Does anyone know where I could get old records from the sorrento Valley clinic ? I called Scripps and they told me he is fully retired now.

If you have awful vision like I do, then you understand the frustration that comes with not being able to see clearly or fully. Thankfully, I have this place to fall back on. I will always come back because they make sure that I'm set and have what I need. I have been coming here for almost two years, and this has been the only optometrist that I actually trust. I'm always super skeptical when it comes to healthcare professionals since I've had so many horrible experiences. But this place is awesome! It MIGHT be because of Debbie (she helps at the front), but she never fails to make me feel appreciated as a customer. If I ever need anything or something has happened to my contacts, she is so fast in helping me out. I had my glasses done here as well and it's hard for me to have glasses because I have astigmatism as well. I let them know I couldn't see very well with my new glasses, and they were very quick to address it. It wasn't their fault (one second I see well, the next I don't) but it was nice to have an optometrist be receptive to my concerns. read more

I could not ask for a better experience in getting an eye exam. Having recently moved to the area, I put off tracking down a new optometrist till I absolutely had to, but I am glad I eventually booked an appointment here. The staff were all very friendly, and it was smooth sailing all the way. Handling my insurance was a breeze, even though I didn't have my number available off the top of my head. They were able to track it down with the usual details, and had no issues. Dr. Cheng was on hand for my exam, and was likely the best optometrists I've had. Many eye exams seem to be just a long list of instructions that culminate in a few numbers being written down on a prescription, without much insight into what's happening, but not so here. She gave feedback all the while, letting me know what checked out and what was being looked for, plus advice on general eye care that I had never been told previously. I left with not only my updated prescription, but also a better idea of how my vision is really doing, for which I have her to thank. Overall, I would highly recommend the fine folks at Sorrento Valley Optometry, and will be making this my new spot for eye care. read more

DON'T go here! These guys will not provide the full info and that will eventually take the exams more than once (Another stupid way of making money)! They will not let you know what types of tests are needed and that specific results are good for only a few prescriptions. Will conduct tests without revealing the details to you and will charge you more than expected. The doctor is very rude if you ask questions and try to get clarity. read more

I came here late Feb. 2012 for an eye exam and had a great experience. My only gripe is that the selection of eye glasses is rather small. I have seen both Dr. Weitzman and Ambrose in the past 3 years and can say they are both very professional. They do not dilate your eyes for an eye exam here. read more

This is my second time visiting for a contact fitting and I'd say this has to be the best optometrist I've been to in ages. The staff was courteous, friendly and had all my information ready when I arrived. The optometrist was able to answer all my questions regarding the tests involved and the health of my eyes. Usually prices of "one a day" contacts are pretty steep but the deal they were able to give me, along with my insurance, were better than I had received at Costco. My total time at the appointment was about 30 minutes, perfect for someone on their lunch break. Overall I highly recommend this place if you are on the hunt for a great eye exam ! read more

Dr. Weitzman and the Sorrento Valley Optometric Center are great! I wanted an eye exam, new lenses for my existing frames, and two boxes of contacts for the rare times when I wear them. Also, I needed same day replacement of the lenses in my existing frames. Also, I wanted to maximize my VSP insurance and minimize my out of pocket expenses. If you've ever tried to understand the VSP coverage rules, then you know that figuring out how to make the best of it is not easy. I first tried Lenscrafters because they have one hour turn-around on lenses. But I found out that they are out-of-network for VSP, and were completely unhelpful on the insurance. Also, after I compared prices, I figured out that Lenscrafters is way, way expensive, and that's probably why they are out-of-network for VSP. Anyway, I stopped by Sorrento Valley Optometric Center because it's close to work. The nice technician who waited on me figured out the VSP insurance algorithms for me, gave a great price on the part that wasn't covered by insurance, and had me in an eye exam with Dr. Weitzman in 10 minutes. They ordered the new lenses and had them by the next day. They only needed to keep my frames for a couple hours to change out the lenses. Everybody there is friendly, professional, and seem to really care. I've been wearing glasses for 30 years, and this is the best experience I've ever had. The office is near the Sorrento Valley food court, so it's very convenient for anyone who works in Sorrento Valley or lives in Mira Mesa. read more

