The food is AMAZING! They have such good service and make sure they go to your table not too much but not too little. The ambiance was very nice, there were kids playing in the dining room where no customers were and not making a lot of noice. It is very family friendly and such a nice place to go eat at. They give food to this one homeless man almost every day when we are there eating late. They don't rush you even if they are already closed or about to close. This is an old school diner, with a large room in the back that is cooled by two wall a/c units, four flatscreen TV's for watching the game(s). Diner does not have much in terms of decor other then an American flag, but it is clean & the food makes up for it. Very friendly waitress, staff is wonderful. From Atlanta but was in town visiting my 81 year old Aunt. she doesn't go out much but wanted to go out for breakfast. she said she didn't know where to go. so I googled. this came up with 4.5 stars. when we got there she at first wanted to leave because they didn't serve biscuits. I convinced her to at least try it. The food was so good. she ordered fish & grits. This place was fantastic! The portions were huge and everything was fresh. I got the cheese steer and it was incredible. Without a doubt one of the best burgers I've ever had. Had the bacon cheeseburger with fries while wifey went with oyster poboy with fries and cloe slaw. Also, i had ice tea. The bacon cheeseburger hit the spot. While FF were hot w/o being greasy. No small feat. Wife's oyster poboy was one of her best. Cole slaw was shredded with just the right amount mayo. The next time I have a hamburger craving I'll be sure and be back. Always call ahead and ask if they have gumbo - it's made fresh and delicious, but not always there. Best burger I have ever had - a big, delicious, steer burger. We ordered take out here yesterday while looking for something close in the area, choosing here because of the reviews, and we were not disappointed! As everyone has mentioned, the burgers are wonderful. Perfectly shaped and cooked to perfection. The Krinkle cut fries (which is the only proper way to have fries btw) we're good as also was the coleslaw. Definitely what I would call an perfect hamburger joint. The only let down was that they don't take debit or credit cards, which is usually all I carry. I happened to have cash this day but this place is definitely worth making plans for ahead of time. I know most people have great reviews about Roshell's. I have passed by for the past two years thinking of stopping gin and it alwatys appears busy. Maybe we went on an off day? The open faced roast beef sandwich was made with what seemed like large deli meat slices. The bread was tiny toast corners that I found after the fact. I am from New Orleans where a roast beef sandwich is made with roast and some good bread you can see. We specifically asked about the meat source before we purchased or I would have ordered something off the seafood menu. My favorite part of my meal was the gravy. My husband had the famous steer burger and it was a good size but the flavor was lacking. To be fair, we did eat at another "famous" cafe nearby the day before, and it could not compare to the flavor. Maybe it's a harsh comparison, as it is hard for any burger to follow the Butch. Also, we would have given 3 stars, but when we had the left overs at home there was a hair cooked into the meat patty of the burger that broke off when tugged on. It left us feeling queasy, so we tossed both plates of leftovers. The staff was nice and the place looked clean. The vacuum cleaner was running most of the time we were there. Music or the tv would have added to the ambiance. I would say we would give it another chance and see if it was just an off day... but probably not. read more

Phenomenal breakfast. Had a patty sausage omelette with mixed veg and cheese grits with toast for less than 7$. For lunch I had their French dip sandwich which was spot on. After eating seafood all over Mobile for a week and paying some exorbitant prices, we found the most delicious seafood platter of our entire trip at this friendly little unassuming place. Portions were generous, food was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the entire restaurant crew was incredibly helpful and personable. The menu offered a great variety, the place was immaculately clean, and the prices were unbelievable. Since there are so many glowing reviews here I want to give them a review after the fact. When I lived in Mobile they were very close to my office, we went there often for lunch. It was a long time ago like the early 90s, it is good to see that they have not only survived but continue to do it right. One thing I remember were the grilled chicken livers which they prepared right on the flat top. The other thing was the garlic cheeseburger with grilled onions. Both of these were outstanding, and the vegetables were pretty good too. I don't miss Mobile but I sure as hell miss Roshell read more
