A nice find for us, everytime we have been by the place (night time) they have been closed. Today was our day, three of us ate and all enjoyed our selections. A Reuben sanwich, cuban sanwich, springhill turkey and bacon sandwich. All of us enjoyed our sandwich. I was apprehensive about the cuban sandwich and Bob said many people like it, I told him my roots are in Miami Florida the heart of little Havana. He said the bread would not be exact as the bread is hard to get up here. He was correct, the bread was tasty though and the sandwich was tasty. The place was just getting started for the day but pretty busy at Noon on Saturday and a little on the quiet side. Everyone here was very friendly, Bob even came by to see how the cuban sanwich tasted. A great service touch point. We will be back. read more

This is a order at the counter pick up your drink and number and they bring your order to the table. I had the Cosmopolitan and the pasta salad has a dressing that is unique, the poppyseed on the fruit is my favorite but the chicken salad today I have to say - I have had better elsewhere. My friend had the egg salad and right away I noticed it was runny - too much mayo or something. My friend said it was so so and he would not order again. I love me a good grilled cheese sandwich and the Big kid grilled cheese sandwich did not disappoint. It had 3 types of cheeses, provolone, Swiss, and cheddar with I think pickled red onions, fresh cut tomatoes and a pesto vinaigrette and boy oh boy this was a treat for my tastebuds. I wish they had tomato soup to go with it but then I probably would have died from food heaven. Try this sandwich you won't be disappointed. I also ordered a few more sandwiches. The French dip no cheese or onions for my daughter and the meat tasted like they just pulled it out the oven and not processed at all, she had the broccoli cheddar soup instead of chips and she drank it literally picked up the cup and drank it.... So it's easy to assume she liked it! For the hubby- The Shirley smoked turkey and provolone cheese with a homemade honey mustard. He had never had a homemade honey mustard so it caught his tastebuds off guard but he said it was different but still good. He is not a big mustard fan unless it's plain yellow mustard but he said he would eat the sandwich again. He ordered the fruit as his side and it was all very fresh and surprisingly a great portion. Second daughter- smokie Josie she loved the sandwich but could only finish half of it. She had no mayo on the sandwich and told me it still was juicy which is good no one wants a plain dry sandwich. We never had Mississippi mud pie bites so we bought two, I don't know how to explain the taste but it hits the chocolate craving but it's not sweet yet satisfying. Get the pineapple dole cup!!! No regrets! Staff- the woman at the register was so kind and welcoming, she made me feel like she was glad I came in. She was very attentive and patient. The woman who brought out my Togo order was so kind she always smiled at me when passing and truly represented great hospitality, did I mention they were extremely busy when I went, they were not flustered they stayed calm and joyful! Food was really good, and one of the employees was very sweet. Unfortunately, the girl at the front was incredibly rude. We came in at 1:45pm and ordered two sandwiches. She was very blunt at that time, but at 2:20, I went back to order one more sandwich. She said "it'll have to be togo" I said "no that's okay, you can make it for here" (as we were already sitting down and eating), and she said "no we're closing." I work in the industry and that is actually ridiculous. 15-30 mins sure but it was 40 minutes from their closing time AND we were already in the building! From well before 2pm! Honestly tainted the entire experience and really made me angry. I don't even write Yelp reviews but this girl got under my skin. I hope she reads this and does better. read more

