My husband tried pepian de pollo, it was fantastic. My Mom and I shared the mixed grilled platter he steak on the mixed grilled platter was amazing, the pork and chicken were ok. We also ordered the seafood soup which had calamari, prawns and a piece of crab. Such a fun casual place, with good strong drinks too! Highly recommended!

Peter isn't lying; the pants are tight, but so is the food. I've only had the traditional fare (papusas are huge and cheap, guacamole has eggs in it) but they also serve some strange (for the location) stuff like chicken parmesan. I suggest sticking to the comidas authenticas. LOL. Don't sleep on the salchipapas. Yeah, it's just hot dogs and french fries, but it's guaranteed the best damned hot dogs and french fries you will EVER have. Service staff is exceptionally nice and attentive, even with the language barrier. This place bleeds cool and delicious in the left ventricle of Rockland. Don't be foolish. Eat here. Now.

This was really the only place open late night in the area. Got the pork pupusa and the cheese pupusa. They were both very good and I liked them with the salsa that came with the chips. They were also a good size. Very good value for $2. Got the guacamole too and did not like it. There were eggs inside and it really tasted like egg salad with some avocado mixed in. I would not recommend it. Also, the server informed me that they did not have red wine or some of the menu items we wanted to order which was disappointing.

Authentic Taste of El Salvador - A Hidden Gem…read more We were on the hunt for authentic pupusas and struck gold with this small, hole-in-the-wall spot that delivers big on flavor and tradition. With an extensive menu full of classic Salvadoran options, we ultimately chose the pupusas revueltas, filled with chicharrón (pork rinds), frijoles (beans), and cheese. They were freshly made, so we did wait about 35 minutes--but it was absolutely worth it for the taste and quality. The accompanying green and red sauces were excellent complements, though a word to the wise: the red sauce (which is more orange in color) packs serious heat. If you love spicy food, you're in for a treat--but it might deserve a little PSA for the uninitiated! They also offer a wide selection of aguas frescas. I tried the jamaica (hibiscus juice), and it was refreshing and flavorful. The prices are very affordable, the portions generous, and beyond pupusas, the restaurant offers a variety of Salvadoran snacks, candies, chips, and even ice cream--perfect for anyone wanting to relive the flavors of home. A special thanks to Brenda, who curated a playlist of classic cumbia music that gave the whole experience a warm and nostalgic vibe. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone craving authentic Salvadoran food.

They have a nice selection of pupusas, plus a full menu of entrees, an assortment of drinks, and a few dessert options. I ordered two pupusas revueltas, atol de elote, and tres leches cake. The pupusas were perfect, crisp with delicious filling. They're served with a fresh slaw and tasty sauce. The atol de elote was fantastic, served piping hot, it featured sweet corn flavor and a great mouthfeel. The tres leches cake was a wonderful version, the icing was great and the cake texture was perfect to absorb just the right amount of "leches". Prices were very reasonable. Looking forward to returning for more of the same dishes and to try the entrees!

The food is good. It's not fancy, and that should keep the snobs away, but it has the essential combination of scent, visuals, taste and the inner warmth a cook who loves a dish can make. You can do the El Typico half chicken, tacos which my sons say are rocking, steak platters in all their various combinations, and these wee Jammie cake style pupusa things. A novelty for me, very popular in Latin America apparently, they are enclosed buckwheat pancakes with a choice of fillings. Some of which you've never heard of, so try them. This is grass roots cooking, and I am a fan. In a low sodium World, the tropical propensity for salt is punkette, the spice combinations are unfamiliar but pleasing. Part of the meal I ate was a little dry, but that's what the excellent salsa is for, and everyone at the table is coming back. There is no booze, which is a good thing in working mens establishments playing football, and the while the drinks selection is authentic it is limited. Expect to pay fifteen bucks a head per adult, leaving plenty of opportunity for a jumbo tip. Don't go if you are stuck up.

The pupusas were so delicious, cheap and freshly made. I called ahead of time to order and they were ready, neatly packed and hot when I arrived. Each pupusa costs $3 so the whole order of 5 came out to $15 - such a steal! They even throw in some curtido salad and sauces at no additional charge. Their curtido is a little different from the traditional. They add beets to theirs which is unique. For pupusas my husband ordered 3 - 1 jalapeño and cheese and 2 bean. I had 2 of the loroco and cheese. The cheese they use is so delicious! The jalapeño cheese, according to my husband, knocked it out of the park. I loved the loroco and cheese too. I thought the dough was nice and soft with a neutral taste. I like my dough a little more sweet than they make it but it was still good for me. We didn't realize the bean pupusa doesn't have cheese (you can request bean and cheese though) so those were a little on the dryer side but still very flavorful, especially when dipped in the sauces. Definitely adding this place to our takeout rotation. Highly recommend! 5/5
