had. Their Neapolitan pie is amazing but it's their Sicilian with mushrooms and anchovies that cranks the dial on taste to "11" I've made far longer trips for far less reason and It still amazes me that with world-class pizza spinners so close, the corporate pizza chains still thrive - I suspect the convenience of delivery easily trumps authenticity. Aesthetic and vintage joint that seems to be operating their pizza restaurant out of what was an old school movie theatre. Their pizzas are made out of a fire oven that gets the crust nice and crispy. Each slice a little shy of $3 and was heated up quickly in a brick oven. Service was friendly and the business appeared to adhere to COVID guidelines wearing masks and providing sanitizer. This location looks like it would be a really cute date spot but for now, will settle on just taking a few slices to go. There are some parking spots on the street and it is easy to order ahead and just pick up. Interior: large, good for small and big groups. Dim lighting with great wood work embedded into the wall Brick oven pizza- We got this with pepperoni, sausage, and peppers. This came hot lightly burned around the edges ( this is how the brick oven pizza is suppose to be) the dough was soft with the perfect amount of each topping. Service: so fast! We were in and out within 20 minutes. They would always come in and check on us Unfortunately my camera was glitching when I took the picture of the pizza so it came out blurry and unclear. I brought my friend to Martio's Pizza for a small birthday outing on a Thursday night. Walking in, it has a nice, older charm to it. We were able to get a booth on the side of the restaurant and every other table was filled. Within the small space, what was about 30 people sounded like 80, but it only added to the atmosphere somehow. I was really excited to try their gluten-free pizza, so we put in our orders and opted for a glass of wine each. The pizzas came out and they looked absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and smelled heavenly. My gluten-free pizza was wonderful and I had to restrain myself from eating more of the slices than I should. I definitely have to recommend their gf pie and my friend said her regular crust was great, Martio's is a must, so grab a slice of happiness. read more

Ok, went to high school in Nanuet NY, and had to take a final pizza tour. My parents are selling their house and moving to Florida. Today was the estate sale. Of course I stopped by. This is hands down, THE BEST pizza joint in Nanuet and possibly LoHud. Worth a train ride or drive from the tri-state area. Nothing has changed in decades and I am thrilled about that. Too many memories here which adds to my affinity for this establishment. Let's start with charred crust. And then pepperoni "cups" which curl up with sweet delicious dobs of oil. Their Pasta Fagioli is Amazing and comes with garlic bread but, the pizza is average at best. My instincts told me, not a place for sandwiches. I gave it a shot anyway and was brutally disappointed! The premier pie in Rockland County and in the same class as any elite pizzeria in Manhattan or Brooklyn. The undercarriage is a true treat. The pie is always cooked to well done. Piping hot when you eat inside, it cannot be matched. I'm on year 35 of eating Martios'. Thank the good lord baby Jesus for its existence every time! I grew up on Martio's Pizza. The nostalgia is as delicious as their pizza, the family have managed to maintain their own pizza identity and continue to supply the people with what they do best. I haven't lived in Nanuet for several decades now, but it still is one of the deepest core memories for me growing up. The big wood filled room, eating pizza or splitting a bowl of pasta fagioli ... whenever I'm nearby I make sure to stop. Every time someone I know mentions that they're are headed in that area, I always point them to Martio's, no one has left unsatisfied yet. read more

Very good pizza, arguably the best around, BUT..... the service is horrible. Waitresses are young, inexperienced and untrained. Waited almost 15 minutes after being seated with menus for someone to take our order. We kept looking over at the 'bar' area where we saw two of the young waitresses busily tapping text messages on their phones. This should not be permitted during working hours when the place is busy. I don't blame the young women, I blame the owners for not training them properly at this service oriented business. They're quick to clear a table but never look around to see if another patron needs anything. I hope another pizza parlor learns how to make a pizza as good as Martio's so we can say 'ciao' to this establishment. read more

Established in 1958.

Established in 1958, Martio's Ole' Time Pizza Parlour has been an integral part of the Rockland County community. It was opened by Frank 'Martio' Colandrea in Spring Valley, New York in 1958 - and moved to Nanuet in the early 70's with his wife Lois and 5 children. Martio's Pizza has remained in the family for three generations, and we only have our customers to thank! Located in a historic building that once housed the area's Library, Barber Shop and Grocery Store, it gives the customer an authentic, true-to-the-community dining experience. A lot of the decor is sourced from around the world; with an actual station light pole from Grand Central Station (circa early 20th Century), a ticket booth from a local historic theater, and a custom built brick oven imported from Italy! Martio's Pizza was, and still is Rockland County's first wood-burning brickoven. Many places use faux brick exteriors that utilize gas as a source of heat...while others use coal. They have a variety of choices from cupcakes to brownies to pie to cookies, even bars. The only thing I experienced through this though was that I ordered the brownies they weren't available and I wasn't told until the order got to the house so maybe just a suggestion to the business maybe make I would say cookies medium size and put two cookies there just to make it up of something that was supposed to be ordered. Just have it on the side again just a suggestion, but I recommend it and this is how I found out about this place was because of DoorDash and just so you're aware, DoorDash was able to refund me the for the brownies that I bought

First thing that hits you is that amazing baked goods smell. That is quickly followed by a pleasant greeting from the owners. Definitely taking pride in their place. They gave good recommendations. I went with the Americano that featured the Guatemalan coffee beans and added a cookie and a sweet roll. The coffee was excellent, smooth and flavorful. Enjoyed both baked goods for dessert later in the evening, very fresh and not overly sweet. Will certainly return to Ixchel!
