I had to get tooth #18 extracted asap, living close to the Shady Grove office along with getting work done there in 2021. The closest appointment they had was 2 weeks from today so i called this Frederick location and the young lady answered the phone and was very nice & accommodating. She quoted me a price of 605$ which was fine with me and told me i could come RIGHT NOW!! As i arrived the receptionist Shemika was very sweet and helpful and did not charge me extra for anything. Dr. Mark Hoffrichter was very nice and numbed me easy with no pain from the needle injections. I noticed he was left handed so it was actually fun knowing how lucky lefties do things differently with angles! If I could give given a half of a star I would have! Don't be fooled by the very pleasant receptionists, and clean reception area, Dr. Hoffrichter is very unprofessional! What seasoned Doctor asks their patient, a minor who under medicine and their mouth propped open, which tooth are we pulling out? After we left their office, we later find out that Dr. Hoffrichter never took out the tooth that my son went in for in first place!! In fact, he almost took out the wrong tooth!!Their office is not cheap, they charge top dollar and I expected better service from this office! To only hear the Doctor say, I read the xray wrong!! So disappointed in this office. I made my son's appointment 2 months ago. I get a the week of his appointment about insurance issue. Well, looks like I gave them medical info instead of dental. I guess it took them 2 months to figure this out. ‍ Now my appointment is today at 1. I receive a call at 12 stating my consultation is 159, not covered by my insurance. Then he wants my son to do a new panoramic picture because he want the picture to be within a year. Well his ladt picture was July 2021, we in august 2022....‍. I am speaking in regards to my own miserable and atrocious experience at the Frederick location. My mouth has been completely messed up permanently. I absolutely do not recommend this business! I strongly posit that you find any other dental office instead of this place. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional in my life. I was supposed to take my son there tomorrow but cancelled today for several reasons. First they changed my consult appt. that had been scheduled for a month the day before it. Second they told me my dental insurance would not cover my sons wisdom teeth removal and I would have to come out of pocket $3700. Then when I called my dental insurance they notified me that the procedure was covered at 80%. I had the feeling at the consult that they were pulling a fast one. The way I see it they don't even contact your insurance and just charge you the max and make you pay cash. Would not ever trust them and you shouldn't either. I had a consultation at this location after being referred here for a wisdom teeth removal. Let me first say that Dr. Pitts seems like a very good doctor, he has all his credentials on the wall, is very approachable and thorough in his explanation, and went out of his way to answer all of my questions. However, the experience has soured me to getting my wisdom teeth removed, and if I do decide to get them pulled, it will be at a different location. The business side of this health care provider is not run very well. First, the website only loads half of the time, which is frustrating when you need to reference or submit information. Second, they ask you to fill out your New Patient paperwork using their web portal. There is a fair amount of information you need to submit, and it does take a while in the office, so this makes sense. However, the web portal also is plagued with technical issues and would not allow me to submit my information after filling it out and submitting using three different web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Internet explorers with all firewalls and anti-virus disabled). They do allow you to submit your paper work in the office, which I came in 2 hours early to do. It only takes about 30 minutes, so I left to go get lunch before my appointment, so they had over an hour and a half to process my insurance information. When I returned, I promptly had my consultation, but upon checkout, they informed me that there was a complication with my dental insurance in that my flex funds had been exhausted. I plan to contact MetLife about this because I've only had 2 routine cleanings this year, but they informed me that I'd have to pay the entire consultation cost out of pocket. I believe that this is information that they should have provided me with before I was rendered services, because quite frankly, I would not have paid $100 for a 10 minute meeting where I'm exposed to information I can (and pre-preemptively did) find on youtube for free. To be fair, the office is very nice, the staff is really friendly, and I did not have any problems with scheduling, and I really liked Dr. Pitts and was eager to move forward with the process. However, I think I should have been told there was a problem with my insurance before being rendered services and in my opinion, this is not a professional way for an office to operate. read more

I was seen recently at MOSA Frederick MD and I saw Dr. Mark Hoffrichter. I was referred by my dentist to have two teeth extracted. Dr. H came in and explained the process to me and I was well content with his explanation. The process was not that good, as expected in a dentist office. My problem came in with billing. I have insurance that covers 80% of the total payment. I gave front desk both my dental and medical insurance cards as they had requested them. I was never given a quote of the total amount that I was supposed to pay prior my visit. I had called and checked in with FD as well. In addition, they had sent a link via text to my phone asking me to fill up some questions which I did. I paid $428 as copay with my Flexible spending card. Fast forward....I received mail yesterday about my bill from my dental insurance stating that I only needed to pay $80 as my copay. I went back to MOSA - Frederick to clarify with them about this issue. Spoke to FD lady and she stated that they will mail me a check of the adjusted pay. I asked if they could charge the money back to my FLEX SPEND card and she said they could not do that since the amount had been processed. If they would have run my insurance first, this would not have happened. I am upset since this could be avoided if they followed they process correctly. they had all my information two weeks prior my appointment, they had my x-rays as well with the referral from my dentist. This is an inconvenience since I will have to submit the reimbursed money back to my flexible spending card which is a process in itself that could be avoided if they would have run my insurance first. Let me preface my comments with this, DON'T get your wisdom teeth removed right before the holidays. I had a consultation in early November came back a week later for surgery everything went well very professional environment. However it was a week before thanksgiving so I don't know if that was the reasoning for them not answering my calls because I had tried to call several times without any answer. They were closed thanksgiving of course and the following day but I was in a lot of pain so I called the doctors on call to which their recommendation was to call after the holidays. I left voicemails regarding my concerns and their was no follow up whatsoever which in my opinion is a little unprofessional, not exactly necessary on their end but it's always nice to follow up with patients post op to check on the progress or lack there of. Overall it was a quick well done procedure and my interactions with staff were pleasant they just need to have a little more professionalism following up with patients. read more
