An absolute gem of a botanica! As someone who works closely with these kinds of materials, I can't…read morerecommend this place enough. The team here is genuinely friendly and knowledgeable, and they have anything and everything you could possibly need to create and formulate. The space itself has a beautiful, magically charged atmosphere. Their candles, ritual oils, and bath washes are fantastic, and I love their jewelry selection, especially the shell bracelets. Visually, the shop is stunning--they feature lovely statues of Yemaya, and the massive Santa Muerte greeting you at the entrance is simply gorgeous. I'm heading back today to refill my materials and tap into that clarity. Thank you for making it so affordable to sustain my craft and live beautifully.

They also had a lot of traditional items/supplies for tea ceremonies, calligraphy, and kimonos. I had fun looking through all the items as it brought me back to our summer in Japan. Apparently they have a long standing history in LA, having opened in 1946 after World War II. The shop occupies the site of the first Japanese-owned business in Los Angeles, circa 1890's. Pretty cool! I have a soft spot for everything animal shaped and soo.... I picked up a fun/odd felt tiger Christmas ornament, a cat pen, and a super cute bronze cat shaped spoon that hangs on the side of your cup. Did I need it? No.... but it's fun and makes me happy. Haha! Overall, great shop to browse around and find some unique gift items. They even wrap up your purchases in paper bags like they do in Japan. I LOVE IT!

I did however found that the hoodies are a bit snug for the size it says. I bought my son an adult Large and it was pretty tight on him, it fits like a medium. I also bought a mug and that was a fantastic addition to my mug collection! The service was great...overall it was a great experience!

Walking into the Explora Store, we found a wonderful sales associate. She was so friendly and helpful! She helped us find a sweatshirt right away and even found a map so we could find all the best exhibits at the museum. This store is so cool! Besides great jackets and t-shirts, there is every toy, game, puzzle, and science-related fun a kid could want. There's lots of mugs, books, tote bags, key chains, and even some jewelry. We really liked the ant farms and butterfly gardens found here! This store is so big that we could have wandered around this store for hours and still not see everything. If you love science, you really could get lost here. My son really liked the great selection of games, 3D puzzles, and science kits at the Exlora Store! By the time we were done shopping here, my son found a nice jacket and a great 3D puzzle for his friend's birthday. For fun toys, educational items, and apparel, this is wonderful stop while visiting the California Science Center!

Maneki Neko also operates a sister concept store called CATCH Little Tokyo located on the third floor of Japanese Village Plaza. [Parking]: As long as there are no special events in Little Tokyo, the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St) is your best bet. [Selection]: The shop has transitioned from primarily selling traditional decor / ceramics / cosmetics (which the shop still carries but in a smaller section) to focusing mainly on plushies and blind boxes featuring IPs like Sanrio, Pokémon, and other Japanese anime. Even though an officially licensed Sanrio store is located next door, Maneki Neko still has an excellent selection of Sanrio items that you can't find at the next-door licensed Sanrio store. [Conclusion]: This is one of those shops where I can probably find a Sanrio plush that I am willing to buy as a gift. It is a perfect example of a thriving shop that has learned to adapt by keeping up with changing consumer tastes.

The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit!