I am a long time customer - more than 5 years! The shop is small and welcoming. I am always impressed when I visit. Excellent exams, great selection of everyday and high-end frames and sunglasses, and nice customer service. Other shops are clearly in second place. More people seem to visit midday maybe due to its close proximity to Qualcomm. read more

I used to go to LensCrafters for my eye exams and glasses. Kind of a default choice, as it may. After last time I went, where it took two weeks to make my fairly common lenses and a few other problems, I decided to try another place for my vision needs. It was also time for another eye exam anyway, and my prescription sunglasses had broken a few days ago, so why not? I called and made an appointment and was pleased to find that I could get in the next day during lunch, which worked perfectly for me. I figured that I could hide at work after getting my eyes dilated until the drops wore off. The next day I get there 5 minutes early and the optometrist took me in early. Always a plus. :D The exam was normal enough. I hate that stupid airpuff machine, but who doesn't? Anyway, the optometrist was very nice, as well as the rest of the office staff. I had a lot more help in choosing new frames for sunglasses than I ever got at LensCrafters, and the price was reasonable with my vision insurance too. I decided to get my regular glasses' lenses swapped out, too, and they'll be able to do it in a few hours once the lenses come in. In my opinion, this place is a very well kept secret when it comes to eye care. :) read more

I have been going to the Sorrento Valley Optomoetric Center for years, and they are great! They are very thorough and will answer any questions you might have. They are very friendly. They have been great with my optometric needs, and their prices are very low. I have tried other places in the neighborhood in the past, and the Sorrento Valley Optometric Center is the best! I even had one time when my eyes were bothering me, and Dr. Weitzman let me just walk in and he took a look for free. I felt really bad about it, and offered to pay, but he said that may be I can give that money to my favorite charity. This place is the best! read more

Excellent professional, very knowledgeable and conservative in his treatment (held back on strengthening my contacts in favor of working forward in increments to save my eyes). Do not come here. Came in for a contact lens fitting. He did not have the brand I requested with the correct axis that I needed. Instead under sold me a pair of cheaper lens that are way too big for my eyes. When I had asked if he could write me a script for the brand I liked with the axis that fitted me better, he refused and told me to pay for an extra fitting. "Dr" Weitzman is the most unpersonable optometrist I have ever met. I'm glad my insurance will restart next month otherwise, what a waste of a trip to the eye doctor. read more

The stuff sold me displayed frame glasses for full price. When I came to pick them up the lady told me that this is the way they sell frames. The frame was scratched and looked used, but the main issues they never told me upfront that what I see is what I get. I got very disappointed!!!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Marvin Weitzman for over 10 years. I always receive good service from him and his staff. One of the most unique features of this office is how flexible they are (even open Saturday mornings until noon). I've called and scheduled an appointment with less than 1 hour notice and sometimes decided to walk in and get an exam and they never hesitate to accommodate me. They work well with my insurance and give me the net cost without any sales pitches or unnecessary up sales on glasses or frames. Highly recommended for all your eye care needs. read more

