Sandra's is right in the heart of FHope on the corner of Church and Fairhope Ave. it's a small deli, and they have chalkboard of their menu items. They also have a nice selection of desserts, and an out side area in front. I decided to go to Sandra's Place for a Reuben Sandwich. I had heard amazing things. Ordered at the counter, the lady was super nice. I ordered my Reuben to go and substituted a salad for chips. Also, a wedge of Coconut Crème Poe. I have to say, I was disappointed in the Reuben....the best thing that I ate was the Side Salad with Ranch. It was delicious. The pie was okay, as was the Reuben, but for $30 for a sandwich, a side salad and pie, it just wasn't worth it. I probably should have ordered the Egg Salad. Supposed to be amazing.. I may go back, but it took me 6 years to go for the first time so..... Can't recommend until I have the Egg Salad, I suppose. read more

We stopped at the Fairhope Marina and walked into the downtown for a quick bite and Sandra's was the first place we saw and we wanted a place with a patio/outdoor seating. The employees were friendly and the menu was simple and small. We ordered the Greek salad with chicken salad and the trio salad (chicken salad, fruit salad, pasta salad). I would give 4 stars for the patio and quaint vibe but the food was about a 3. I was hoping the food would be much healthier than it was. Both the Greek salad and trio salads were swimming in dressing, including the fruit salad. Next time, I would probably just come here for dessert. The homemade desserts look fantastic. read more

We enjoyed a Turkey Melt, pimento cheese, and kale soup. All the ingredients were excellent quality and very fresh. Everything was delicious and homemade tasting. We thought it was reasonably priced considering McDonalds meal prices are not a lot less these days. I would say Sandra's is a healthier choice. Cute little corner shop with a nice patio. I heard about a delicious coconut pie offered at Sandra's place and had to try it! I took a quick glance at their website and decided this would be a great spot for lunch, too- I was right! A chalkboard menu has all items listed plus specials of the day and soup of the day. There is a pick 2 option for soup or salad with a half cold sandwich. I chose Reuben and my partner chose the club sandwich. My Reuben was so delicious! Good quality corned beef, a generous portion of sauerkraut and dressing sandwiched between two perfectly grilled pieces of marbled rye bread. I had a bite of my partner's club sandwich which was also delicious. Good quality bread, thick sliced tomatoes that were juicy, crispy lettuce, a meaty piece of bacon, and turkey. There may have been a bit too much Mayo on this sandwich, but I would still get it again and just say go easy on the mayonnaise. The sandwiches were served with kettle cooked chips. And finally to get to the pie- it was as good as I had heard. I chose the thickest slice I could. It was moist, coconutty and topped with a delicious coconutty frosting. It's a deli with breakfast sandwiches and other deli sandwiches that are pricey considering they are deli sandwiches that come with a bag of chips or a small side of fruit. My turkey sandwich had light mayo with lettuce and tomato for $8.50...and I opted for the bag of chips. Nice location on the corner with plenty of outdoor seating and a few tables inside. Sandra's is the epitome of Fairhope. It's quaint, fresh, outdoorsy and friendly. My friend and I stopped in one beautiful Friday afternoon during a Fairhope shopping binge. One look at those pies and we were powerless to resist them. She had coconut cream and I had chocolate silk. They gave them to us when we ordered, so we were lucky enough to enjoy a little dessert first. I ordered a half chicken salad sandwich and a cup of shrimp and corn chowder. Bev had a pimento cheese sandwich and she had some sort of kale soup. We both enjoyed our soups and sandwiches, but those pies...ohmygosh...they were totally divine! Of course they were homemade, which is also the case with the soups, pimento cheese and chicken salad. There are a few tables inside the restaurant, but like everyone else, we opted to sit outside on the shaded patio and enjoy the weather and the view. Sandra's has great food and atmosphere, and sits right across the street from one of my favorite gift shops and right next door to one of my favorite clothing boutiques, so there's a 100% chance I'll find my way back in there. read more

I have to say right away their desserts are the best I have ever eaten! Their chocolate cake is a party in the mouth experience!!! Talk about moist, OMG! The frosting is an OMG too! Then there is the coconut cake is just as fantastic! And their lemon meringue pie is to die for! My mother and I ordered 3 slices of each and we didn't care what others were thinking! Went here once and had a premade lunch during the arts festival and was not too impressed... I'm glad we went back and tried their lunch/brunch!!! The service was wonderful! Like having your loving Grandmother serve you a delicious meal! My bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was VERY good. I'm not even sure what made such a simple sandwich so good but it is worth going back for! The Bloody Mary was very tasty and had a good spice to it! Others in my party ordered the stuff tomato which was good but maybe a little too much tomato and not enough chicken or tuna salad.... I didn't care because my sandwich was great with the fruit on the side with a wonderful poppyseed dressing! Sandra's has been a must stop every time we visit fairhope. Whether it's a pimento cheese sandwich or a slice of coconut cake on the patio, we have to pop in. A couple of months ago, they had strawberry cake absolutely delicious. So good, we made a special trip from Baton Rouge just to have this cake for my daughters first birthday. It was absolutely delicious. Added a couple of fresh flowers and a cake topper! My whole family was so impressed by this delectable strawberry cake with cream cheese icing! I love that this place is in an old, small building. The seating is limited so get here early if you want to sit inside (during the hot summer or cold winter days) I tried the rueben sandwich - amazing! I make it a point to try ruebens at most places. My mom makes a great one so I always compare and this one was almost there. It was the perfect blend of flavor, the right texture (not too moist and not too crunchy) and the correct amount of ingredients. It looked like more than I could eat but I was able to finish it. I washed it down with Blueberry Beer which is very refreshing in the summer heat. The beer was sweet but not overpowering - just enough to balance the salt of the sandwich. A sandwich place that stands above others! Fresh and creative sandwiches! Corurteous and good humored service. Sudewalk patio was a delightful place to eat and enjoy abpretty town and watch people. Some mischievious customers added text to a small chalkboard outlining the iced tea options, adding "all choices come with 2oz shots of liquor, unless special ordered". Being on the road, I politely requested no alchohol in my iced tea. My wife looked shocked, the young lady behind the counter sweetly commented, "Oh he doesn't bother me, we don't serve that kind of tea here, with a smile. She then asked me if I was from New Orleans and the, very quietly, if I was a "coonass". This us a term that ine cajun reserves for another, and is not used in polite company.