We had our lunch delivered via Doordash. I've never been to this restaurant but I am floored by how delicious everything was. My hot pastrami sandwich was still hot when it was delivered and my boyfriends BLT was the best he ever had! The pasta salad was so delicious, I love the addition of both green and black olives! Another delicious meal at Mary Ann's! I got the chicken salad croissant with the cream of asparagus soup. The sandwich needed a little salt and pepper but other than that it was all delicious. My husband got the pimiento cheese and bacon sandwich with the side salad with cilantro dressing. The dressing was sweet with a slight cilantro taste, very good. The sandwich was nicely toasted. Our group of four stopped and had a delicious lunch while we were visiting Fairhope today. The Chicken Salad on Croissant was a big hit. As was the Turkey Cranberry sandwich (did I detect a hint of horseradish?; so interesting). We didn't imbibe in dessert, but the Mud Pie 'bites' looked yummy! Was brought here by a local and we loved it!! Super cute area to sit and people watch in town. I loved the menu and appreciated a variety in the kids menu. I had a salad trio, chicken salad, pasta and pimento cheese. Everything was so good and perfect for the hot day! Service was quick and the ladies were so nice and helpful! They even let me get more peach tea even after they cleaned up. Will definitely go back! The only downside was it was super hot inside. I am writing about a recent customer service incident. I ordered a half sandwich to go and when I got home, found out there was an error. This used to be my fav deli in fairhope but I'm not sure if they are still in same location(last time I ate there was 2000 maybe) but their salads and sandwichs WERE at the top of my list for good grab n go wayyyy back when when they were in Bancroft. Now- the location on section street I just went to isn't the same at all! And the food I bought was aweful. I bought two sandwichs(chicken salad and the mabien)- the mabien was just -ok... the chix salad was ok if you like picking bones out of your mouth every bite! I also ordered a pint of shrimp salad and potato salad... both were terrible! Potato was bland and the shrimp salad was terrible and not cooked... I guess if u like raw shrimp it wd be ok- but even the rest of the I grediaents were aweful- no old bay in it!! Who doesn't use old bay in shrimp salad!?? I pd over $75 for this lunch and needless to say I'll never do that again! What's happened to all the old greats of fairhope?? I thought the restaurant was OK. I got the pimento and cheese on wheat bread with bacon. For me, the Praveena cheese was too wet. Meaning that had way too much mayonnaise. Came with chips and a pickle. Not sure I would try it again. read more

I'm back on the eat beat! I'll tell you this little gem has been a favorite of ours for many years but I just love the windmill market location. You can get your items from the fridge or order it how you want it. Specializing in sandwiches as most delis do the Reuben is my favorite! I always swap the homemade chips for their amazing pasta salad. A pickle on the side makes this meal even better. When I'm not going for a sandwich the chef salad is always my other choice. I was a little upset today as my son loved their corn dogs and we were told "new menu, no corn dogs" ohhh no, he opted for a hot dog and never even touched it. My past experience (Today) was terrible. I called in a to go at 1:00PM and they told me it would be about 15-20mins. I get there around 1:25PM and I sit in there and pay for it and everything and they say it will be right out. i waited until 2:18PM to get my food. This was a $40 TO GO order that was suppose to be done in 20mins. I also wasn't the only one waiting for their food their were others going up to the register angry to take their food and leave. At one point some of the servers got on their phones. This was really rude because you have people who have been waiting almost and hour for their food and haven't got it yet. Yum, good food, good selection...came here instead of sweet olive. Somehow sweet olive lost its appeal so I wandered back to Mary Anns. Glad I did, ordered the Mediterranean salad, turkey and cranberry on marbled rye and pastrami sandwich. Yum Yum. I do not know why this place falls off of my radar, except for perhaps I end up buying a lot of cr@p in the vendor space on my way out. Have my eye on those driftwood side tables for the patio.... The food is A+++. The sides are very diverse and make up for the price. Today I had the quiche (perfect) with very fresh fruit salad. My Mother had the grilled chicken sandwich with the broccoli salad. Since I am a slow eater I missed the chance to sample heres, but the plate was clean. I also love the fact that the place is very "green". All table clean-up is sorted for recycling. There is nice space for outdoor dining. The space is a bit too industrial and there are drafts. Mary Ann's is the go to place for casual but good lunch fare in Fairhope. The staff is terrific - they understand that you are there to grab a bite and they make it as easy as possible. Men and women look for different things when choosing a restaurant. I'm a guy that likes a hearty lunch. Fairhope has a lot of lunch places that are fine but serve what I call girl-food. You know, salad nicoise, perfect dainty sandwiches, soup of the day.... Mary Ann's is that too but knows how to keep a guy happy. They have great tea, daily quiche and sandwich specials, and a menu broad enough to make me happy. And its in the fabulous Windmill Market. Live music during lunch several days a week, check your listings... And Moe's BBQ is under the same roof. Talk about boy food.... While its not a deli in the New York tradition (sigh) it is a fine place to dine and keep both men and women happy. read more