After the eye exam today, which went peacefully and quietly, Dr. Marvin Weitzman was trying to fit me with contact lens without asking me. The fitting will not be covered by my insurance. After I told him I don't want to get fitted for contact lens because I have to pay for it and I am happy with the kind I have now. He explained to me that he would not give me a prescription for me unless I get fitted. I then told him I don't want to pay for the fitting, it's OK to just get the prescription for the eye glasses but not the contacts. He simply told me, he "does not see it's a fit between us", and asked me to be out of his office. I asked if he is going to file an insurance claim for the eye exam he's done on me, he said no, his words were"I will tell you what, I will suggest you to see other people". When I asked to have my profile information and insurance information back, he only returned my personal information back, but refused to give me back my insurance information. He said"Any doctor will be able to find this information, I will just shred it later". I insisted on getting back my insurance information, he then said "I don't want to talk to you anymore, now get out of my office, do you understand". This optometrist's office is at a convenient location,and all the previous reviews on yelp were positive, which made me think it's a nice place to go for a lunch time eye exam. I was surprised to know that I could get a same day appointment, and I think my experience already explained why he does not have a busy schedule at such a convenient location. Facts: 1. Dr. Marvin Weizman was trying to charge me without my knowing, 2. Dr. Marvin Weizman refused to give me my prescription for eye glasses because I did not want contact lens fitting, 3. Dr. Marvin Weizman refused to return back my insurance information after he told me he was not going to file an insurance claim. 4. Dr. Marvin Weizmann is very rude and unprofessional. My wife, Jo had purchased a pair of glasses fron Lens Crafters about a two years ago. Recently she bent them so that they did not fit well. She retirned to get them adjusted, only to be told that they were not repairable. I suggested that she get a second opinion. We stopped at Sorrento Valley Optometric one Saturday morning, and sure enough, Scott Rieker, the Optician, spent about fifteen minutes and had them adjusted again for good vision. Our whole family is under the wonderful care of Dr. Weitzman and his amazing staff Scott and Debra since over 16 years. He is an incredible optometrist with years of experience and knowledge, very informative, never rushes you and answers all your concerns, He stocks a great selection of frames, regular to top designers and he guides you towards the perfect style and budget for you. The quality of his lenses are top of the line. He also is very good with kids! Our sons were 8 when they needed their first pair of glasses, he put them so at ease with the whole process, followed by years of guidance finding the right sport glasses for soccer as well as their first set of contacts. I have been seeing Dr. Weitzman for over 15 years now. That's one thing unique about him, he knows how to keep people coming back. During my first 2 years in college in another state I went to a general discount place like Walmart and Costco for my exams and frames, but it was not the same care or quality. When I came back to San Diego and visited his offices it made me realize why I continue to come back. Unlike other places he takes the time and gives quality care. If there was ever a problem with my contacts or lenses he would make a great effort to see it resolved. He really takes the time, whether I have an eye exam, eye irritation, or if I simply can't decide what frame to choose. He is a great doctor and even though money is tight I will still continue to go to him...he is even understanding about that and has good recommendations. read more

I originally started coming here 2 years ago because it was close to my office for convenience, but bow am I glad I did. Dr. Weitzman is awesome and very patient with me. I have very sensitive eyes and have had to come here last minute on numerous occasions. They have always fit me in even last minute. Ive been in here for scratched eyes, eye infections, you name it. They are very quick about have your contacts and our glasses ready for you. Prices are also very affordable. Weitzman is very informative on the right contacts, solution and whatever I need to take care of my sensitive eyes and is also generous with samples and such. I stumbled onto the location because I work close by and needed glasses for an upcoming DMV drivers license renewal. His assistant happened to be out, so he was covering the front desk as well as doing the exams. He was so gracious and polite, it made an immediate positive impression on me. Dr Weitzman is a thorough professional who clearly knows his craft and cares for his patient's well being. He is one of the kindest doctors I've ever met. I have been going to SVOC for years. I have to say that I really love the non-sales approach they take to checking my eyes. I have felt at other places that they are constantly trying to sell me some different tests, get me onto some research project or pressuring me to buy really expensive frames. At SVOC I feel like they are more concerned about my eye health than about selling me. I appreciate the honest and direct approach that Dr. Weitzman has, and Scott who is always available to fit and fix my eyeglasses. read more

This is a small office, but what I really liked was that although they didn't have a large amount of frames (some places I've been two have easily thousands of frames..) there is enough variety in the styles and prices that it's easy to find something that works with you. I'm not sure I actually saw Dr. Weitzman since I think there was another optician there, but anyways my experience was pretty nice. The only minor trouble I had was I wanted to make sure they took my insurance, but they took a long time to get back to me on that. The people there are really nice, and they don't pressure you to buy anything! read more

Sorrento Valley Optometric is a find! Dr. Weitzman and his staff are experienced, careful, and take their time with each and every patient. They have all the modern optometric technology, but maintain the old style feeling. Patient care is what drives this business, not money.This is NOT a drive through operation! Dr. Weitzman is a family practitioner, and every visit has been excellent from start to finish. The fact that his loyal and excellent staff have been with him for many years supports our confidence in him. His prices for consultations, glasses and contacts are also extremely competitive - we did our research! He has treated our son and relatives with amazing care. They spent more than an hour helping our son learn how to put his new contacts in! This was followed by a checkup. Other things that we really like about this practice are the location, very centrally located and easy to get to in Sorrento Valley, the very friendly and old style atmosphere, and amazing selection of frames. The lady there doesn't want to check the price of a pair of certain sunglasses after my insurance for me if I'm not going to order it. She said she doesn't want to spend time and effort if I'm still comparing with other optometry stores. This is a ridiculous and unprofessional working attitude towards customs.