I had lunch here today and thought this was a cute place! We sat in the courtyard (which was very nice) and everything we ordered was good. I had the quiche (could have had a nicer crust- there wasn't one) and fruit salad. The fruit was ripe, fresh, and was a wide variety (banana, strawberry, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes). Hubby had the muffaletta and it was fantabulous. He scarfed it down so fast I barely got a few bites. His parents also enjoyed their sandwiches (I can't remember what they got). Word of warning- we got there at about 1pm on a Saturday and had no problem getting a table and we got our food quickly. By the time we were getting ready to leave (about 1:30- 1:45) there was a line through the courtyard and no available tables. 12/27/12 After trying with no luck to get into McSlurry's Pub (closed) and Panini Pete's (packed), I realized that this place existed. From the outside it is hard to tell. It's cold out so no one is sitting outside on the patio. Walk in--different story. It is a great, fast-moving deli. I loved the white bean chicken chili soup that my husband ordered. I chose a greek salad with chips on the side, it too, was delicious and most importantly every bite was FRESH. Service was friendly. You go in, get on line and order. Simple and easy. Grab a seat (we sat by the window) and enjoy the decor. They bring the food out to you when it's ready. The decor is really interesting from the quotes on the art work on the wall (which made us chuckle), to the really cool "big ass fan" (that is really what it was called and it was BIG!) on the ceiling. Be sure not to get confused by the menu of another dining establishment advertising on their cash registers. It's weird. Must be a town thing. Prices were right, food was good and tasty. Cute "deli". Free refills on drinks (you help yourself) and you'll want them because they fill your cup with ice. Tons of ice! Will definitely be going back to try other items on the menu. read more

For a nice, very casual lunch spot in downtown Fairhope, Mary Ann's can't be beat. The counter where you order is towards the back of the Westside Market. After you order, sit down at one of the many tables and someone will bring you your basket. I went twice this weekend and had the chicken salad sandwich and the blackened fish poboy. Both were exceptionally good and I highly recommend them. Their salads also look really good. My girlfriend said Regina's salad was really tasty. One downside is that there is very little A/C and it can get hot late in the day, but they say they are working on it. Its just not a trip home if I dont make it to Mary Ann's for lunch at some point. The sweet tea is perfection - the salad plate is a classic with any three of your choice (egg, potato, chicken, tuna, pasta, fruit) - but try any of the sandwiches too, and then you have to save room for the Mississippi mud cake - so sweet it will literally make your teeth ache but in a good way. I've never had a bad meal here, from salads to sandwiches to the quiche of the day. The poppyseed dressing for the fruit salad is delicious too if you're in the mood for something sweet but not too bad for you. Its quintessential Faih-hope and if you dont see someone in linen or some monogrammed item then you're probably in the wrong place. Both sandwiches we had were delicious. Pimento cheese and the fish sandwich tasted fresh and homemade. They split our bowl of soup into two cups and brought the food to the table quickly and efficiently. The only downside was paying $30 for our meal... My husband and I really like Mary Ann's sandwiches -- have been there twice so far and had the Italian Hero and the RTC III (smoked ham, bacon and jack cheese with homemade honey mustard on grilled sourdough) with pickle and chips. We enjoyed eating at the picnic tables outside while listening to live music and checking out the shops in the Windmill Market.
